Dick Vitale sidelined by vocal cord lesion
Dick Vitale recently was diagnosed with a lesion on a vocal cord and is out of action for a while, likely until February.

(Update: ESPN announced Tuesday that Vitale had successful surgery to treat ulcers on his left vocal cord and until returning to TV will contribute to ESPN.com and dickvitaleonline.com. Vitale never before had missed a game in 29 years at the network.)

Those who bash Dickie V don't understand the magnitude of his contributions to the sport of college basketball. Pre-Dickie V the sport was largely viewed in the big cities as the NBA minor league.
