A-Rod talks about the Mitchell Report
Hey, A-Rod talked to Katie Couric about the Mitchell Report but not the Yankees beat reporters.
No fair!
Oh, well. The interview will be shown on "60 Minutes'' Sunday. Here is an excerpt shown on the evening news Thursday:
Katie: So many huge players have been named in this investigation and MVPs, Cy Young award winners, hall of famers, what's your reaction to this investigation?
A-Rod: Well, Katie you're putting me in a tough spot. I mean these are guys that I play with, they’re my teammates, friends, people that I respect, people that I play with every day. If anything comes of this, [I] would be extremely disappointed . I mean it would be a huge black eye on the game of baseball. A lot of fans, they just want to know a lot. They want to know the truth and I think in this George Mitchell investigation . . . Maybe they will get what they want.
(Update: By the way . . . Did the Yankees know at 11 a.m. that A-Rod wouldn't be on the list at 2? If so, how? If not, how could they put him on the phone with reporters?)
(Another update: Here is WNBC's apology for putting an erroneous list on its Web site before the official announcement Thursday.)
