MSG keeps Gus Johnson off ESPN 1050
Stephen A. Smith wanted to have Gus Johnson, one of the play-by-play voices of the Knicks, on his ESPN 1050 radio show Wednesday to discuss, well, you know . . .
But after Johnson ran the idea past an MSG spokesman, MSG got back to the station and said nyet to the appearance. Why?
To avoid putting Johnson in the awkward position of discussing a couple of guys with whom he has long-time relationships, Isiah Thomas and Stephon Marbury.
This was not surprising. MSG is, um, not known for its warm, open embrace of publicly addressing Garden controversies.

Neil,
Did you hear John Sterling's BREAKING NEWS on Mike and Dog's show? A-Rod is coming back!
Yes, I did. Welcome back, A-Rod. He always makes things more interesting for people with jobs like mine.
A caller asked Michael Kay to get Sterling on and Kay said something to the effect of "we'll use our own sources; Sterling isn't even working now, maybe he heard it in a casual conversation..." Sounds like MK is not too enamored with JS's journalistic skills ;)
Bet Jackson wishes he had the "KNICKS - NBA FREE PASS" for this...
"It's poor humor," Jackson said. "I deserve to be reprimanded by the NBA. If I've offended any horses, Texans, cowboys or gays, I apologize."
Phil Jackson is reprimanded by the NBA for "poor humor" and the Knicks get a pass on a sexual harrasment verdict?
Its time for the NABJ, NOW, NAN and every other organization of the professionally offended to demand an Imus apology for Jackson's remarks! (Note Sarcasm)
I hope for Time Warner subscibers that Marbury comes back and the Knicks don't buy out his contract. That would be a big chunk to add on to the public. You think Dolan pays that out of his own pocket?
