Lou is thru at WFAN

Lou%2520Rufino.jpgOK, Imus diehards:

I now can set a date on Lou Rufino's departure from WFAN, confirming Deputy Dawg's scoop from last week and putting an end to the cruel uncertainty that has tormented some loyal WatchDog commentors.

Rufino will be leaving the FAN as of Wednesday and will join Don Imus' new show on WABC Dec. 3.

Whew.

Now the Imus posters can leave you alone. You've practically given them everything they've asked for.

We will never leave Neil Best alone. I hope he gets a ticket to the show at Town Hall on December 3rd. Many of our supporters are going. Maybe he will even get a personal invite from IMUS himself.

Thankfully he (Neil) doesn't work for Newsweek, where they were told they couldn't be on Imus' show.

Thank you Neil. Your the Best.

Bruce from Florida

Great news, this! Thank you Neil!

Great news! Thanks Neil. I've never read your Blog until I found out about it on my Imus Truth website. It's been a blessing during these awful Imus-less months. The conventional wisdom was, even if you didn't like the guy, he should never have been fired....so his fans, and the marketplace, and the I-Man himself, who wasn't 'finished' yet, is coming back. I GUARANTEE he will have a lively, provocative, honest, and entertaining show.....and I GUARANTEE he will end his career (in 5 years) with more listeners/watchers than he had when he was fired from CBS and MSNBC. You can take that to the bank...
Thanks for staying on this story. I really appreciate it. You've done a great job. And there still are some good investigative reporters out there.

Neil, thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into the Imus story. You never let us Imus fans down. Ken, we are not going to leave Neil now he is part of the I-Nation! I may not post every day but I love Niel's blog and I do love sports and Neil's sense of humor! I too wish Neil that you could be on Imus' first show...you deserve it just for putting up with us!!!!!

Thank you again Neil and take care...

Neil, you ARE the Best!!

Thanks for putting up with all us I-fanatics who never listened to him because of sports.

Happy Thanksgiving! BTW, would you like it if Imus invited you on his show? We would ALL be watching/listening.

Mary Lynn

Neil,

Best moment for me this summer was Lou introducing Levon Helm at the concert in Central Park. Crowd went crazy when Lou came on stage, you could hardly hear the intro..

Imus on a mission from God, has put the band back together!

(Imus):"Its's a hundred and six miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses. (Charles): Hit it."

ThanX, Neil (you are the) Best.

Best, great great job.

What a business.

Thank you, Neil, for being a life-line for the I-Nation and bringing us news of the I-man during these long months without our hero. You are the Best!

All who are so eagerly awaiting the Imus return will be dissappointed - the show will be very different. Lou and all the others who left WFAN may regret that move.

What would really be great would be to keep an eye on the ratings between WFAN and WABC post December 3rd....I hope the ratings discrepency stick Mr. Moonves in his CBS eye! And, of course, ulitmately, how much a spot is going for for each show...that's the bottom line.

Thanks very much for all the kind words and your ongoing support, I-fans. Enjoy the new show. I will definitely be keeping an eye on the ratings battle to see how Imus fares against the two sports stations' morning shows. As for my invitation to the Imus debut Dec. 3 . . . I think it got lost in the mail. But I'm sure I'll listen to see what it's like. Neil

Thank you, Neil and welcome back, Lou. RFD-TV here I come....

Neil, you really need to listen to the new show - maybe you'll like it?

Good luck.

Neil, any sense of what the WFAN (really CBS radio) policy will be with regard to wfan personalities appearing on wabc in the morning. I find it hard to believe that people like russo, francessa, even JOE B won't recieve frequent invitations to come to joke around, discuss sports, etc. are we looking at a situation like espn with wfan with cbs radio forbidding wfan personalities? My inkling would be that mike and dog are just too valuable to the fan to put those types of restrictions on them. Thoughts?

Best, I would think that both Mike and the dog are signed up to be on Imus's first show in 2 weeks. Amazing that we now have a situation where its WFAN vs. the person who most credit with the success behind the station. I think there is on way these guys can be stopped from going on. But Les Moonves is nuts.

Hey Annie Savoy,

You better let Boston know because they are running a different promo then you predict.
Oh that's right Boston, you know syndication. Highlighting the return and making note of the travesty of the targeting of a Radio Icon.

On Imus' first show, who will be the guy pulling the strings? Or will I-Bag appear as usual (too big cowboy hat, stringy hair, with jowls hanging down to the console)?

I'm taking bets: what comes first, his first ratings "#1" or his first medical calamity?

WABC made a huge mistake.

Listen to Mike and the Mad dog on Monday. The will be announcing they will be on the Imus Show 12/3.

That first show should be a rip. I hope that Imus comes out spitting fire at all of those "loyalists" who bagged him during the whole overblown, Sharpton hypocritical, Rutgers mess. And it was overblown. Wrong yes, worthy of being fired over? Not a chance. Free speech, my tucchis. Apperently only Sharpton is allowed it.

Vinny, I would think that is not the announcement for monday on mike/dog. Neil will know for sure.

I usually just read and don't comment. But there is a great question on this board. Will the WFAN guys be allowed to come on and talk and joke with Imus. I am sure that Mike and Dog have plans to be on during the first show. The question is, will les moonves stop this. Really is a fascinating question.

Absolutely huge story. Will WFAN personaliites be permitted to promote themselves and WFAN on WABC? Neil will tell us. No way, Mike and Dog won't be on 12/3 as suggested above.

I don't think that's going to happen. But what do I know?

Neil, you don't think they will be on or you don't think they will be forbidden? I am sure that CBS radio has all ready issued an edict on this. And there is no way that Mike/Dog won't be discussing his return on their 12/3 show. They mention him all the time as he is the face of WFAN even if he's on WABC starting shortly. Really will be interesting. Should give you some great stuff to report to us about.
