Good Lord! Lord Jeffs on GameDay?!
I can assure you if I were not on vacation, this subject would be a "Strange but true'' item in my newspaper column. (Strange in a mostly good way, though.)
On Saturday, ESPN's "College GameDay'' will celebrate its 150th remote show by eschewing the usual football factories and originating from the Amherst vs. Williams game in splendidly isolated Williamstown, Mass.
The Ephmen and Lord Jeffs will be meeting for the 122nd time in a classic rivalry that predates even Beano Cook. (George Steinbrenner went to Williams, by the way.)
The show has visited Air Force (2001), Penn (2002) and Grambling (2005) but this is the most unlikely remote yet.
The first time GameDay originated from the site of a game was Nov. 13, 1993, for No. 1-ranked Florida State at No. 2 Notre Dame.
The 2007 Fighting Irish should challenge the winner of Williams-Amherst to a game later this fall. Notre Dame might not win, but the Irish at least figure to be able to keep it close.

As an ND alum, ouch. True, but ouch.
Chris, as an ND fan and dropout from another college, I say you let Best off too easy. Any Genius can kick a team when it's down. Hey Smartypants, how would Cornell fare vs. the winner?
Charlie--
Unfortunately, Cornell's Ed Marinaro fared better on "Hill Street Blues" than ND's Bob Golic did on "Saved by the Bell: The College Years" so Best's got me there, too.
