Giants-Lions will be Super Bowl XLI 7/8

pw_1971.jpgThe combination of the NFL's astronomical ratings and the fact it is the only league seen on every major network - if you count ABC/ESPN as one entity - makes for byplay and rivalry among the league's partners not seen in any other sport.

On Thursday, Fox sent its weekly pre-NFL weekend news release and referred to the Giants-Cowboys game as "a high-stakes battle worthy of the title 'Super Bowl XLI ¾.'''

CBS, which last week called the Pats-Colts game "Super Bowl XLI 1/2,'' later in the day put out its weekly release, which said this:

"Note for scheduling purposes: the real date of Super Bowl XLII is January 20th. The confusion may come because it is also being referred to as the 'AFC Championship Game.' Go figure."

In case you were wondering, yup, Fox has the Super Bowl this season.

You're up late, Neil. You've been posting late at night the last two days. I hope you're making up for it by sleeping in.

You get paid for this?

41 3/4? I sent a text to a buddy of mine saying Giants-Cowboys was 41 1/3 since it was not quite the game of 41 1/2 last week between the Colts & Pats.

Anon: Actually, no, I don't. I do this for fun. I get paid for the newspaper column. The blog was entirely my idea.

Best:

I thought I shamed you into the blog. And look what's become of you. You're fabulously famous.

Have you called Scott Boras about our new television show?

Is that supposed to be a picture of Phyllis George, the former Miss America turned NFL hostess?

I am going to count how many times Aikman is pro Cowboy in this game. I say the under/over is 10.5

Yes, Tommy J., that is Ms. George of NFL pre-game show fame.
