ESPN reels in another print journalism star . . . not me!

barry_bonds.jpgESPN apparently is poised to add the San Francisco Chronicle's Mark Fainaru-Wada, of BALCO-busting fame, to its growing roster of prominent former print journalists. (Fainaru-Wada also is famous for being the subject of perhaps the most incoherent interview in the career of WFAN's Chris Russo.)

Here is the pertinent link.

Jealous? Moi? No.

I'm happy for every writer upon whom ESPN showers cash, and I'm glad the Bristol Stompers recognize the value of seasoned newspaper reporters over TV lifers with nice hair.

Even Glauber works for ESPN. Sheesh.

I once appeared on ESPN, but it was 3:25 a.m. in late August, which limited the audience. Also, I didn't accept payment other than a ride from the hotel from a p.r. staffer and a cup of coffee.

Sigh.

You're a cruel man, Neil Best. I thought by "pertinent link" you were referring to the incoherent interview. Oh, well. C'est la vie.

Sorry, Marc. I guess that was a little misleading. The interview was an all-time classic but alas, I do not have the tape or link.

You're missing the most salent point. Fainaru-Wada made a name for himself because a rogue, lower-than-scum lawyer leaked grand jury testimony to him and his writing partner.
This is journalism?????
Come on, Neil, you're better than this (I hope).
