Erin Andrews wins 'sexiest sportscaster' in landslide
Playboy.com - sorry, I ain't gonna link to it - announced that to the surprise of, well, no one, ESPN's Erin Andrews squashed the field in its "America's Sexiest Sportscaster 2," winning with 40 percent of the vote.
I don't want to make a big deal about this, just in case this contest is vaguely sexist, but news is news. WatchDog reports, you decide..
At least Andrews is a respected, hard-working sports media figure. I could have posted a picture of one of Tony Romo's girlfriends - Carrie Underwood, Sophia Bush, Jessica Simpson, etc. - if I were merely looking for a gratuitous reason to feature an attractive woman.
Someone - not me! - needs to organize an equivalent contest for male sportscasters. No, I'm not going to speculate about possible nominees.
I'll let my appearance on ESPN2 this morning speak for itself.

Erin won for good reason - she is very attractive and knows her sports very well. Although I am not a big fan of the sideline reporter, I do commend her on a great job done week-in-and-week-out.
Shoot, I thought Julie Donaldson was a shoo-in. But alas, SNY will can her and keep Sith Everett and Adam Schein.
We are certainly past the days of empty headed women assigned to cover sports like Phyllis George 30 years ago. But everytime I see any woman as a sports broadcaster I think of what Merle Haggard said when he was asked about performers like Mary-Chapin Carpenter and Shania Twain: "I don't know about their music but I sure to like to look at them."
So, I go to the site mentioned to see the contestants Erin was up against. I figured I might see Pam Oliver, Bonnie Bernstein and Dana Jacobson as some solid competition, but the other contestants included Rachel Nichols, Sage Steele, a woman who hosts a poker show and some woman who does Nascar.
No wonder Erin won.
Dana Jsobson? Is she in the Pam Ward division?
Tom: I believe Bonnnie and Pam were candidates in the 2000 vote. Playboy decided there would be no repeat nominees.
It's all a matter of taste. I think Dana's a hottie. Neil, any comment on this? Is she attractive in person?
Despite the obvious hotness of Erin, I'm beginning to become quite fond of Stacey Dales (formerly Schulman) who is quite cute and a basketball player as well. She holds a sideline mike as good as any of the other ones including Jill Arrington.
I have spoken to Dana on the phone but I never have met her in person.
