Craig Carton gives Giants a raspberry
In the past I've said some nice things about Craig Carton's weekly, goofily off-beat interviews with the Jets' Thomas Jones on WFAN. But it's starting to degenerate, as evidenced by Tuesday morning's episode, which you can hear here.
It's a pretty good illustration of why the Giants are reluctant to put their players, coaches or executives on the station's morning show, a topic about which I wrote in today's newspaper column.
Carton responded on the air this morning to the Giants' lack of cooperation by vowing not to put their players on even if asked, then aiming a raspberry and/or Bronx cheer at Pat Hanlon, the team's VP of communications.
Probably not helpful.
Today's newspaper column also brings the news that Julie Donaldson will not have her contract renewed at SNY. That will leave the on-air news team without a woman, but it is likely she will be replaced on the staff by a female reporter.
Playboy is doing another of its sexiest TV reporter polls. I thought about posting pictures and/or linking to their Web site, but decided to pass up the cheap page views in the name of modesty.

Carton is so bad he makes Evan "Screech" Roberts tolerable. And that's saying something!
That's great. There may be no better nickname for Evan Roberts than Screech. He really does sound like him.
No more Julie Donaldson. Too bad. Another reporter who looked better off-air .. and she deserves much better than SNY. She got MY vote.
The way Carton interviews Thomas Jones of the Jets seems to make even Boomer cringe the questions that he asks wow! like last week when they asked him about a certain Jet player that was a poor tipper in a topless bar if that was him is not really important though I wish that there was a simulcast just so I can see Jones reaction. Other than that aspect of the show its better than the alternative............at 11:25 its I-Spy Coach himself , Belichick with Joe& Evan live get your softball bats ready.
I can't wait until they have Jones as a guest in studio and he beats the hell out of Carton. Carton was horrible in Philly at WIP and hasn't changed since. I can't believe the #1 market in the country can't put together a decent morning sports show.
