Speaking of Don Imus (see post below) . . .
Bob Gelb, who produced the first show heard on WFAN in 1987 and “Mike and the Mad Dog’’ for its first eight years, left this week to join Citadel Broadcasting and its new star, Imus.
Since 1997, Gelb had been WFAN’s director of strategic marketing; he will serve in a similar capacity at WABC for Imus’ show, which debuts Dec. 3.
In his resignation letter, he wrote of his pride in having worked for what he called "the greatest sports talk show in the history of our business" and "a radio station that will go down in journalistic history as one that changed the way people receive information and are entertained.’’
I know Imus' first show will be staged at 1,500-seat Town Hall in Manhattan. But I still have no idea who his rumored black cast member or sports update person will be. Sorry.

No wonder Mike and Chris mentioned Gelb's name a few times when they spoke about future remote broadcasts on today show. Talking like Gelb was going to be there....
Hey Neil, where will IMUS RFD be broadcasting from?
His he taking that Zone diet that is heavily promoted on the Fan with him?
flies are drawn to you-know-what (it ain't honey).
Neil,
You know who your true friends and supporters are.
The RFD-TV deal is being simulcast on that station from WABC in New York.
The First Imus program will be Broadcast from "TOWN HALL" near Broadway in Manhattan. Future broadcast locations have not been divulged yet. But RFD-TV wants Imus to be in a studio with a window. Much like the Today show at 30 Rock.
The Radio studios at WABC seem a little cramped in pictures I have seen. So for good visuals they (RFD-TV) would like a more spacious studio. One that can allow musical talent to perform without being confined.
You can only get RFD-TV on DirectTV and DishNetwork Satellite and some other Cable companies such as Charter. A deal is in the works with Comcast.
Thanks again Neil. Your the Best.

wow, gelb has been like an instituion at wfan radio. he has been there forever. i am surprised to see him leave the station. but good for him.
Neil, Mike and the dog have been joking about Eddie S taking over engineering in morning and Boomer/Carton have alluded to someone moving on. Is Lou officially out of there also? Remarkable all of the fan is leaving
his black cast member needs to be farrakhan.
Jeff: Lou is leaving! Gee whiz. How often do I have to say it? As for the location of the Imus simulcast . . . I have an educated guess on the location but still working on confirming it.
Neil, I did not realize you had made it official about Lou. I know that the station has been hinting about it, but I heard him talking to Carton on air this morning. Very odd.
Neil,
Is Imus broadcasting SNY Studio midtown?
Best, you have never made it official about Lou. Lets see a real post on that. Come on, don't be coy. You even did a full post on Bob Gelb.
Deputy Dog told us Lou was at WABC but you haven't confirmed lou. Neil, lets be fair here!
Sarah:
Maybe Best is afraid to give credit where credit is due for fear his domination of the page views might dwindle.

You people are very sad. A great show is being replaced by a pile of dung with collapsed lungs.
How can you people be so happy?
Where is official lou post?
curtis and kuby were horrible.
Is Bernard , Charles, LOU and the big sports guy on board also.
