WatchDog corners Curtis Sliwa on Seventh Avenue
Oh my goodness gracious.
Thanks for the avalanche of blog comments, on-line article comments and e-mails in the wake of my story about Don Imus being close to an agreement with Citadel Broadcasting, which owns WABC-AM and WPLJ-FM in New York.
If my boss gives me a week off, I'll be sure to catch up on all of them and give my loyal readers and commentors the courtesy of a personal response.
I don't have anything new on Imus this Wednesday, as I've been busy doing my day job, which is covering sports media. I did hear that there is a good chance Imus won't actually be on the air until January, even though a deal should be done sooner than that.
I did have this weird experience, though: I was in Manhattan for a press conference and ran into Curtis Sliwa just outside Penn Station. I introduced myself, told him about my article and the speculation that Imus could replace Sliwa and Ron Kuby on WABC and asked him if he had heard anything lately about the Imus situation.
He said he had not.

Why Jaunary? That is insane.
Neil, did Curtis call you a "freaky deaky sycophant, today and lackey" of Imus for asking him that question?
I like C&K on 770, I hope Imus isn't brought in. I may be in the minority here, but I never thought Imus was that good. The guys around him were what made him good.
For me, Imus was nothing more than a marble mouth.
Let's hope this new rumor will have Warner Wolf saying "You couldn't be...more hopelessly wrong!"
Let me have it, I can take it...I'm a big boy ;-)

Congratulations Neil. Howard Stern read your Imus blog article verbatim on his Wednesday show. It opened up a short rant against his longtime foe that made for some very entertaining radio.
Too bad Howard didn't have me in as a studio guest. I could have mingled with some of his other guests!
I hope C&K find a new time for their show if Imus replaces them. I'd hate for their fans to suffer like Imus fans have - no fun having your morning routine altered...it's been like waking up with a stranger in my room every morning since April!
C&K is local NYC program. If C&K want to continue as a team, they will find a home at WOR. Which is actually a better fit for them then WABC!
Prediction: Imus on 770 and C&K on 710!
