Joe Theismann sends greetings to old pal Tony K.

Howard-cosell.jpgThe local baseball nines are history and the Giants have a winning record and are playing on Monday night. Which means . . .

Time for me to start paying attention to "Monday Night Football'' again.

Dan Dierdorf took a public shot at Tony Kornheiser two weeks back. Now it's the turn of Tony's former official ESPN buddy, Joe Theismann.

Here it is, toward the bottom of Barry Jackson's sports media column in the Miami Herald.

A fitting way to end another wacky week in the world of sports media - and sports media coverage.

As a middle-aged guy with two children in middle school, this beat helpfully keeps me in tune with the adolescent vibe that I was hoping I had left behind at East Northport Junior High back in the Ford Administration.

Sigh. Have a nice weekend. Go Cornell. Beat Colgate. Yay.

Theismann's got a point. Kornheiser doesn't belong on MNF but he's protected by other writers circling the wagons. Writers rarely whack writers. At least Theismann didn't make the complete fool out of himself that Baby Boomer Esiason did when they fired his sorry ass from MNF. As I recall he whined and whined about everybody at ABC not understanding how important he was. Baby Boomer got fired because he stunk, pure and simple. Wait'll he gets canned at the FAN. Naturally, it'll be someone else's fault, just like it was on every interception he threw.

Billy J., you really need to learn to be less shy and express what you really feel.

Neil B., what good is a blog if you CAN'T express yourself? Just call me the truth-seeker. And don't become one of those wagon-circlers.

Have a nice weekend, Anon. I need a break from my opinions and everyone else's. It's tiresome.

ESPN and other TV networks need to learn and follow this: The network and their "personalities" aren't part of the story they are covering. The game and the players are the story. Go to the game, report it professionally, stay out of everyone's way and lifestyle, go home.

Sandy --- tell that to all Boomers....Berman and Esiason. I'd rather listen to farting than those schnooks.
