Red Sox supporters are the most annoying fans on Earth

175040__king_l.jpgThank you to the several blogs that tipped WatchDog off to this, including Home Run Derby, and especially to Jimmy Kimmel, who in this mock PSA nails the unbearable annoyingness of Red Sox fans.

The media went so overboard in chronicling their delivery from the baseball desert in 2004, the rest of us were ruined for life when it comes to hearing another word out of their long-suffering mouths.

Leave us alone, already! You're just Yankees North, with even narrower concourses and longer bathroom lines.

I live in Maine, surrounded by Red Sox fans and I agree with this sentiment. I had to watch game one with a Red Sox fan the other night and it was the worst experience of my life watching a sporting event.

One comment from this fan that struck with me. After the Sox scored an early run he said: "I love being a Sox fan".

Yeah, and I love having annoying, smug friends who THINK they are cool. I went over to this friends house, he is 28 and he had a Red Sox blanket covering the couch and he was complaining that Wally (Red Sox mascot) his lucky doll was at his girlfriends house. Then he broke out a Red Sox rally monkey that he just got in the mail. I thought the rally monkey was an Angel thing? Either way I thought it was the most childish thing I had ever seen.

It was surreal. I will NEVER watch another Red Sox game in the company of a Red Sox fan.

I went to wedding in Kennebunk in 1985. That's the only time I've been to Maine. I'd move there, but I don't think my family would come with me. I like cold weather.

Red Sox fans bad....Stephen King...cool (I'll make an exception for him).
The "older" fans are not that bad, it's the college-age chowdah heads that get to me. Don't wax poetic about Fisk and Lynne. When they did their thing, your daddy was a frat boy like you are now. Talk about the teams you should remember like those great teams with Benzinger, Greenwell and Sam Horn! WOOOO!

I came of age in the era of Wynegar, Balboni, Whitson, Witt (ugggghhh)...but there was Donnie and Willie and Righetti too..

In those days, the best thing about a Yankee game was listening to White and Rizzuto...

I like to watch baseball. Let's play two!!!

Jealous Yankee fans
