One more thing about Suzyn Waldman . . .

Torre.bmpI should have been clearer on this in my article on Suzyn Waldman in today's paper (see post and links below), but I'll clarify now:

I referred to Waldman being upset with criticism of her on the radio in general and WFAN in particular, but to get even more particular, she was displeased with WFAN morning host Craig Carton.

The afternoon team of Mike Francesa and Chris Russo had big fun with her reaction in May to Roger Clemens' return, but this time around said they had no problem with her emotional moment after the Yankees were eliminated Monday night.

Waldman screamed at Russo before an interleague game at Shea Stadium earlier this season. Evidently he didn't want to go through that again.

Suzyn Waldman says it better than anyone could, "This is not Iraq." Exactly! To say also that she cried because she and Joe had cancer is misleading. Joe is not dying in a hospital bed, he may be terminated as Yankee manager, something that has not yet happened, by the way.
Joe Torre is a success story, but he has lived a priviliged life. To cry at his potential firing reduces the seriousness of life into a tripe side-show. From the "oh my goodness Gracious" outburst, to the vaudvillian tears over Joe Torre, Suzyn Walman symbolizes the "entitlement" mentality that non-Yankee fans despise.

Ray - you are dead on with that assessment.

Mr. Best noted the on- target ESPN ombudsman's latest report. Chief in it was the fact that opinion often passes as fact, with 2 cohorts: encouraging sports fans/consumers to jump on the opinion as fact/negatvity bandwagon, and also injuring careers of those about whom they comment capriciously. The internet and its anonymity fuels things. More and more sites will do away with anonymity.

Suzyn Waldman has been a major shill for the Yankees for a very long time. She used to be on the FAN and whenever the Yankees wanted to put out some "spin' on one thing or other there was littly Suzie with the Yanks point of view. Suddenly she's doing Yankee games on YES, play-by-play if I remember, and she totally stunk up the joint. Hey, how did she luck out working for the Yankee's Network? Anyway, she was horrible. So, Charlie Steiner gets launched and presto, she's color commentator alongside less than Sterling. All she needs there is to say, Yes John and No John and be careful not to get crushed by his ego. Of course if you knock her it's "sexist'. Name calling is always a place to crawl if you are talentless and can't honestly defend yourself.
