BREAKING NEWS: Isles to Welcome Bloggers

Here's an interesting tibit in the wake of Sunday's story in which the NCAA kicked a reporter/blogger from the Louisville Courier-Journal out of the press box at an NCAA baseball super regional for the crime of live blogging during a game . . .

Most major pro sports leagues and teams do not credential bloggers unless they are affiliated with a "mainstream'' media outlet. But the Islanders, who have a recent history of innovative initiatives such as their "Havoc Zone,'' next season are going to institute the "NYI BLOG BOX,'' in which current bloggers or fans who want to start one will be welcomed as quasi-journalists and invited to blog away.

The bloggers will be given access to select games and practices and be given a designated seating area outside the regular press box.

The blogs will be linked on the official team site and not be censored, although the team will insist on "professional'' conduct, whatever that means.

This should be interesting. Can't wait until October to see how it flies. If Mr. Yashin isn't busy then, maybe he can try it.

I will write more about this - even in the newspaper! - when the season begins.

When you are the poor "stepchild" you have to be innovative to be noticed.

This from a third-rate Rag franchise that has to announce phoney sellouts and have more used car salesman as shills to sell their lowly invisible franchise and recently copied the Islanders on demand for themselves.

How does it feel again for the Nets to double your playoff ratings in NYC..LOL

Talk about a team that could be folded due to lack of interest....bye bye Rags, get out of NYC
ISLANDER COUNTRY...

5000+ Islander fans at Msg next season..

They dont get coverage in the city newspapers so there is plenty of space in the press box and room for anyone who can write to an audience. Are they even on radio on LI anymore?
