Whom Do You Hate???

Ask any sports media critic in North America what he or she hears most from readers, friends, relatives, editors and fellow writers and you will get the same answer every time.

The majority of input and suggestions we get is from people with a passionate hatred - or at least obsessive dislike - of a certain announcer or announcers. They want us to write about said announcer or announcers, so the rest of the world can share their pain.

Trouble is . . . everyone has a different announcer he or she can't stand, so the professional media nitpickers have to choose our spots carefully.

Here's your chance, though: Tell me (and everyone else who reads the blog) which TV or radio announcer you hate the most, and why. Don't put it off. The citizens of cyberspace want to know. Really, truly they do.

Joe Morgan takes the cake. He does no research and supports his points with illogical assertions. The guys over at firejoemorgan.com do a fantastic job making him look very foolish.

Along those same lines, any baseball announcer/analyst who relies on "traditional" statistics (wins, saves, rbi, runs scored, batting average)should be fired. There are many better tools available to help these announcers make their points. McCarver, Buck, Kay and Phillips all fit that mold.

Steve Phillips because he thinks he is such a success and that everything he gods gift to tv. His columns on ESPN.com are horrible too.

Gary Apple because he comes off as a dick and really arrogant and because he repeatedly (I think 5 times in one question) told Oliver Perez prior to game 7 last year was the most important game of his life, probably trying to get his scared.

John Kruk because he has the IQ of a shoe and he is only there because he screams and he is mildly funny. Anyone who says that the Nationals are better than the Cardinals as of last week is retarded.

Michael Kay, John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman because they are all homers and the first two go over the top too much and make it about themselves. Waldman is such a shill its sickening.

Mike Francessa because he thinks he knows everything and he makes the callers feel like idiots when they have a different point of view.

Joe Morgan because he never contributes anything and he is a Captain Obvious.

Bob Lorenz just doesn't give off a good vibe to me. Seeing him makes me think of bad things. I don't know why.

Tim McCarver (see Morgan).

Jim Nantz because of the stupid thing he'll say after a team wins a championship (EX: By george, the Hoyas are the champs). I like him besides that though.

Bryant Gumbel because he has a terrible announcers voice and he sucks at announcing.

Joe Buck because when he does baseball he tries to be all funny and stuff and he is about as funny as the holocaust. I like him when he does football though.

Skip Bayless because he is an idiot and just says things to get people angry.

Tony Paige because he is so boring, he agrees with everyone, doesn't know anything and calls everyone by the wrong name.

Everyone at 1050 because the signal doesn't get picked up in Stony Brook.

Karl Ravech because I think he is on the Yankees payroll he kisses so much Yankee ass.

I think thats it. There is probably more I'm forgetting though.

Luke, I was with you all the way until Ravech. Not that I like him (I don't - he enables and facilitates the moronic comments of Phillips, Kruk, etc.), but I'm pretty sure that he's a HUGE Sox fan.

By far Chris Russo...this is a man who knows little about most sports who sits there trying to "engage" the audience by proclaiming his undying hatred of all New York teams.

How this know nothing has risen to the status he has at WFAN is a sad commentary on all of us.

Sterling is definitely the worst announcer in any sport. Not only is he annoying and beyond a homer, he blows more calls than anyone I have ever heard. "It is high, it is far, iiitttt issss, a one-hopper off the wall, here comes giambi around third, heading home, no, he holds up...and he is out at the plate...."

Juhn Sterling with his messed up home run calls...a la yesterday when he goes off with the absurd "The Melk Man Delivers" LOL...and then says "What are they saying?? Oh, the ball was caught." Moron. And teamed with the Suzyn Waldman Creature who has the WORST VOICE in all of radio,.... not counting Chris Russo...it's pass the airsick bag.
