Super Quick No Mercy Thoughts
Matt Hardy def. Mark Henry
OK match. I would have actually liked to see Henry get it back, but if the plan is to build ECW around Matt, then he needed the clean win on Henry in a one-on-one to legitimize his championship.
Beth Phoenix def. Candice Michelle
A nothing match. I can't believe they didn't find time to give Santino the microphone for a few seconds.
Rey Mysterio def. Kane by DQ
I enjoyed this match more than I expected, despite some sloppy spots. I really enjoyed the chair shot spot that ended the match, and don't have a big problem with the DQ finish. Despite the problems in the storyline, Kane and Rey actually have a unique chemistry together in the ring.
Big Show def. the Undertaker by knockout
It's amazing how much influence MMA is continuing to have on pro wrestling. That said, a knockout finish like this is sort of goofy, because theoretically, wrestlers "punch" each other in the face all the time with little or no effect. I get that they're selling the fact that Show's punches are that much stronger, but it's a big stretch.
The MVP, Rhodes, Dibiase, et. al segment was fine. It's amazing how much C.M. Punk has fallen off in just a few short weeks since losing his title. He's almost exactly back where he was before he won the belt. I've seen nothing in Manu so far that says "money." I almost thought they were turning MVP babyface. That would be intriguing.
Triple H def. Jeff Hardy
Despite the usual slow beginning for a Triple H bout, this ended up being a heck of a match. I've got no problem with the finish. Triple H is the champ and needs to rack up decisive wins on PPV if he is to mean anything. He gave Jeff more than enough offense for Hardy to come out of the match looking strong. I liked this one a lot.
Chris Jericho def. Shawn Michaels
A fantastic match with a fantastic finish. I have to say, there was part of me that had a hard time enjoying the action while seeing the two men take so many dangerous risks. Heck, Jericho even lost a tooth. But that aside, this was an intense, hard-hitting and dramatic match, where the right man one. The tug-of war spot at the end was terrific. If that was the swan song for the Michaels-Jericho feud, they certainly went out on a high note.
Definitely a thumbs-up PPV. Take note TNA - this show had exactly one gimmick match, which made that one match seem that much more special.
I'll be back later.

Thanks for the input. Where the hell has Seth been?
Can't say I agree with you when it comes to the Big Show, Alfonso.
Triple H, MVP, Jeff Hardy, or Vladamir Kozlov can wind up and punch whoever they want, when a 7 ft, 450 lb guy is winding up and unloading a fist, it's gonna break faces. Especially when he went through boxing training and is throwing a proper punch.
The HBK/Jericho ladder match couldve taken place in a few weeks at Cyber Sunday, and it still would've seemed special, because it was Jericho/HBK. I dont think the fact that it was the only gimmick match made any difference with this one. Wrestling fans respect both men and know they can deliver, casual fans think HBK is god and hate Jericho.
And I don't think HHH's win was decisive. It was clean, but he just got a roll-up of sorts. As soon as hardy started scooting backwards for that non-traditional cover, I let out a groan because I knew he was about to get rolled up.
I thought Batista and JBL put on a solid slug-fest. Those two went out and didn't really slow down til the end. Much more than I expected from JBL. I actually look forward to watching this match again, along with the main event.
I'm sorry but I was pissed at hhh for the finish of that match. I mean no one kicks out of one finisher except for at the big pay-per views. Then HHH takes two finishers and manages to still get the win that pissed me off

That Triple H match had a terrible finish. It just sucked all the energy out of the arena.
^Definately. The finish to the HHH-Hardy match was awful. Jeff Hardy gives HHH both of his finishes and HHH still manages to roll him over for the win. HHH's influence is so obvious.
And Al, I agree that Manu hasn't impressed. Maybe it's because he doesn't have the charisma as Rhodes & Dibiase or maybe it's because he doesn't look like he belongs with them. Either way, Manu gets a thumbs down from me (so far).
I'll be honest... Shawn Michaels & Chris Jericho proved me wrong. When WWE announced the match, I panned it because I didn't think it could be special. After 10 years of younger men putting their bodies through illogical popper spots, I thought a match between two 40-year-olds would be tame, thus causing disappointment. Even during the match, I commented that we fans had seen everything a ladder match has to offer, so the gimmick was unnecessary.
And then, we got to that ending! Absolutely amazing! My heart was racing and I was literally on the edge of my seat. I still think that ending should have been saved to put the babyface over while keeping the heel strong, but just the fact that HBK and Jericho created something new in an overused Ladder match was something I truly respect out of both men as performers.
It was the perfect punctuation mark on 2008's Feud of the Year!
