Oh Yeah, That Other Match

The fact that I forgot that Batista beat JBL at the show tonight probably tells you all you need to know about this match. To be fair, I was a little distracted grading papers during this match, but in the five minutes it was on, nothing interesting enough happened to get my attention.

I totally get that Cryme Tyme is over huge with fans, but I still can't stand them.

The image of you grading papers during a WWE ppv makes me laugh for some reason. I mean most WWE shows have lacked anything good lately, and it may have swayed your grading to some poor college students.

I am with you on the Cryme Tyme opinion. I do not hate them, but just do not get the appeal. They come off as poor workers with really one or two lines. Boring.

Miz and Morrison though have given them at least a somewhat interesting storyline.

You should assign a paper for your students to interview current fans and find out what's wrong with the product today.

They should get extra credit if they watched No Mercy.

What's *not* to like about Cryme Tyme? Do you have no soul? Plus, JTG is pretty good.

Now, Batista, there's a guy who is totally forgettable.

You missed the greatest heel promo in months...nay years from JBL. Seriously, I thought it was fantastic.

It's often said that WWE need to capture the mainstream thinking like they did with Hogan and Austin to create the next boom...I say they could do a lot worse than building Raw about JBL as they attempted with Regal earlier in the year. Not because JBL is going to be the next Hogan, but because he is slap bang in the middle of current affairs relevance right now. The credit crunch is on everyone's mind, and can there be a better possible heel than the guy that claims he's getting bailed out by congress?

It could be huge. The next big babyface - possbily the next Austin - could then be born after feuding with JBL. If they made JBL to be this huuuuuuuuuuuge heel, so that he literally represented the credit crunch is television wrestling form, they could make star after star by going against him. Stars that will help fans feel good in the time of economic uncertainty. Stars that will 'overcome' the credit crunch, like everyone would love to, just like Austin stood up to his boss in the late 90s, like everyone wanted to.

Seriously, I say this as a huge Mike Adamle fan, but JBL is an oppurunity that is far too good to miss when the news is as it is.

JTG is one of THE most charismatic performers in WWE at the moment - I really enjoy listening to him talk and watching his matches. When he talks he sounds authentic - not that common given the current heavily-scripted state of affairs - he sells well, I like his moves and he's just fun. Personally, I'm not too bothered with Shad - harmless, but boring and riding on his partner's charisma. But I think JTG has real star quality, and that "connection with the audience" that people always bang on about.

It's a shame that he always takes the beating for the majority of their matches and Shad gets the glory, but I suppose it's inevitable in a small man/big man team.

The problem with JBL is that he's not getting heel heat, he's getting the old x-pac heat. I don't hate him because he is a dirty heel. I hate him because he bores the hell out of me and slows the program down to a halt. Is it any coincidence that when he was fueding with Jericho and Cena that any rolls they were on beforehand were stopped dead in their tracks. Jericho's return was going smooth until the JBL fued. Same with Cena. I wonder if there is any way to see the ratings of each WWE segment and see if JBL matches/segments lose any viewers.

JBL is a fantastic heel. He is not getting the mythical X-Pac heat, he is getting tremendous heel heat. I hate to sound confrontational (really I do) but that argument has always been ridiculous to me. People said it about Vickie G as well, but it's simply not true. It's phenominal heel heat, the kind that we haven't really seen since Vince/HHH in their primes around 2000.

I agree that Vickie is getting great heel heat. So does Edge, Chris Jericho, etc... But JBL is just plain boring. As a huge wrestling fan, that is how i feel. You obviously feel the opposite. We may agree to disagree, but I wonder if someone took a poll about this then how many people would agree that he is dreadful to watch.
