Ultimate Warrior Interview, Part 2
Here's the second, and last (I promise), part of my recent interview ith the Ultimate Warrior. You can read the first part here.
In this part, the Warrior discusses getting into "ring shape" for his return, and rumors of him getting involved with TNA or being part of WrestleMania:
Warrior on training for his return alongside RVD:“That was one part of the deal too that was workable, too - the timing of it. I had three months to get ready. So in my head, I know what my self discipline is. I know what I continue to do. Of course, I’ve taken some long hiatuses in the past. The longest one was from 1992 to 1996. I didn’t get back in the ring and get any training before then. I knew I definitely needed to do that this time.
I didn’t really do any training with Rob (Van Dam). I hadn’t met Rob. He lives in California. I live in New Mexico. It was an easy trip over to there. There was a great place to do some training that I wish I had known about before hand. Jesse Hernandez - one of the old WWF referees and one of the old jobber guys, a super great guy – has a place out there at American University in San Bernadino. It’s just an incredible place – just awesome. And he’s got a ring set up. So we got together for a day. And that was my plan – to get together with those guys more often. I did have a ring set up in Barcelona, but it was outside under the pretense that the weather was going to be good. And when we got there, it was only sunny for two days. It rained every other day. So that put a damper on being able to get in the ring, and doing the stuff I needed to do.”
Warrior on getting motivated for his return match:“That’s the thing that drove me the most - the challenge of it. I was inspired by the challenge. I want to be inspired. I’m not inspired by much, or what going on in culture today. And that directly connected to wrestling. I don't watch professional wrestling. I don’t watch it at all. When I say that to people. They don’t believe it. I don’t watch any television hardly at all. I’m not really interested or inspired by any programming. I’ve never watched a television serial show, I’ve never watched an episode of Survivor or Lost or the most popular shows - the Sopranos. Never once. I just don’t. I’d rather read or do something, get out, get in sports, or get active myself. I find a lot that I’m always motivating myself. very rarely am I motivated by other people. So this was an opportunity to do that.”
Warrior on the possibility of a more extended ring return: “Oh, I don’t know. A lot people immediately started talking. All the experts. David Putz-ner started talking that there was a discussions going on (with TNA). There was never a discussion with TNA about anything. There wasn’t any larger plan to try to stir the interest or curiosity of TNA or WWE.
Warrior on rumors of him being involved in WrestleMania XXV:
I was doing some media stuff on the radio and some long time fan of wrestling and WrestleMania (and I)... had an exchange about WrestleMania 25. I was basically saying sarcastically, “Yeah, they’ve used all the other bums up. On a silver anniversary WrestleMania, they need to do something special. So how about something between me and McMahon?" I think the better match would be between me and Shane McMahon. That would inspire me more to do some more serious training. I think Shane is a real go-getter. I think he’s a real inspiring kid.”

Where did the rest of it go? Anyway, all I said was the match he had with OJ was hard to watch. If your schtick is running fast and press slamming people, why would you come back at an age where you can't do either of those things well?
Wasn't it Warrior that accused Shane McMahon of sleeping with his wife at one time? I'm guessing maybe that's why he wants "the kid" in the ring and finds him "inspiring".
I wasnt even hoping for a miracle , this guy is done , this return was a mistake , it wasnt ultimate at all , yeah he still has it but not like before , wm25 is pure fantasy , only be seen on videogames , u will not see warrior either on tna or wwe , never say never but at least not next 50 years

I know many have accused him of being gay, but I am not sure he is. I know he acts like he hates gays, but then he agrees to wrestle a gay man in Orlando Jordan, so I don't think he really hates gays or else why would he do this. It doesn't make sense. In the end it should not matter what his sexual orientation is as long as he doesn't shove it down people's throats. He should not be judged on his sexuality, but rather what he has done with his life. His sexual orientation should be his own business. Also, to Mark, when did Warrior accuse Shane McMahon for sleeping with his wife? Are you referring to his first wife or his current one? Does anyone know anything about his first or second wife?

i sense some negative energy towards the warrior here, what gives? if you watched wrestling when Warrior first burst onto the scene then you would have known how prominent role Warrior played in making pro wrestling what it is today... sadly most people today are just kids who think they know it all just because they have read an article or two on the net, but worse are those who cheered Warrior on in their youth but now jeer him! Guys, let me tell you people that men like Warrior & Hulk Hogan have made pro-wrestling... with their gimmicks and personals, not the crafty technical wrestlers! Whether you like it or not!

I don't know if Shano Mac ever slept with Warrior's wife, but I know I read that either Warrior's wife or one of his previous wives was a striptease dancer. Years ago one of a newspaper exposed Mr. Hellwig's sexual orientation and talked about him doing photo shoots with gay men for money. Others like Iron Sheik and Missy Hyatt have said this was true. I don't know if Mr. Warrior (Hellwig) refuted this or not. One of his previous wives confirmed Mr. Hellwig was intimate with men which is why she divorced him. Years ago Mr. Hellwig would often have a very young Shano Mac come to his appartment, but I don't think that is any stranger then Hulk touching his daughter's private parts. I do think it is interesting that he now wants to wreslte Shano. I think Warrior came out of retirement to wrestle because is public speaking career imploded (as did his comic book and wrestling school) and he needs to make a lving like the rest of us. I think his gimmic was very cool years ago, but clearly doesn't work on a 50 year old gray haired man.

Warrior, if you read this, I want my $30 bucks back you bum. That return match was crap. If I wanted to see some guy who couldn't hack it anymore in the ring, I would have just went to the seniors home.
You are pathetic and you should have staid retired. If you took returning to the ring as a challenge, I can tell you with 100% certainty that you failed miserably.
P.S. I use to be an "Ultimate" Warrior fan. You bum! You couldn't even work with the talent in the WWE or TNA now. It would be a joke.
To those who were wondering where the accusation of Shane sleeping with warriors first wife came from, I remember him blogging about it on his site some time ago. He was discussing some book she was about to release and she stated she had slept with a "future wwe power figure". Warrior made the claim that it must have been Shane because Shane often invited his wife to the McMahon's vacation home in Florida and even went to his home in Texas when he was on the road. Based on the timeline I'm guessing Shane was very early in his twenties. I found it very interesting.
It's funny because Raven in his shoot video also talks about how he and Shane used to party quite a bit and have competitons on who could get the most chicks for the night (apparently before Shane was married in 1996). Apparently when it comes to the ladies, Vince is pretty tame compared to Shane. It's just Shne hasn't come right out and admitted it.
I don't blame warrior for divorcing his wife for sleeping with Shano after all warrior does not have a stupid button on him that you can press and make him go stupid. Some research seems to suggest that one of warrior's wives (Sherri Tyree) was a big time stripper in Texas so it is not surprising she would sleep with Shano. Tyree claimed it was she who divorced warrior for his homosexual acting out in the marriage. Tyree was going to release a tell all book but sources say she alledgedly either got hush money and /or was threatened by warrior. This is better than any WWE storyline. Although warrior's return macth was terrible, he still was a good character a long time ago. Aparetnly he remarried; I hope for the sake of the marriage and his children that he does not cheat on her with other men. Hopefully any homosexuality is behind him (no pun intended).
There has been a lot of talk about Mr. Hellwig's sexual orientation, but why should that matter. I am gay and live a full productive life along with my partner. Like Hellwig I support a return to a traditonal, conservative way of life. Yes, many say Warrior is gay and some rumors swirl in homosexual circles that Hellwig and the great wrestler, Pat Patterson were lovers which some say is the reason Warrior got a push from Patterson and the wwe. I don't know what really happened but who cares. I think Warrior may have sowed his oats in the past but now seems commited to his current wife. Despite some mischaracterizations Warrior is not against homosexuality per say and has even said at is now infamous talk at DePaul that he has many gay freinds. I for one am one gay man who would gladly get behind Mr. Warrior (PUN INTENDED) and my life goal and destiny is to get other gay men to stand behind Warrior.
Warrior blows! And you can interpret that on more than one level.
