I found a web site that would have been very helpful as I was compiling my last post on the Nassau Coliseum's rich wrestling history.
At nyprowrestling.com you can find, by year, the results to every wrestling card ever held at the Coliseum - as well as most any wrestling show in the NY area going back to the 1800's. Pretty amazing stuff.
I had a blast pulling up the match listings for the very first wrestling show I ever attended. Here they are:
05/01/1987 WWF - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum (15,275; sellout)
S.D. Jones def Terry Gibbs
Nick Kiniski def Frenchy Martin
Brutus Beefcake def Johnny V (sub. Adrian Adonis)
B. Brian Blair drew Demolition (Ax & Smash) Ax (ddq)
Harley Race def Sivi Afi
Tito Santana drew Butch Reed
Champions Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart def Davey Boy Smith & the Dynamite Kid (dq)
WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Title (Cage Match): Ricky Steamboat* def Randy Savage
After reading that, I remembered spending the day drawing up a huge banner on a white sheet bashing Adrian Adonis, who was one of WWF's top heels at the time, only to find out later that night that he no-showed. What a burn. I also remember being thrilled over touching Terry Gibbs as he ran to the ring.
I'm looking forward to talking more about wrestling's history on LI, this Sunday's Great American Bash and anything else you might want to talk about when Seth and I host a live chat this Friday at noon. Hope to see you there.
