ROH vs. WWE Interpromotional Dream Match?

I've done a bit of comparing here over the last few days between WWE and Ring of Honor. It got me thinking about this little treasure that I came across on Youtube some time ago. Some of you may have already seen this.

If there is such a thing as an interpromotional dream match between ROH and WWE, this might be it: WWE's top star, John Cena, taking on ROH's top star, "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson. And it actually happened five years ago, when Danielson was still a relative newcomer to ROH and occasionally appeared as a WWE jobber, and Cena was only beginning to discover the character that would make him wrestling's biggest attraction.

I admit, it doesn't quite mean what Flair vs. Hogan would have in the mid 1980s, but it's a neat little web gem nonetheless. Enjoy.

Nice. Good find.

Seeing how gimmicks evolve over time is something special. Hard to believe Cena was only at the beginning of his rap persona here...no Basic Thuganomics music, bright yellow jeans, awesome.

"when Danielson was still a relative newcomer to ROH"

Doing my math correctly, this match would've taken place back in 2003. Danielson wrestled on the VERY FIRST ROH show, and quite a few after that before going to Japan and various indies only to return to ROH frequently. I fail to see how he was a "newcomer".

ROH itself was only a year old at the time - maybe less. Everyone was a newcomer.

i use to watch Danielson when he was in hbk's TWA. It was great times with him Lance Cade, and Spankey but the best one of the hole group was a kid named shooter schultz he got picked up by the wwe and never made it out of the ovw or where ever the wwe sent him. ( i heared he got hurt)

Geesh... look how small Cena is there compared to now

Yellow jeans AND boots. No wonder people love him so much.

Dear God, I'd forgotten about Velocity. There were points when the wrestling on that show was better than RAW, sadly. Hell, Brian Danielson was on there.

And is it my imagination, or is that Velocity crowd hotter than any RAW crowd in a while?

If only this match would happen nowadays and be given about 20 minutes or so. 5 star classic right there.

Why doesn't Vince use Josh for ECW, he's far better than Adamle?
