Wrestling Radio Show on LI

I have foolishly neglected to mention a terrific wrestling radio show here on Long Island that has been kind enough to have me on as a guest a couple times in recent weeks to plug this blog.

Over The Ropes on C.W. Post’s WCWP can be heard Saturday nights at 10 both online and at 88.1 FM.

Nick Malone and Max Caster are two very knowledgeable hosts, and they offer compelling interviews and fun segments each week.

Most recently, I took part in a WWE fantasy draft on the show, in which we took turns putting together teams of five wrestlers who will earn points over the next several months depending on their win/loss record on television. I ended up with Bam Neely and Chavo Guerrero, among others, so I'm not holding my breath that I'll come out the big winner.

I got my start in the journalism business as part of WGBB Get in the Ring program, and later briefly hosted my own show on the station, so I know how much fun a wrestling radio show can be. Nick and Max seem to be having a blast and Over The Ropes is definitely worth a listen. Check them out here.

Thanks for the info about the new radio show. I used to love the Long Island wrestling radio shows when I was a kid. It was fun listening to Jody Mcdonald on wfan at 3am on saturdays. Then we used to get John Arezzis spotlight, Vince Russo and mat rat, and the very funny get in the ring with Sir Adam and the Phantom. They were all different. Jody Mcdonald came off as a fan, while Arrezzi was much more serious. Russo's show was very cartoonish and GITR gave a lot of info with a comedic twist. I learned that the Iron Sheik was crazy from gitr before he ever appeared on Stern. It was way harder to get legit information back then and they were one of the first ways to get mass information out. Whatever happened to all these Radio host's?

Jody Mac is on 1050 ESPN at 10am on Saturdays and Sundays. I like his show.

Thanks for pointing out this radio show: I will continue to listen to them in the future. For years I used to listen to "Wrestling Wednesday" on WHPC (90.3), but they disappeared while I was on vacation a few years ago and I never learned what happened to them.
