The answer to yesterday's question: Gennifer Flowers' guest at WrestleMania XIV was The Rock, who unveiled his "Smell what The Rock is cooking" for the first time. One newsday.com reader says this was also the first time he referred to himself in some way as the People's Champion -- can anyone confirm that?
Anyway, today's question is about your friend and mine, Triple H, who this Sunday will be in the Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship. He seems to do that a lot at WrestleMania. So when was the last time that Triple H was in a WrestleMania match that wasn't for the WWE or World Title?

WrestleMania X-7... Undertaker vs Triple H... wow, 7 years ago!
Greg is sadly correct. And that is why Trips is the anti-christ
Yep it was Wrestlemania X-7. Unfortunately we have been treated to Trips in the main event pretty much for 8 straight years. That's Hogan status. The only other one was last year and that is because he was injured. Wrestlemania X-7 was before Trips officially married the bosses daughter and also Stone Cold and the Rock were still around, so that explains that.
Wrong stearling,
He wasn't in the main event last year so we had a year break. Sorry though would like to see someone rather than Cena.
X-seven was his last non-title WM
Technically, he wasn't in the main event at XIX, even though he wrestled booker t for the world heavyweight title, the main event slot went to Brock and Angle. I for one, don't buy none of that double main event stuff. And if you do count the match with booker as a main event, then the main event of X8 was actually the rock and hogan, as it was sold as a much bigger match than HHH vs Y2J
But the hogan status is indeed scary, eventhough if Stone Cold were still healthy and the Rock actually wanted to wrestle we would probably be having Rock/Austin 8 by now.
It was vs. Taker at WMX7.
For all you haters out there, if you just look at the Mania matches he was in, the majority of them (I don't recall the booker T one) were excellent matches. I was at WMXX, and it was the best mania match shy of the Ironman match. HHH is always at the main event, because he is THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS.
Generally, you put the best in the business at the top of the card. The past 2 years have been funny with Trips being DX funny, but he is best when he is serious, and that is what he is doing now.
All this complaining about Triple H hogging the main event is silly... If he sucked and couldn't deliver in the main event time and time again, then the criticism would be deserved. And yes, even if he did suck every time he'd probably STILL get to main event (for obvious political reasons).
But you've got to look at the facts: Tripps is always reliable in the main event, and there are fewer people that fit that bill than you think. Undertaker, maybe. Michaels, maybe (although H-B-Christ wouldn't make a very good main event heel these days). Cena, certainly (I'm not a fan of his at all, but he works hard and deserves his spot). Not Batista (who can't work a four-star match without a lot of help). Not Orton (who's still not quite a show stealer just yet). Not Jeff Hardy, who unfortunately can't seem to handle the pressure and responsiblity of the top of the card. Not Jericho, because he's not half as motivated as he was six or seven years ago. And not JBL or Big Show because who the hell wants to watch JBL or Big Show chase the title at Wrestlemania?
Triple H will never be as big or as hot as Austin or Rock or Hogan or Flair. You could argue that in different ways he may not ever surpass Michaels or Savage or Hart or Undertaker, either. But he deserves his spot. He's a great main eventer, regardless of what kind of guy he is or who he's related to. He may not be a likable guy, but he delivers the goods.
Let me just say that Trips is a great wrestler. However, he is not on the level of the guys mentioned in the last paragraph of the last comment. He has done more to bury other talent then elevate them.
Ric Flair was in the main event for years, however, who was Sting before he wrestled Flair. The same can be said for Ricky Steamboat, Lex Luger, Barry Windham, etc. He elevated those guys. RVD, Booker T, and Kane were more established stars until than ran into guess who. That is my beef with him.
Also, to say that the fact that he is married to the boss' daughter and that Stone Cold and the Rock are gone has no bearing on his main event status is false. However, he is a great performer, just not on that top tier level like he portrays to be.
