Steve,

The Rangers could add some size and grittiness by trying to make a deal with the Islanders.
My suggestion would be to send Fritche, Kalinin, Prucha (if your not going to resign him) to the Islanders for Weight, Guerin and Witt. This deal works for both teams in that the Islanders get some young servicable players and the Rangers get some toughness (Witt & Guerin) and some scoring/PP help in Weight. What do you think Steve?

^

Rangers dont have the cap space to take on those player

The Rangers and Islanders will never make a trade.

Why would the Isles want Kalinin?

The Isles will be trying to get picks for their rental players.

Honestly, if the Rangers do make a trade or pick anyone up as they gear up for the playoffs (which isn't a definite, of course), I'm guessing they'd try and get soem depth on D.

Yes, yes, yes, I know they can't score, but there are no players in the minors that you'd say are steady NHL ready depth Dman. I like Potters game, but I doubt management would trust him to be their lone depth Dman.

The Islanders?...LMAO, 'yeah right, and you got a better chance at seeing Jesus. No, we need a player like Excelby, and I said that since when DUDE?...June?

I wouldn't mind seeing Aminsov in the line up to see how well he does. If Potter can crack the line up, I'd like to see him throw his weight around and wanna see his shot as well....as far as Kalinin goes, apparently Renny see's something in him that we all don't. Just once, I'd like to see Renny man up and tell us why he's still in the line up [][]\_ _

not that i would be upset if they made a trade with the islanders, but for Weight? Guerin? those are not the type of players we need to be bringing in. Aging stars in decline rented at the expense of youth? Sound familiar to anyone

*slaps forehead*

I for one would love to just see the young talent we have mature, but we all know that wont happen the way renney runs things.... its such a shame i feel Dubi, Z, Cally, Pru are all wasting away in his "system".

Draxen,

how is Cally "wasting away" in Renney's system?

He is playing more and more every night, penalty kills and now is becoming an important part of the powerplay.

I wish every player would "waste away" like that.

Criticize Renney at your will, but at least make sense.

possibly Cally is a bad example, I just listed young players offhand. But I will contend that playing on a more uptempo team Cally could have 14 -15 goals by now.

There is not doubt, players, most of them are not able to reach their potential in Renny's system. That being said, is it the system or the individual player ie: Dubi, Z, Prucha, Drury and Gomez for example. ok, Dude, and the rest of ya, what are your thoughts here...who to really blame, the players more for not adjusting to Renny's system or the System not working for the players, come on, let's hear it!!!!!!!!!

Callahan has 11 goals.

Nobody is a bigger fan of Dubinsky than me, nobody.

But there is no way I am blaming Renney for Dubinsky's lack of production.

Dubinsky has played in every key situation all year, 1st line, powerplay, he hasn't gotten it done.

Zherdev is having a career year, not sure how much Renney is hurting him.

Why on earth did dubi falter so much after having a terrific camp, and a great start to the season in Europe? One thing I have noticed is glaring....he stopped going to the net and has spent waay too much time along the boards /l__ _ _/ ________________

Ruutu has to be the cheapest player in the nhl, biting Peters in the 1st period of Buff. game

Sather ,Renney, Pern, the players, they all share the blame. No one has stepped up to lead this team yet. Sather definitely did a poor job putting the roster together but the right coach could get this group playing much better. IMO Renneys offensive stiflling system and lack of holding all his players equaly accountable are the biggest contributers to their poor play. I think thats why a new coach would be the most effective way to turn this team around. It's also the easiest way around the cap problem that Sather has created. Unless they keep playing the way they have the past two months, I don't see Renney going anywhere and untill this team goes deep into the playoffs I won't have any faith in Renney's system or his coaching style.

Potvin is off his meds again.

What about Paul Marra whereing the "C" ? He seems to have the strenght for it

Why on earth did Dubi falter so much after having a terrific camp, and a great start to the season in Europe?

R-E-N-N-E-Y - his "system" on managing the youth to build the future.

That's what I've been thinking Garden Faithful.....his system has stifled this team offensivlely. Mara is an excellent on ice leader!!!!...and Kocur, u r right on...we're just too soft a team...apparently Sather and Renny thought small and quick would overtake big quick and strong-W-R-O-N-G! _x_

PIP, i noticed the same thing about Dubz. But he's the only person on his line that will go get the puck on the boards. I think he's concentrating too much on D. Though he has been responsible in that aspect.

The concept is similar - if you have a horse - you loosen the reins and give him his head for better perform. Tighten up on the reins and you hold him back.
He's got to let these guys play their own game. I think that turnaround came about when Renney squashed the PlayStation line and then benched Dubi. Same for Voros.

Just curious but what ever happened to Jarko Immonen? The Ranger Prospect is playing in Europe right now so I don't know if the Rangers still have his right and he is planning on coming back here or he is staying in Europe to play.

Did anyone ever stop to think that maybe Dubinsky is a 3rd/4th line center who looked better than he really was by playing with Jagr? And that he'll simply be a serviceable 3rd/4th line center for the rest of his career? (kinda like Manny Malhotra has been since he also started with exceedingly high expectations in NY)

Dan,

there isn't one thing comparable about the Manny Malhotra situation and Brandon Dubinsky.

Malhotra was ruined by the Rangers because they threw him into the fire at 18 years old. He was a high first round pick who had unreasinable expectation immediately.

Dubinsky was 21 years old by the time he played his first game, he had AHL time and his game is completely different from Malhotra.

What you should be worried about is the Rangers not having patience with Dubinsky and Dubinsky getting traded to another organization and having a career like Doug Weight, that's what you should be afraid of.

Dubinsky has size, he always gives 100%, he can skate and he is tough, he's gonna be a star in this league, I pray it's with us.

if dubi was ruined by 1 short benching that does not say a lot about him. he is far from a future star in this league unless we're now including b minus players in that definition. still think we should keep him as i like him as 3rd line center

immonen and prospect kin same sentence. i don't think so. was way overhyped since he was part of the leetch deal, albeit as a throw in. the major part of the deal was the 1st rd pick. Toronto refused to part with their top prospects as part of that deal, although in retrospect none of them advanced to a decent level anyway. immonen has to be about 27 now and is free to sign anywhere i think (although i have no way of knowing if his europe deal is for more than 1 yr).. i fully expect him to remain in europe
