It's a wrap from Philly....

Lucky, these Rangers.

Lucky for the fourth goal, a rising shot by Michal Rozsival on the power play at 16:13 of the first period.

Just enough. Gutsy finish, especially on the 5-on-3 and the pressure at the end.

"They came out like a team that has played three games already and we were just, I wouldn't say overwhelmed, I just don't think we were ready to play," said Flyers captain Mike Richards. "We got caught behind the eight-ball early...give them credit, they came out playing."

Flyers coach John Stevens: "I like the way we responded...we kind of got our legs back. (After pulling Marty Biron) I thought Niitymaki came in and made some terrific saves for us and gave us the chance to win."

Said Steve Valiquette: "We're going to find a million different ways to win this year, unfortunately, they are not all going to be pretty. We're finding the resiliency to do that right now."

Nik Zherdev was voted first star of the game. His rebound of a shot that glanced off the waist of Aaron Voros gave the Rangers the 1-0 lead and his tape-to-tape pass from behind the cage to Betts was superb.

Dan Briere (two assists) played very gritty. Valiquette said he was throwing some sneaky punches and elbows.

Colton Orr fought Riley Cote at the 1:48 mark of the first....Mara was called twice for roughing but played a strong, physical game again...Dubinsky started slow, but decisioned Richards in his scrap at 16:23 of the first...Lauri Korpikoski played just 8:18...The Rangers had just 27 shots....Betts was a plus-2, as was Fredrik Sjostrom....The Rangers won 57 percent of the faceoffs...Wade Redden, Marc Staal, Paul Mara and Ryan Callahan had zero shots...

Surely the boofest was worth commenting on, no? I loathe the Flyers, but am loving their fans tonight.

I missed the Orr tilt, did he do well? This team needs Orr. He is playing and contributing very very well. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a dimwit. (oops...that's not confrontational is it? :-))
Now, just a bit more bashing on the blue line, please. Soooo nice to beat the most hated Flyers yet again.

PALIN = BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!, made my night!

LGR baby!

Can someone explain to me why every player on our team feels the need to dive anytime an opposing player touches them? Did anyone see Blair Betts purposely skate right into Brad Richards leg in the 3rd and go flying as if someone launched him from a cannon? Thankfully the ref knew our team is a bunch of diving whiners and didn't call anything. I miss Jagr. He's the only one who would actually stay on his feet and try to score rather then drop to the ground and try to draw a penalty.

The refs are at it again when it comes to the Rangers. That non-call on Richards going thru the crease on Philly's 2nd goal was awful.

yeah, ok Rangers1

we are 4-0 for the first time in 25 years, but you wanna talk about diving and how much you miss Jagr.

Go away, shooo-shooo-shooo

The Rangers system of puck persuit fits this roster perfectly. It shows..Look at the score. Speed fitness skills and heart.Sick.

Can't blame Renney for trying to find the best guys to put in spots. His move to put Voros on line 2 looks like a winner. First 2 lines are set (for now). Betts and Orr have showed they should be solid contributors for line 4. That leaves 4 jobs open with Callahan, Korpokoski, Sjostrom, Prucha, Dawes, Rissmiller and Fritsche fighting for those 4 spots. Callahan has the best shot of staying where he is and if he does, leaves 3 spots for 6 guys.

Too bad there wasn't a longer training camp to work out this problem. Once Renney decides who he wants, Sather might be able to deal the guys who didn't make it for either one outstanding forward or a hard hitting defenseman.

I've been a Renney basher for a long time but this may be the kind of team that fits into Renney's style. What impressed me last night was they got the win without much from the 1st line with a flu-ridden Gomez. Imagine how good this team will be when they gwt a healthy Gomez back in there. Also noticed that Kalinen had his best game yet as a Ranger. Rest up and go get em tomorrow.

Have to believe Sjostrom has earned himself a spot in the line-up.

Korpikoski and Callahan set on the third line (Korpikoski has not been great but I think he has earned himself a 10-15 game trail)

I would like to see Fritsche given a shot (probably happens tomorrow night) and keep Rismiller as the 13th forward with Anisimov on call in Hartford.

Pass on Gaborik and say no to Shanny.....we are going to need the cap space to sign Dubinsky, Staal and Zherdev

Trade Prucha and Dawes for a utility d-man and a pick.....

Where is Struds?

Strudwick signed with Edmonton over the summer.

I wish him well.

Blue totally agree with you. We dont need to bring in a star winger when we have Zherdev playing like one and Duby on the fringe of a huge breakout year. Naslund is gone in 2 years which will be $4 mil off the cap. Lets not forget about what we have coming. Lets get rid of Prucha and Dawes and get picks so we can keep building this team. Love how the Rangers have bounced back from there free spending years and really built up the system. I dont think Renney and Sather have been given enough credit for that.

I know we don't need any Free Agents we have some unbelievable talent coming through our system. I am so excited to be a Ranger fan. Think about it our Future line-up could be

Naslund Gomez Drury
Cherpeneov Dubinsky Zherdev
Callahan Anisimov Voros
Dawes Korpikoski Fritsche

Rozzi Redden
Staal Girardi
Sangs Del Zotto

That is 4 lines that our explosive and could put the puck in the net. This is a line-up without any free agents after this year.
