Ventures in Vienna
Checking in from Vienna...
Here in this magnificent city of pastries and music, just taking a well-deserved hiatus with my wife before heading back to Prague for the practice on Thursday. Caught the recap of the 8-1 defeat of SC Bern, which wasn't exactly unexpected. And that's without Staal (palm) Naslund, Dawes, Mara, etc...Tonight's Victoria Cup game will shine more light on the progress of this squad....
Highlights so far: the Van Gogh exhibit of drawings and paintings at the Albertina, the Vienna Philharmonic at the spectacular Golden Hall, which seats about 1,200 and is acoustically perfect, schnitzel at Huth, the mushroom dishes at the Imperial Hotel, the gilded, breathtaking St. Peter's.
All recommended. But bring your wallet. I'll have to take a second job at the Tarrytown Hess station to pay for this sojurn.
But what the hell, as a wise man once told me, you should try to live as if you've already died...
More later and plenty from Prague down the road...

Hey Zipay, Lundqvist still starting tomorrow? Hearing some injury stories.
Steve,
They looked much better today than the Devils game, the next game will start to tell the tale.
By the way, it's not St. Peters in Vienna, its St. Stephens with the gilded roof.

Wow is it me or did Dubinsky and Zherdev have alot of chemistry same with Drury and Gomez. Zherdev looks like a clear play maker if you ask me. I mean I saw him score one goal this preseason but his passes are ridiculous. We need a clear sniper on this team. Gaborik would work nice with Zherdev and maybe Dubinsky. Wishful thinking though
So from today:
Drury-Gomez-Naslund
Zherdev-Dubinsky-Callahan
Dawes/Prucha-Korpikoski-Voros
Fritsche-Betts-Orr
I'm not really sure where Prucha/Dawes fits in there, unless Orr isn't in the lineup.
'Slow down you crazy child
Take the phone off the hook and disappear for a while
It's alright you can afford to lose a day or two
When will you realize...
Vienna waits for you'
We walked in the cold air -
Freezing breath on the window pain
Lying waiting
A man in the dark in the picture frame
So mystic and soulful.
A voice reaching out and a piercing cry
It stays with you until
The feeling is gone
only you and I
This means nothing to me
This means nothing to me
Oh Vienna -
The screen door slams, Mary's dress waves..
Dude .... Thanks for the Laugh!!!!!!
how about
baby baby why can't you sit still, who killed that bird out on your window sill...
Zip,
Since when did your blog turn into the best of Rick Steves Europe.
Won the Victorias Cup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....Pre season or not-That was a fabulous comeback against Meterlurg!......what a great goal by Callahan!!....Drury folks will be our new Capt.!...kewl...1st 2 periods we suked!....good come back in the 3rd...now let's keep that 3rd period enthusiasm and no quit attitude into Saturdays game against Tampa and take it from there \_ _
Just got finished watching the game. This team is posied to have a great year. Before anyone breaks down the game and says this person unerpreformed or that person didn't do that, this team showed that they have what it takes to stay in a game. The thing that sticks out to me the most though is the team mentality. They seem to have no distractions (ie 68) They are playing for each other, not for themselves. In Drury's interview after the game you could see that he looked comfortable and relaxed, and that could not be said for last year. These guys look like the have come together and all want to win for each other. It also showed when they let the former Meterlurg players accept their medals first and get the Victoria Cup.
Being a fan of this team, we always hope for the best and want to win the cup, but this team has a special look about them. I cannot wait until Sat. to get this season started.
LETS GO RANGERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that I will feel better about this team if Henrik plays well saturday and sunday. Still feel a little concerned about him health wise.
I think Dubinsky and Callahan and really going to establish themselves this season as our two best home grown forwards since Weight, Amonte and Marc Savard, but these two are going to actually do it as Rangers.
Maybe Drury will really assert himself as the leader of this team this season now that the large personalities of Avery, Jagr and Shanahan are gone. We shall see.
