Decision time on Shanahan looming...

An agent (not Mats Sundin's or Brendan Shanahan's) told me on background a few minutes ago that he believes the Rangers have suggested to Sundin that if he remains undecided by Tuesday, they will move on. Then the brass could offer Shanahan, 39, a one-year deal as camp formally opens. Haven't confirmed, but the scenario makes some sense to me. How long can you wait? The first pre-season game is a week from Saturday.

My sources at Faceoff Hockey just informed me that Mats Sundin Will be signing a two year contract with the NY Rangers, and there is a Drury trade that will be announced tomorrow to free up the necessary cap space.

Great to finally get past this Sundin roller coaster.....doubt very much our NYR will trade Drury...doesen't make a lot of sense since he's one of our pillars. But if the Oilers can trade the Great One to LA, anything in sports can happen. The only players who will not be moved and are considered "untouchable" are AO and Crosby.
Drury not only has a NTC but a NMC!!! There is no way to possibly move Drury, unless he was really upset by being a 3rd line center last year and doesnt want the "C" as most predict he will receive this year.
That was a troll. I seem to be on the trolls, Steady and Sir William's Gaydar. Why? Who cares! There isn't enough energy in the world to debate with people like them, or folks that buy into such a ridicules rumor as the one posted at 22:57.

Rangers can't trade Drury but they CAN trade Gomez, but let's not get into that again.
Regarding Nedved's comments about playing in Russia, I think a lot of players are going to find playing in Russia, with temperatures in the winter in the minus 20's, lack of sunlight, no nice road trips to Florida, Texas, Arizona or California are going to eventually make this little exodus of players using the Russian league as leverage extinct.
Making 5 million bucks a year, living and playing in the U.S. is a lot better life than making 10 million a year living in Russia.
Radulov is already saying he wants to come back to the NHL.

steve congrats on writing for AM NY since I dont get newsday (the print paper) in nyc its nice to read something about hockey on the subway. just got my half season package with my friends going to home opener and they make u get one preseason game so we took the first game against ott. i want to watch hockey already lets go.

I am taking these lines from a article I read today for arguments sake:
Naslund – Gomez – Zherdev
Callahan – Drury – Dawes
Possible Third Lines:
Prucha - Dubinsky- Sjostrom
Voros - Dubinsky- Sjostrom
Fritsche - Dubinsky- Sjostrom
Possible Fourth lines:
Rissmiller - Betts – Voros/Orr
Rissmiller/Voros - Betts – Prucha
Add Shanny to the mix for a spot on the third or fourth would be my guess.
Not to mention that everyone's favorite rumor guys has the Rangers being Jock Blocked by the other teams around the NHL because of their maneuvers to get Sundin.
There is definitely stuff on the table and coming down the line in my opinion.

Brother I get it. I fall for the trolls myself sometimes. AND, am the target of the trolls often, too often. Plus, I take the back lash for the trolls doings. Why, I don't really know. More importantly, I usually don't give a rat arse. I'll tell you one thing, If the trolls knew how little I cared about their shenanigans I'd fall off there radar. But one things for sure my man, provoking me isn't easy. So Steady and Sir William, as frustrated with things as they are, brought out the worst today. That's about as much emotion as I can give this place. That and I think they should grow the F- up. Because for all I (we, anyone) know, their the trolls. Maybe it's my funny screen name that grabs their attention? You think I should change it? I'd use "A-Hole" to beat the trolls to the punch, but something tells me I won't be posted too often. :)

The more and more i think about it:
1. Shanny OR Sundin will definitely be a Ranger this season.
2. Prucha will be traded as a salary dump for a depth D-man (Hoping its Alex Edler from Vancouver or Ian White from Toronto. Both teams need some much needed offensive help and currently have too many d-men on their roster).
3. There will be 1 other 3rd or 4th line player traded (Fritsche, Sjostrom, or Rissmiller depending on how well Jamtin looks)
4. I dont think any young guy from Hartford is getting a chance to play full-time for the team this year, unless its a D-man (possibly Potter or Pock). Next Year we will have about 4 making the team, I just dont see it happening this year under the logic of 1 more year in Hartford playing 1st line minutes is better then being a “healthy scratch” in the NHL this year.
5. Nedved WILL be Cut !!! ....... Thank God

say by some miracle they bring Shanny and Sundin in, figuring that out cap wise is beyond impossible, but here is a crack at the possible lines if said miracle happens:

Shanny needs to be willing to play for the 1 million that Rissmiller was going to get. Rissmiller is moved.

Somehow I always read that the Rangers have 2-3 million dollars in space left, take that 2 million, offer Sundin a one year deal for 4 million.
Probably just a pipe dream to think that the Rangers could agree with Sundin and Shanny to get them to play for 5 million total this season, but if they both wanna play here so bad, it's all we can afford.
We need Roszival, as much as everyone gets on his case, he is very much needed.
Anyway, now back to reality.
Steve does a great job keeping us up to date but the lack of registration makes it impossible to carry on a conversation because of trolls. Hope you implement that registration soon Steve.
Dubi has the right idea there. Both he and Jess work hard trying to keep their subscribers fully informed and I highly recommend a subscription there. Dubi does not tolerate any trolls and if you address a particular individual, you know it's him and not some troll imitator
I may differ with them on some hockey opinions but I was wrong to make it personal. They call it as they see it and as long as they don't mind honest differences from their subscribers, they should be very successful and provide a great service.

No Vinnie it was me. I may not agree with them and they are not my friends but they do provide great info on the Rangers. They talk to management, they talk to prospects. Plus like I said, I got too personal. If they did, that's their problem, I don't like to operate that way.

I agree w/Slick and still wanna see the kids. I know all teams in sports need balance, just think Shanny will slow down the transition game. It is this transition game Sather created this year as a focus....he learned as we all did while watching the Pens and their quick transition game. Although I can appreciate his experience and leadership abilities, it still remains a fact= he's too slow for the new focus this year.
