Stanley Cup Finals Game 6 Tonight....(Updated)

We'll be here watching and discussing Pens-Wings tonight----although after consulting with the editors, there's been a decision to change back to the approving-comments-before-publishing system on the message board for awhile.

So if you want to be part of the NHL and Rangers coverage here, be sensible (as the vast majority of you are) and avoid anonymous sexist and profane remarks and personal attacks. We'll move as fast as we can to keep the observations/conversation going.

(Big D: Your suggestion has been raised before, here and elsewhere, but for the moment the powers that be---Tribune---has preferred the current process. Perhaps when the new owner is in charge, that will change. Not sure.)

We believe this will be a worthwhile move through the summer, including for our reporting and remarks on the draft and free agency. Thanks again for reading and for keeping Blue Notes near the top of Newsday.com's coverage.

You know that your hard-working correspondent appreciates your passion and insights---someone said several other blogs are even including NHL/Rangers/Islanders items as well, I'll have to check---so that's indicative of the interest and pretty cool....

See ya tonight. Should be a close one.

If you remember, I had predicted the Wings to raise the Cup "by a whisker", although if it wasn't for Max Talbot, this was done in five.

Just have Newsday create a log-in and screen name process so that 'fake' posters can be avoided, and so that screen names who violate the board's policies can be booted completely.

Is Gonchar playing tonight?

A better question Sec 314......Is Malkin playing tonight?

The guy looks like Robbie Cano trying to hit a baseball right now.

Please Steve, for the love of God, do NOT start including fishstick (islander) info on this fine blog. This is RANGER COUNTRY! I implore you to keep it that way.

Big D, no way Tribune was spending the money to implement that sort of security. I would imagine Cablevision, who is willing to invest in everything that they own, would take that step. Let's hope so, otherwise the guy who keeps bringing up 9/11 and the Twin Towers will continue to post along with his other classless remarks.

Should be another classic tonight. As much as I can't stand the Pens, they deserve to get a Game 7 after the guts they showed on Monday. Looking forward to that as long as the Wings pull out the Game 7. I don't think any of us could live with BNG if the Pens come all the way back...LOL.

To Brian:

Should the unthinkable happen, I'd be too shocked to post anything more than a congrats to my beloved Pens team.

To Islander505:

Malkin had the assist on Talbots goal... since Therrien has moved him off the PP point, I think he's starting to find himself again.

I'd love to see at least one right handed shooter on the Pens PP.

Pens have a shot tonight, with the last line change and the home crowd.

If the Pens can keep the game within a goal going into the final period, they'll force a game seven.

Zip, I'm a little worried about these restrictions during ranger season. We like to talk and banter on this board...now it takes forever to get a comment up. thats going to seriously hinder the debates and conversations in october...

Now we can get back to talking hockey and I won't be ashamed to have posted here.

thanks for the recognition Zip

as much as I'd hate to admit it, I keep seeing the penguins hoisting the cup after a huge game 7 win in detroit

i can't see them losing tonight at home...but then again, i've been wrong plenty of times before

Wings 4-2 tonight just as they did in Dallas series winning on the road. Carry the Cup! The non descript superstar of them all Zetts becomes the first Euro captain to carry the CUP!

i hope sather was watching game 5 and noticed how talbot, the 4th liner, was out there when they pulled the goalie. let me say that again, a 4th line forward. could anyone see orr or hollweg out there? i didnt think so. the rangers simply cannot continue with their 4th line of poor defense, the occasional fight (which doesnt matter in the playoffs anyway), and absolutely no offense.

as for the game tonight...im hoping for another two amazing games, and after watching the 5 games so far, i do have to say, the pens are a really good competitive team and are putting up a better fight than i think the rangers would have (as much as it pains me to say)
