« Rangers advance in five | Main | Up and running.... »

The road ahead....

On a beautiful Saturday---weather-wise---here in the New York area (OK, overcast is some sections of New Jersey) should you be spending time indoors watching Philly-Washington?

Sorry, not me. I'll be checking the play-by-play online, but I'll be outdoors.

Same for Bruins-Montreal tonight.

If Canadiens and Flyers win, welcome to Pittsburgh. If not, more rest for the Rangers; stay tuned

Later...

I would like to remind everyone that this season's Devils were a terrible team with weaknesses everywhere. This team should not have even made the playoffs. They were even less dangerous than Thrashers last season, who at least had some offensive weapons and were even more physical. And the way that Rangers played will not get them by in the next round.

Thank you for your insight Bob, have a good saturday.
Withstanding that crap; LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(from previous thread)

"btw - not to dampen the excitement of the win but what was Backman doing in the corner on the when the Devils were scoring there first goal in front of the net?

This guy is horrible. I hope I am wrong but I am sure this guy is going to cost us a game at a crucial point."

DK,

he got drilled into the corner boards, you are completely blaming the wrong guy...it was BOB'S favorite player of all times fault, ryan hollweg. he kinda just said "here brian (gionta), heres a wide open slot so you can rip an uncontested shot over hanks shoulder, while i just skate in a dipsy doodle friggin circle and your welcome."...has there ever been a more useless player then ryan hollweg, i guess maybe travis zajac..he needs to sit ASAP.

so go ahead and blame backman, but then dont apologize to him when you see the replay

HUGE WIN!!!!!!! What a big team effort up and down the line. I could go on but it looks like most of you have hit on all the good points.

I am surprised I only saw one comment about Avery's post game interview with John Gianome (I think TJ mentioned it). But for those of you who didn't get to see the interview then you missed out big. I knew right away that Avery was going to let Marty and the Dev's have it for the way they treated him during the game and for Marty not shaking his hand. I will paraphrase a bit here but John Gianome asked him why they were so successful and how Avery kept from reacting to all the extra rough stuff aimed at him. His answer was that he basically ignored all that stuff because players like Clarkson are useless and just wish they could be like him (Avery). Gianome then asked him about Marty not shaking his hand and Avery was in his element. He called Marty "fatso" and said Marty brought all the contact on himself. He said Marty flopped around and dove instead of worrying about the puck. He then got an extra dig in by saying the Rangers and himself both outplayed Marty and Marty knows it. HE CALLED HIM A FATSO AND A DIVER!!!!!! PRICELESS!!!!!! Couple that with the dig he took at Clarkson and I think Avery just put a bounty on his own head for next season...but that's for next season, right now the Rangers are still in the playoffs and I couldn't be happier!!!!!! Who else saw Sutter's sour puss when he was "congratulating" Renney at the bench? Sutter looked like he just ate about 100 sour patch kids at once and looked like he wanted to be anywhere but where he was at that moment.

I am so proud of the whole team...the youth the vets etc. But I cannot believe Avery made it through that whole game without some kind of blow up. The devs were taking shots at him each and every shift, mostly all after the whistle like Clarkson dumping him after the goal.

I think if the Rangers play their style of hockey then we can definitely make the finals. The western teams have given us trouble for awhile so I can't say I think the cup is in our immediate future, but who knows??

LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!! I AM A RANGER!!!!!!!

Backman fans, who leads the Rangers in penalty minutes in the playoffs and is one of the 4 players with 0 points?

Backman+Jagr+Shanahan+Straka = 7 hits

Girardi+Staal+Dubinsky+Callahan = 70 hits

Why is it that some players think they don't have to throw hits and finish checks?

if you want a much better summary of Avery's comments then check out the Blueshirts bulletin. Dubi does a much better job then I did, including some Broduer comments that I wasn't aware of where he again calls out his defense as the problem. It can't possible have been MAAARRRTTTTYYYY's fault right? FATSO AND A POOR LOSER!!!!!!

Can someone please tell me after this series how anybody has the balls to criticize Jagr?

Bob, you are dumber than that guy in There's Something About Mary that continually says "did you see my baseball?"

Wouldn't be ironic if Avery signs with the Devils??/ LMAO!!

hey bob,

did you know that threw the years in the history of the NHL there have been players that score more then hit...

..and these players have succeded..lemme think of someone, oh i dont know..umm, aah..umm, oh WAYNE GRETZKY - last check he was a pretty good player. who in his 20+ years in the NHL threw about 50 body checks, and thats being generous.

i cant even think of any more players like him, oh wait..MARIO LEMIEUX - last check he used his "SKILLS" to dominate the leauge for his career.

culd there possbly be anymore players like this ever?..oh yea JAROMIR FRIGGIN JAGR!!..and much to your dismay fruitloop, he did throw a few this series, AND dominate offensively...

all this begs one question b00b...why do you continue to make a fool outta yoself?.

..or why do you have to play games w/ ranger fans on a hockey blog?..what are you tryin to accomplish?

..I..

Wait, we have 11 different goal scores and Bob wants to point out 1 of 4 players with out a point. Hey Bob add up the bench and subtract 4. how many point scores are there more little bobby?
14 in 4 games. Only bettered by the Pens by one. Were are the Islanders you love. Or is it the Devils. Did Fatso Marty let you down? Did you place all your little hopes in DP last season?

I heard that clueless mad mike milbury defended Brodeur for not shaking Avery's hand. What a surprise. How the hell is this guy allowed to be an analyst on NBC? Worst GM of all time, worst coach, and now worst TV announcer. Hat trick!

And this is the same clown who once climbed into the stands at the Garden to hit a fan over the head with a shoe. What a complete idiot. He takes shots at the Rangers every chance he gets. Why is he allowed to be on the air with that biased attitude?

"Wouldn't be ironic if Avery signs with the Devils??/ LMAO!!"

I am actually hoping they sign Jagr and Straka

bob,

how do you explain your favorite player, the "hit machine" ryan hollweg, losing his check on the1st devil goal last night?.. now i kno you cream ya pants everytime he hits someone, since thats the only stat you judge how good a player is..but after you see how god awful he was on the play, lemme know if you think he aint the most useless player in ranger history.

I guess you weren't paying attention, but I don't want Hollweg on the team because he does absolutely nothing besides hitting, which isn't even as great as it used to be.

ummmmm, but Bob, isn't it true that all you care about is hitting?

Jagr is second in the NHL in points for the playoffs, but you keep pointing out, every game, his hit totals because that's the only important thing.

I guess we are thinking that Hollweg would be a superstar in your warped little mind?

bob part of the reason the dirt devils lost is because they were trying to hit too much, and the refs were letting them get away with it. They forgot to play HOCKEY, and their goalie couldn't win just by cheating and not making saves on shots that he blamed his D for. Their coach is not only ugly but he's stupid. Must be one of your idols. Avery showed again why he should be resigned, and he's not a dirty or a cheating player, just an aggravating one who can actually play hockey.

DOn't usually watch too much of the other series, yet last night I watched Mont-Bost and was blessed with the best playoff game I have seen this season. The uptempo was outstnding and it was a wide open affair. GM 7 is going to be a doozy in this series!

LETS GO BRUINS!!!

agreed if the Bruins and the Flyers win we get home ice advantage and dont play the Penguins or Montreal (obviously)
