Good luck, Sean

Don't know exactly how it happened, but you all know by now that the Sean Avery cardiac arrest report was unfounded. Writers scrambled to get the accurate story shortly after we noticed that Avery wasn't on the ice at practice in Westchester. That was posted shortly afterward on newsday.com and elsewhere.

At this moment, Avery remains in St. Vincent's Hospital in stable condition for a lacerated spleen and will for at least a few days as doctors monitor for any more internal bleeding.

It's a tough blow for Avery; fans should hope his spleen doesn't have to be removed, because in doing so, a person becomes more vulnerable to infection, which could prove risky for a professional athlete, doctors say.

Hey, I've bristled at some of his comments and his penchant for refusing to speak after games and practices, but also enjoyed his shoot-from-the-hip quotes and inflated ego and dressing room by-play, which makes for fun copy and blog material.

And to be sure, he's contributed with goals and assists to knit together the string of wins at the end of last season and this one that resulted in the Rangers' playoff berths.

If Mr. Free Spirit signs with the Rangers next season---a contract that Glen Sather and Avery's agent, Pat Morris, still have to negotiate----we'll all expect more of the same.
If he doesn't, well, his personality will be missed--most days, anyway.

In the end, though, Blue Notes offers him best wishes, as some of the Penguins did today. Hope this setback doesn't affect his summer intership at Vogue or his career.

Yeah. Good luck getting a fair contract out of that A Hole Sather.

heard that his spleen doesnt have to be removed and that no surgery is required after listening to Renny and fox news's cover of the story

too bad the game was not at the Coliseum so Isles fans could have filpped over his ambulance a few dozen times. Human Garbage Avery went after DiPietro's head after his concussion last season and did not care for a minute if his career was ended as he hit him in the head and gave him a second one.

He tried to intentionally injure Crosby last night.
where are the Ranger hypocrites who rocked Lafontaine's ambulance who were crying when Lafontaine got his final concussion as a Ranger.

HA AND DEVILS FANS SAY HE IS "GUTLESS". GUESS THERE IS SOME TRUTH TO THAT NOW.

GET WELL SOON "HOLLYWOOD" SEAN - NYC bartenders assoc

AND TO RYAN - WHAT THE "HOLL"WEG WERE YOU DOING OUT THERE? I GUESS THE COACH SHOULD ANSWER THAT ONE. ALSO MAYBE PUTTING A STOP SIGN ON THE BACK OF OPPONENT'S JERSEY WOULD HELP LIKE THEY DO FOR PEEWEE KIDS.

I heard he spit at a nurse !

CNN reports that this may have been a gender change operation gone bad.

So how bad did the Daily News do on this story?
Unbelieveable!

resign Avery

I heard it was an eye injury after he was cutting his nails.

We will be shutting down our tanning and nail salon since our best customer will be gone for quite sometime. Hopefully our old best customer Dugguay will come back!

Sianora !

Sucking for eight years was bad but thinking and listening or reading about how good the Rangers are and then watching them lose in the second rd twice in eight years sucks even more imo.

Crap coach and not enough skill players to make a difference and that isn't going to be fixed overnight or in eight years for that matter. I have reached my low point with the present people in charge mainly Renney who can't get it done and I want the guy gone along with a bunch of the present cast. We won't get that we will get more of the same. One playoff round every year.

lenny doing your thing. the optimist..
nice the world is coming to an end..poor poor lenny.. the coaching expert and Mr. talent evaluator...

I don't like Avery and the great Don Cherry had some zingers about him on "Coach's Corner". But I do hope he makes a complete 100% recovery. Let's show some class to a fellow human being with some health problems.

Wahhh my season is ending sooner than I would like.
Waaahhhh the Rangers aren't everythign I think they should be.
Wahhhh I could do a better job with this team.
Wahhhhh I've never put on skates, but could do a better job than 1/2 the roster.
Wahhhh I need my baby bottle
Wahhh nothing ever goes my way
WAAAHHHHHHHHH I could find my way out of mommies basement.
WAHHHHH My dad is really my grandfather
WAAHHHHH My mommy isn't normal after 24 years locked in a basement.
WAHHHHH

Bob is a milksop.

It's funny to me how people try to insult Avery about

1. a sex change
2. his nails
3. tanning salon
4. any other gay cliche'

When the truth is this guy gets more ass from some of the hottest chicks in the country than any of you could ever dream of. Sounds like jealousy to me.

I just don't get some of the sentiment such as "this is the lowest point we can go?

How do we figure?

Unless there is a miracle, we are going to lose to a team with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and a team that severely mortgaged their future at the deadline by acquiring a rental that will most certainly leave at the deadline.

If we had traded, say Alexei Cherepanov, our #1 pick this year and Nigel Dawes for Marian Hossa, and then lost in the 2nd round, then I could see the pessimism.

But, if we could all just take a breath one second and stop jumping off a bridge, we are one game away from losing to a team that we aren't as good as.

We have the 2nd seasons of Brandon Dubinsky, Nigel Dawes, Ryan Callahan and Marc Staal to look forward to, as well as a bevy of young players like Korpikoski, Byers, Moore, Sanguinetti, Anismnov and Cherepanov waiting in the wings and a 26 year old goaltender who has been a Vezina finalist for his first 3 NHL seasons.

Calm down, take a breath, get down from that bridge you are about to jump off.

Dude
Don't try and stop them please. I want them to jump!

Those guys you mentioned are not 30 goal scorers by the way. You mention 2 tier players. The Rangers need to develop 1 teir players. Staal is a top player down the road. Dawes and Callahan are 3rd liners at best.

Nigel Dawes scored 14 goals in 61 games at age 23, a lot of those games were with very little ice time.

You mean to tell me you guarantee that Nigel Dawes will never score 30 goals in the NHL?

If you are really a Rangers fan, and you aren't excited about the futures of Ryan Callahan and Brandon Dubinsky, you have something seriously wrong with you.

Dude,

"Severely mortgaged their future"?

LMAO, Erik Christensen and Colby Armstrong and a way over-hyped minor leaguer who's biggest draw was that he's named Espo?

Pascal Dupuis is better than Armstrong. So we basically got Hossa for Christensen and Espo.

Wow, if you consider that ""Severely mortgaging the future", you really need to start following another sport like curling or something.

B & G,

just hope you win the Cup this year.

At least Christensen and Armstrong had contracts next season, at very low money BTW.

Have fun this summer with your 14 impending UFA's this summer and Malkin as a RFA after next season.

Very convenient to leave out the #1 pick in a very deep draft, oh yeah, and your 2nd round pick for Hal Gill too.

You better win the Cup, don't go choking

15 UFA is alot of talent that wants to test the market, instead of sitting in the shadow of Malkin and Crosby.
15 is alot. I think it might be the most by one team. No #1/#2 draft picks leaves a gap in high end potential talent from that farm system that likes to take off their cloths and run around in the streets.
Shittsburgs got a lot of money to spend in the off season. Will Mario spend the limit like Dolan or will he show his Wang greed and "save it"?
Will Hossa stay and Malkin go?

My top free agent target this summer is Brooks Orpik.

That guy is solid and i'd love to have him at MSG on our blueline.

Vincea....NEVER come on our blog again!

You people are on our blog 24/7 and what is happening to your blog now is JD, Jim From Woodbury, #1, Steve Sommer, etc. FAULT !!

"You reap what you sow!"

LENNYNYR: Wow! certainly sounds like you have had a rough life buddy.

Anyway - we don't expect our players to stop playing until the final buzzer sounds, so let's not give up before the final game has been played.

The future is bright for this team if management get's off it's a$$ and fixes the horrible defence. Staal is gonna be great. Tyutin and Girardi are are good but they are not a top defence pair. The rest of the current D can go rot somewhere.

Cut the cord on the over the hill gang already. Jagr, Sanny and Straka are not difference makers anymore. Thanx for the memories. Now get out!

The staff. Ugh! If we have to keep Renney, the least we can do is get assistants that know how to run a defence and a PP.

A PP quarterback and hard nosed depth on D are a must for next season. A true game breaking sniper (In his prime) is a must too.

Gomez, Drury, Avery, Dubbi, Cally, Dawes and Staal all were great this year. This team has a strong core of players and some good talent in Hartford. They just need the right staff and the right player additions to fine tune it. If Sather does the right thing this summer the Rangers can be TRUE cup contenders next year.

Love the Orpik idea Dude! That's the kind of D we need.

Here's hop'ing the Rangers win 4 in a row and put Cindy on the golf course where he belongs.

I don't know why we would question the fact that Sather is going to keep this team headed in the right direction youth wise.

We had 4 rookies score goals in the first round vs the Devils.

Scott Gomez is only 28 years old.

Sather hasn't traded youth for a vet since well before the lockout.

Sather didn't trade for a veteran at the deadline when everyone predicted he would. He certainly could have.

We are going to keep going in the right direction.

I'm not too keen on the FA market this summer, but I have seen the names of Malone and Orpick, along with Redden (OTT). Malone would be a nice fit, and both those two D mentioned would also be a nice fit.

As much as I respect his tenure and love his game, its time for Shanny to hang'em up. Hes reduced to the 4th line and has a hard time keeping up. He was a welcomed change in NY to help along the guys like Dubi, Cally and Dawes as well as providing leadership with Jags and crew.

With Stratka, I've never had a problem with him. Given him 2nd chances all year. But his time in NY has passed (no pun intended) too.

Re-sign Avery to 3 year deal / Resign Jags to 2 year, incentive laced deal.

See ya Hollweg - no explanation needed.

Same goes for Malik and Strudwick! If backman stays, see ya Mara. I dont mind Mara as a 6th /7th defenseman - he has a good physical presence yet little skating ability.

Now, for tonights game and rest of series. Its easy to throw in towel to a great team in PIT. But, I'm still confident in this team to not only win tonight, but make a run at the rest of the series. Gotta win tonight at home, re-group and head into the igloo, where we have lost twice but played well enough to win. Then, you are looking at playing at MSG again. Game 7 brings unexpectated fortunes.

I'm not ready to quit. I think this team can come back to make it a series and they got the firepower to do so. Question is, do they have the heart?

I agree for the most part Dude. I think he will do the right thing. I do think he blew it at the deadline though. If he REALLY wanted to go for the cup this year he could have gotten better than what he got without trading youth. Thats a dead horse now anyway.

Re-sign Avery!!!

If Sather had traded the youth at the deadline for a quick run, he would have gotten blasted.

What this team needed to really go for a legit run was a PP quarterback, once the Lightning re-signed Boyle, there wasn't anyone out there to be had.

I don't think the Sabres would have traded us Campbell and we really couldn't have done better than the #1 pick and Bernier deal they got anyway.

Dude,

Again you're totally clueless.

Dude wrote: "At least Christensen and Armstrong had contracts next season, at very low money BTW.

The Pens payroll for 2007-2008 is $41 Million. The salary cap next year is estimated to be about $54-56 Million. That's at least $13 Million in growth room.

We aren't like the Rangers where there's no cap room at all.

Secondly Dude wrote "Very convenient to leave out the #1 pick in a very deep draft"

It's going to be the 27th - 30th pick. Look at those picks the last couple of years. You won't recognize a single name.

Think man. Of course if you did that you wouldn't be a Rags fan.

ummm... B & G

"no cap room at all" what are you talking about?
we have plenty of cap room pal. I dont know where you get your info from.

we have about 28 million coming off the books this year.

lol B & G

ok, I will think about all of those UFA's being available to be signed by the highest bidder.

Just because the Penguins will have the cap room, doesn't necessarily mean the players will want to sign back in Pitt.

You have 14 UFA's this summer and Sykora, Gil, Sydor and Scuderi all are 1 year away from being UFA's.

No to mention both Malkin and Staal being one year away from being RFA's.

Just look at the contracts Hartnell got from Philly and Penner got from Anaheim last summer, then realize that's what it will take to keep Malone.

Just win the Cup, you should, don't go choking now!!

I am sorry, the contract Penner got from Edmonton to leave Anaheim I meant to say...

Dude,

I hear what you're saying, but you used bad examples.

"You have 14 UFA's this summer and Sykora, Gil, Sydor and Scuderi all are 1 year away from being UFA's"

the only one they would have any interest in signing after next year is Scuderi.

However, Malkin is GONE.

If I could only keep one of the stars (which is likely), then I would trade Sid for a BOATLOAD of picks to re-tool. Malkin is better. And less of a bitch

the point is that they virtually have no team besides Gonchar, Crosby, Whitney and Fleury signed for beyond next year

Dude,

You're right, Malone, born and raised in Pittsburgh, will want to leave a potential dynasty team and sign in that hockey hotbed called Nashville.

I'm not saying the Pens should re-sign all of the players, in fact I'd advocate letting a few go. But the core will remain in-tact.

Crosby-Malkin-Staal- Malone
Letang-Orpik
Fluerry

The rest will either be guys, who like Crosby, took a bit less than true market to stay in Pittsburgh and have a shot at the cup every year for the next five years, or free-agents like Sydor and Sykora were who wee at a point in their career where winning a cup meant more than the extra loose change.

Just ask your own Captain if he's like one last shot at the 'Cup.

Have fun watching the game tonight. I know I will!

B & G

if you don't think there will be more teams other than Nashville this summer will to give a young power forward like Malone 5 million a year you are crazy.

Old washed up Todd Bertuzzi got a 2 year deal for 8 million last summer.

Plus, have fun signing Malkin to a Ovechkin type contract after next year.

Don't go chokin, you guys should win the Cup, you are the best, no doubt!

Should be easy.

The Pens will be eaten alive by whoever comes out of the west. Have fun watching that B&G. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

remember last year when there were a million Buffalo fans on this blog gloating?

Remember how you never saw them again after they got ousted in the conference finals?

I wonder if B&G will be the same way...

hmmmm.................

You Rangers fans are showing hoe totally clueless you are.

Busey: "Malkin is gone"

Yeah right. We have Ray Shero as GM, not a bumbling fool like Sather.

We have Mario and Ron Burkle as owners... not some idiot wannabe rockstar who's inherited daddys money like Dolan.

B & G...

since you asked...

Mike Green # 29
Corey Perry # 28
Cam Ward # 25

gems come from everywhere in the draft, don't make stupid assumptions.

B&G

actually, the situation that the Pens are in after this season free agency wise has absolutely nothing to do with the Rangers no matter how you try and drag Dolan or Sather into your problems.

Don't go chokin!!

Busey: "Malkin is gone"

Yeah right. We have Ray Shero as GM, not a bumbling fool like Sather.

Oh ok,
Then have fun having your cap tied into 2 players.

I wasnt saying they didnt want to, I'm saying they probably cant.

hey, a few more slot machines, the Penguins should be able to sign anyone they want.

Busey, you go back to 2003 and the best you can come up with in the 27-30th pick is Corey Perry and Mike Green?

Yeah, both of those guys are better than Hossa.... rrriiiiiiiiiiiiight

Never said they were.....you said you wouldnt even know their names...

you were wrong.

just in case you forgot..

It's going to be the 27th - 30th pick. Look at those picks the last couple of years. You won't recognize a single name.

now get back on your bandwagon...

Good luck

Hossa isn't so great if you don't win the Cup and he signs somewhere else July 1st.

You guys should win it all though, should be easy

don't go chokin' now

are you making a chokin' ice chicken joke.
Don't go chokin' your ice chicken now!

B&G is wearing rose colored glasses, "Crosby will take a hometown discount" that is laughable, the bottom line is this team will have to choose between Crosby and Malkin. The reality is they will choose Crosby which is fine and Malkin will be wearing another uniform, the real laugh will be if it is a Ranger uniform. By the way most free agents would give anything to play in NY, not in Pitts. That so called meaningless original 6 seems to mean something during FA. And as to Malone it WILL take $$$ to keep him. This team has been built to win now or it will be finding itself in an up and down trend over the next 5 season. There are no more high draft picks to rebuild with immediately, that usually comes from your ability to lose. Now the team is winning and they will have a difficult time paying for all the young talent. No way to keep them all. SO, best wishes as the CUP better happen now, or you will be waiting quite awhile, don't threat though because Bettman is your biggest fan, have to do something to keep the franchise in Pitt and Mario happy. SO, one cup is the trade off and then you can go back to the middle and bottom of the pack which is where they have been for the last decade or so.Two big seasons and this may be your 3rd. Congrats on the legacy!

HEy msg....Pitt has won 4 times the amount of Rags in your meaningless lifetime. They have produced TEN TIMES the taalent that the Rags have.

Bow down to B & G .

Enjoy the DEMISE of your bottom of the pack franchise!
