Captain Clutch's biggest goal of the season nails the two points....Rangers have 93 with three to play.... Couldn't happen without Lundqvist, who excelled when Rangers looked gassed in the third.
Honorable Mention: Rozsival played a workhorse 27 minutes

My thoughts are that I just started breathing normally again about a half hour after Drury's games winner,,,
The lack of scoring touch is really frustrating. I know that defense is the name of the game in the playoffs (knock on wood), but it's difficult to trust the blueline with winning games.
If they trust the blueline so much, why do they have 5 forwards out there for a 5 on 3 ?
Dawes looked damn good. So did Prucha, and well, most of the others.
Dawes needs more PP time. Yeah def breathing a little easier and smiling. Almost there.
Great finish tonight, but I continue to wonder why Renney has abandoned the line combinations that seem to have had the most production and chemistry this season. Since Gomez has returned, he could have gone back to Callahan-Drury-Straka, Shanahan-Gomez-Dawes, and Avery-Dubi-Jagr. I'm no Renney critic, but why shake things up right before the end of the regular season?? Granted there have been some tough bounces and solid goaltending, but the "first line" has been a bit quiet lately, among others..Avery and Straka both seem a lot more effective in their old spots too.
Good game, I thought Prucha did pretty well he was fun to watch there in the second period when he was playing keep away against 3 pens in the corner. Rozsival did a nice job staying with Crosby there late in the third.
If I had to choose, I'd take the 4th spot, home ice advantage playing the Devils, 1st round.
I think either the Hurricanes or definitely the Caps are scarier than the Devils right now.
I want that 4 spot.
Go Islanders tomorrow.
Go Habs tomorrow.
Islanders are dead last in NHL in scoring and are without Rich Dipshietro, so it will take a miracle for them to win twice against the Rangers. So looks like we make the playoffs, so now hopefully we win the Cup and then Renney passes away before next season begins and we finally have a good coach and entertaining hockey for many years to come.
i hate the world. i act like a ranger fan and thrive off the world's misery. deep in my soul i yearn to see the rangers lose. i was heartbroken when drury scored in overtime off a JAGR assist. it makes me sad when others are happy. i will sit in a corner and cry now. DOWN WITH THE RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Bob, if Renney coached the Rangers to the cup, why would you want him to pass away and have someone who didn't just coach you to the cup come in, and by the way thats a real shitty thing to say no matter if it's a joke or not but i wouldn't expect even a bit of class out of you.
"bob, you are a moron (please don't be offended)"
coming from you, I take it as a complement.

if Rangers win a Cup, it is not thanks to shitty coaching of Renney. I don't care if I am not classy, but as a real fan I want my team to have as much success as possible and Renney is in the way of that.
I thought Callahan played great tonight. best I've ever seen him.
Dawes and Callahan, best two players on the ice, and that includes the Penguins superstats.
The Rangers cannot afford to underestimate the Islanders, they are may be down and out and but they WILL play us hard. I
Wolfpack have won 7 in a row, David LeNeveu has a 1.77 GAA as a Pack.
Lauri Korpikoski has been on fire for the Pack lately.
21 goals now
I want to get to a Pack game and see Sanguinetti and some of the others before the season's over. They're on a good run.
I still think Drury's biggest goal of the year was the goal against Edmonton with under 6 seconds left, but this is what he was signed for. He is huge when it counts.

if only you guys understood hockey as well as i do. actually, the rangers offered me the head coaching job but i declined because id rather sit in a corner and whine about my "favorite team" not succeeding in the proper manner. renney and i took a hockey iq test and i beat him by like a solid 5000 points so all of you, including jagr, straka and that fake king of clutchness drury should bow down to my infinite hockey knowledge. i could coach a team of pee wee's to the stanley cup AND beat that deep blue computer at chess AT THE SAME TIME.

I love doing Dude in the rear and love the Islanders more than you !
I could care less if we win as long as I can type all day of the Islanders board
where are the Doomsdayers today? Why not fill the blog with your old man tag team rants now? Did you toolboxes flush your systems out yesterday?
Didn't have the energy last night after the game to keep up your love to hate, call to arms for the head position of bench boss. Have you mega nerds applied for the position yet?
Win the cup and then hope he dies? That's a pretty sick way of thinking. Gee, I wouldn't love to hang out with you guys for a day. Maybe two!
The Rangers defense is realyy becoming a force to deal with and bodes well for the playoffs. Pens got a point on an offside play that tied the game. Amazing that no official saw it and even more amazing that no one on the broadcast felt it was close enough to bring up. Maybe that's why they chose to show replays that already had the puck in the zone. There were finally a couple of replays that showed how far offside this play was, and I must say it wasnt close. Fortunately it didn't cost the Rangers. As to the anti-Renney rants as I said yesterday get used to him, as he is not going anywhere and by all appearances he has the buy in of all the players who are staying well disciplined in the system. The system is alos consistenly played in Hartford so there is always a seamless transition for any players that are called up. As much as I wish the Rangers opened up occassionally, the results of this system cannot be denied. The Rangers will enter the playoffs as one of the best defensive teams in the East and maybe 4th in the league. The only chance they have of beating a western opponent is this type of style and if they continue to blanket teams as they did these last two against Pens they can go very far in the playoffs. People like Bob just don't seem to understand the game. Maybe he would rather have the Rangers be high flying an out of the playoffs.
Bob,
In regards to your Betts comment. You are a moron.
That 14 minutes you are talking about is supposed to be filled by lower line PK players so that your 1st line people aren't out there getting exhausted killing penalties. (Drury, Gomez, Straka)
so when a key PK guy gets hurt it effects the whole team.
If you knew anything about matchups and gamesmanship then you would know that.
Regards,
Busey

I can see all the JO's are out tonight.
Very good game, Cally,Dawes and Pru were flying out there. Hank was Hank when he needed to be as was Drury he is something always there in the clutch. Our defense played the pens great. The only bad move was rosi stick checking again and maloney went around him and made the pass and they scored. Rosy play the body! Well he did play crosby with the body and he took him out, see Rosy play the body. I hope everyone noticed what a hard hitting defensemen does for a team when orpick was nailing everyone, thats why I say we need at least one of that type. Overall very exciting and satisfying to get the 2 points. Asslanders next!
drury is over rated and over paid . any body can fill the role of a 3rd line center for less money
I only saw bits and pieces of the game, but I continue to believe that Sidney "Crybaby P*ssy" Crosby should be levelled at every opportunity.
During the last minute of regulation, the Rangers were offsides coming into the Pittsburgh zone. The whistle blew, and Crosby laid an elbow to the head of the Ranger skating in with the puck (as I missed most of the game, I also didn't catch the Ranger). Why was there no Elbowing or Roughing penalty called. I can understand the Rangers not overreacting to end up in the penalty box, but this is the kind of crap that Crosby does and gets away with on a nightly basis.
If anybody coughs near him, Crosby flops like a soccer player. This little crybaby needs to be taught a lesson.
Drury is as clutch as they come. Stupid icelander troll.
I was at the game last night and I noticed...
1. The Rangers held the Pens to one shot in the first period. One. Lousy. Shot. This with the savior of all hockey in the starting line-up. Someone's heading for an early playoff exit.
2. It seemed that at every break in the action, one of the Penguins, especially the SAOH, was standing next to the ref and whining like a hoard of mosquitos.
3. Someone needs to talk to Jaromir Jagr. Anyone. Tell him that when he puts the puck on net, things happen. One extremely silly goal and one rebound goal were the result tonight. Stop trying to find the perfect half-inch of space, Jags, and just shoot the damn thing.
4. Abovementioned SAOH has been spending some time at the Greg Louganis school of diving. He's almost got that backflip down pat.
5. Lest you think I'm a complete homer, I would gladly take Evgeni Malkin and Sergei Gonchar in a starting five. I wouldn't mind having Malone wreaking havoc along with Avery either.
6. This Ranger team has stopped folding when something goes wrong, and they get back to work. That's a good sign. For next season, they need to create a few LESS three point games and finish off teams in regulation.
