I finally figured out what I hate about Malik... now I have never been one to jump on the bandwagon and bash and whatnot, not that I;ve ever been a particular fan of his... but when he took the penalty that led to the tying goal by montreal, they showed a shot of Malik in the box, and he didn't look at all upset with himself, didn't look like he had ANY recognition whatsoever of what the potential consequences of that penalty were, and that was it, at that moment, I went from being someone who (while recognizing that he was basically a horrible player) didn't really go out of my way to hate the guy, to someone who, like most of the rest of the Rangers community, absolutely despises the guy

Now i know why i hate renney, actually i always have, the score is tied and its like we didnt just give up a 5 goal game.

Lundqvist, Rangers and Renney stink. Can't believe we are paying this goalie almost 7 million.

Just when they convince me they might be putting it together they fall the hell apart. Boy I am glad renney stresses defense!!!!!! How the hell do you lose after going up 5-0. Do you think the defense ever heard of moving peop[le out from in front of the e-ffing goalie. Why did renney use drury and a hole jagr in the shootout and why do they insist on deking shoot the dam puck. Jar hasn't scored a goal in 10 games he can't hit the net and this moron uses him in a shootout. Yes he is a genius. NOT!!!!!!!!!

vincea with a loss like this it was the whole team, and who is the first leader on the team thats renney. he doesnt really care he plays this stupid willie randolph type ill stay calm everythings ok bs atttidude and it doesnt work. ive hated renney this whole yr and ive hated radolph the last 2 yrs. i havent hated renney until this yr for 2 reasons one i graduated from college last yr so i wasnt home to watch all of the games and 2 there hasnt been this much pressure for him to win so losses didnt make much a difference to me as much as they do this yr. renney r u alive, do u care?

i really hope i run into renney soon so i can give him piece of my mind!

I truly can't remember a time I've been more embarrassed to be a fan of this team. It's amazing that they can play so hard, and have so much heart for half a game, and then just give it away like it was nothing. Like the points they so desperately need grow on trees.

Unlike Blackburn, Lundqvist is very weak mentally--once he lets in a bad goal or loses his precious shutout or gets a goal deflected off his teammate he has a mental meltdown and starts to suck.

the rangers achieved 7 of 8 points this yr against Montreal the problem is how they play against the kings and other has beens of hockey.

The problem is that they blew a 5 goal lead, Stuart. I know getting 7 of 8 is good but it should have been 8 of 8 when you're up 5-0.

rucchin no argument here.. of course they blew the game, that is obvious... they also blew the game they lost to tampa at home, phx a home, carolina after the break etc.. they have left many points on the table and therefore each game going forward is pivitol..

if at 6:30 tonight I told you the rangers would lose in OT tonight and get 1 point you would say that is OK..

this loss will sting the players and it should and hopefully they will learn from this disaser, there is nothing else you can do.

grr, can any of you give mtl credit...they have the most pts in the east. last check theyre a decent team.i agree this is a devastating loss. they played scared and thats the SCARY part. hope this dosent set them back..its good buffalo isnt till saturday. they need a few days after this.jagr needs a new batch of sticks...or better yet a new CITY!!...good riddence mario jr at seasons end!!

Yeah, no reason to complain. We got a point guys. We should be pleased. So what if this was the greatest comeback in the HISTORY of the Canadiens franchise and the worst loss in the HISTORY of the Rangers franchise. Two original six teams, mind you. So what if once again the King folded as the team around him was begging for one big save to halt the momentum. He's a great goalie, no doubt, but the higheset paid goalie in the NHL? You think Martin Brodeur or Roberto Luongo would allow their team to blow a 5-0 lead?

11Messier11, begging for him to make 1 big save? I've never seen 30 minutes dominated so throughly by a team in the NHL then the last half of this game. He made a ton of big saves, HE GOT ZERO HELP. I would put the last one on him, but what else could the guy do? The team just stopped skating, they barely were able to get the puck out of the defensive zone, much less mount any offense. How is that the goalies fault? That was an utter disgrace and collapse as a team.

Ranger D-Men are the reason we will not go far in playoffs.......soft and do not like or want to take a hit. Never dreamed I would say this but we missed Orr last nite. Perhaps Staal will be the big banger we need when his body fills in- we sorely lack a BIG defenseman.

One thing I don't understand, when teams get a big lead, why change the way they are playing? Keep attacking! No lead is safe, obviously. Don't sit back and let the other team get back in it, continue to play the same attacking style and put the hammer down. A better coach would have been all over them when it was 5-2. Just don't understand it.

I love people that write under the name anonymous and call out people like myself, bob, vincea, and jeff. So I MATT with a name will respond to said anonymous, renney is a terrible coach and i think ted nolan is a much better coach. You cant argue that the rangers have more talent than the islanders, but they have a similar record. At 5-2 or 5-3 we needed some fights to stop the momentum. Should have attacked koivu and kovalev, gotten physical, roughed up their prissy forwards, but nothin to stem the tide. Terrible, and changes have to be made. If this mix of personalities and players was ok, there would not be these games and inconsistent stretches, albeit a nice little winning streak before montreal. This is a weird group.

Looking back, putting Strudwick on the 4th line was a bad idea. Honestly, I dont know why Renney continues to play him.

Montreal sure played great at the end. Rangers stood and watched. Terrible display by the Montreal fans. Every time a Montreal player went down, they were screaming for a penalty. The officials seemed to call a crappy game, but it seems thats the norm in the NHL.

Lots of culprits last night starting with the coach.

I have been calling for his firing ever since the late collapse two years ago. He cannot react to game situations. Why was Betts out there for that final faceoff? When the 4th line was out there for the 1st Montreal goal, why did he put them out there against the same line for the 2nd goal. His choices for the shootout were awful. He (Renney) was the biggest culprit out there. After getting fired in Vancouver, Sather should have passed on him but Sather's ego wouldn't allow him to hire a coach he couldn't control so Sather's name definitely on the culprit's list.

Malik and Rozival - Two biggest pvssies on the team. Let them both walk after this season.

Jagr - His 4 assists not withstanding, can't get off a quick hard accurate shot any more. Had a beautiful chance and couldn't put it home. Loses the puck much too often and when he does, doesn't cover defensively.

Staal gets a pass, still weak from the after effects of the flu and looked it out there.

Lundqvist - made some nice saves but if he would have just stopped one of those 5 goals, the Rangers would have won. At least one, the 3rd goal, was definitely stoppable. An elite goalie, which he is getting paid as, gets two points for his team when they deserve to lose and HL hasn't done that in quite a while.

It would have been 10-5 Montreal if it were'nt for Lundquist. Renney needs to go, period! How much more proof does Sather need. God forbid we get rid of Malik, Roszival, Mara, Strudwick, Hollweg, Jagr, Straka or Shanny. They're all useless. This kind of collapse does'nt happen with a good coach and a compitent captain. The whole organization is CLUELESS!!!!!!!!!!!

the rangers have played there best hockey of the season over the last 3 weeks or so. 8-3-2 over that span isnt terrible. points in 5 straight isnt terrible. there ahead of last years pace as far as points go. if you ppl dont realize they have turned the corner, then your clueless. even last night im damn sure when they were up 5-0 like me you all were thinking damn this team is friggin awesome!!buffalo will not know what hit them on saturday, i cant wait for that one.

the 2 probloms that need improvement are jagr and lundquist. jagr cant score in an open soccer net and hank cant stop a soccer ball in a hockey net. if we get those two straightened out, LOOK OUT!!!!

great point on the mtl fans. a mtl player gets "body checked" they boo for 5 minutes. meanwhile komisarek attempts to take mara's head off with a hockey stick, they cheer. by the way, what exactly did komisarek do last night that helped them win the game?  up there (according to tsn) last night proved he was the next coming of chris pronger. all i saw was him taking penalties all night. how does this help u win the game and to think montreal fans are so knowledgeable. maybe there talkin to vin and kocur.

Last night was the culmination of all that is wrong with this team. Bad GM, bad coach, incomplete roster, no leadership and a horrific defencive corps. No accountability all the way through the organization. No matter how bad they play theres no firing, no trades, no benching's, no anything. The GM, the coaches and the players should be ashamed. All the people who refuse to see the truth and blow this teams horn no matter how bad it gets, should be embarrassed.
It's funny, last night when I was in shock about the 5-0 lead I thought to myself "How are they going to blow this one". Renney always finds a way. Well, he found it. Over play your least talented line and continue to play Malik in important situations. The fact that Malik and Betts were out there with one minute to go in a tie game is undefendable. The moves they tried in the shootout were a joke too.

as far as the 4th line issue goes. all teams need a 4th line, he may overuse them a tad i agree. hossa needs to replace hollweg ASAP!  then it has balence in all 3 phases.

tj if u noticed that the candiens did have 8 defenseman i believe in the game, while we had 7 cause struds played forward and in the third period our d looked slow so maybe renney should have not used struds at forward and used 7 d. Those r the adjustments we r talking about.

I love how people are more interested in what other people say about the team than the team it self. God forbid someone have an OPINION on this team. Why can't people just post an opinion and leave it at that. Every time I post I get attacked by people who have nothing intelligent to say about the team. There is more outrage over not being positive at all times, than there is about the Rangers poor play. This blog has become a joke. I'm never happy cause the team is a train wreck and no one is doing anything to fix it. If you don't agree, why not post a rebuttal or just not say anything at all. Too many children hidding behind their keyboard I guess. Now let's see how many intelligent, adult responces I get to this.

excuse me for having faith in my team like a "TRUE" fan does. you should entertain that idea sometime. they have 8 of 10 points in the 5 games. the idea is to get in the playoffs, points gained are the objective.

lundqvist is terrible. Valiquete should be playing the majority of the games. He should have been taking out after he gave up that 3rd goal.
