Some of what you missed earlier....
"I think New Jersey tomorrow night and in Montreal on Sunday lends itself to Henrik, and Steve has played well in here (38 saves in his Rangers debut, a 3-1 win on March 27, 2004), the one time he was here with us anyway," said Tom Renney. "He's looked good when he's played, so there's zero concerns about that. He's big guy and he takes up a lot of the net, and Philadelphia's a physical team."
"Yeah, I played here in the season before the lockout, different team now," Valiquette said while taping his sticks.

The line combinations "are something to look at; whether we go with that, we'll wait and see. It is like coming home to a certain degree...... One thing you're looking for too is consistency and familiarity, but our players know what is required, regardless of the competition." Personally, I think Straka with Jags, not Avery, makes sense.

Asked about the Flyers' Dan Briere and Chris Drury, former Sabres who are trying to adjust, Renney said:
"I don't think that's unusual, Finding their way in any new system outside of where they've been for a good number of years is difficult for anybody. The one thing that I like and it's probably the same with Danny, is that Chris has been consistent with his approach to the game day in and day out, very professional, completely committed to how we want to play and
what we try to do. So because of that and because of his history, it's only a matter of time. Obviously, time is of the essence for us. But in a quiet sort of way, as he's trying to get his footing, he's still having a good year. The points may not indicate as such, but he's played pretty well for us."

When I asked if he was comfortable carrying just 12 healthy forwards, Renney's response was: "Yeah, we'll see what happens beyond tonight. Struds could swing back up front." IMO, seems like something has to give.

As for what might be lacking in Mara's play, Renney said: "Just general firmness. As a group I find that our defensemen right now are not getting the separation when they go to get
pucks and retrievals. You've got to be on your toes and gotta be taking inventories as you do that. Paul's a big strong guy who can get to places well, so just a reminder to him that's what we need, not only from him, but our group in general. And we've got to get Harry in. "
From this point of view, and probably the team's, if Malik is to be moved, he needs to play. Strudwick over Mara tonight may be a concession that the game will be rough.

can someone explain to me why they call malik, 'harry'?
they should call up Callahan and Moore and say bye to Hossa enough..
Rachel, from the tv show "harry and the hendersons"
renney is a terrible coach giving the reason why mara shouldnt play but allowing malik to play who does what renneys says mara does but worse. i understand u need to showcase him but his showcasing is gonna cost us wins. how do u play a guy (mara) on the pp then strach him other games the reason why our pp doesnt score is the same reason why we dont score in general the lines have no consistancy.
i really loathe renney
Malik has to play. Period. No one will trade for a guy, scratch that, no one will give up anything decent if they don't see the guy play. So you have to scratch a Dman. Sure it could be Struds, but this is a physical team. Struds will help around the net more than Mara would.
I see the reasoning.
Yes, we need the wins, no doubt, but we're running out of time to the deadline.
11 games before the deadline... 3 in 4 nights.
we need 42 points to hit the 96 mark. Umm, can it be done?
It can be done but it won't. Not with all the line juggling going on. It never stops. Not even when the lines work. CLUELESS!!!!!
The last 11 games or so of the season are ALL against division rivals.. so it's doable, but you gotta hope that anyone in our way (Isles, Pittsburgh are the closest) don't make it further.

Looking for a place to watch the game tonight? Check out Bar-Coastal, 1495 1st Ave. Ticket give away for Tuesdays game against the Kings along with other give aways and beer deals, presented my Molson.
So if tonight is going to be rough why is Malik playing? Does this make sense? How Clueless is Renney? If the D men stink bring someone up you idiot. Potter, Taylor or Sauer. Other teams bring players up.
Love it that Sather refuses to talk to the media. I always saw Tannenbaum on SNY talking through this terrible Jet season. Tannenbaum never was afraid to talk to the media. Omar always spoke and so did Cashman. Sather are you better than them? Get some balls and take the cigar out of your mouth.
Dost my eyes decieve me? Is there some business soliciting their bar here on a hockey blog? That's a way to lose business next time I'm in the city moron. I'm going to be sure to avoid your place
