« Flu could affect lineup against Caps | Main | No boos for Tom Poti... »

Avery won't return tonight

Live from the morning tune-up:

Sean Avery skated, but coach Tom Renney decided to have him get some more contact tomorrow. So Saturday's a possibility.

That means Jason Strudwick will be back upfront on the fourth line.

Ryan Hollweg and Marcel Hossa, each with varying degrees of the flu, skated and will play....

More to come from MSG later...

Why can't they bring up one of the kids instead of letting slow foot strudwick lumber around the ice....just doesn't figure

Matt, Strudwick has done an ok job on that line. It’s not like he’s give up a goal from that position?

In response to Matt,
Strudwick is a slow footed player but he is a responsible player, you knows his role on the team and will provide the team with a solid 10 minutes per game. Rangers have all their youngsters up right now. They have 2-3 good Russian players in the minors but they are nowhere near ready. It is going to be a tough stretch off games until Avery and Straka come back.

What difference does it really make who plays on the fourth line? They probably won't get more than 5 minutes ice time anyway.

I think playing Strudwick on the 4th line is actually a good thing... a kid gets more PT and better game situation minutes in Hartford than they would if they were recalled... Strudwick gets some playing time and keeps in game shape should the team ever need him to jump into the lineup, and if something should happen to a dman during a game, Strudwick can drop back and play D rather than rotating 5 guys for the rest of the game. If it was anything more than the 4th line, I would have an issue with it but I think in this case it is not a bad move

I got no problem with Strudwick playing still.

Seen Scatchard was released today. Some of you will be very happy...lol

Get a W tonight boys!

Lets Go Rangers!

Bring back Nylander!

Any chance of getting Zubov back?

Mr-Rangers-Tickets is right. This is EXACTLY why Strud is in the lineup. Maybe he isn't a star but is very unlikely to make a mistake at critical times and can drop back and cover the D. On top of that, if you asked any one of the players which guys they want to see on the bench, the first three names that would probably come up...Hank, Shanny, and Strud. I'm going to get flamed for this but let me explain. Hank is obvious as to why. Shanny, and Strud are the type of players that are known to do ANYTHING for their team. They would lay down in front of a train if it meant getting the win or protecting another player. Those are the types of guys players like seeing on the bench more than any other.

By bench, I mean in the lineup. Not riding the pine.

The Icelander troll imposter is back. Ignore him guys.

What is an Islander?
