The Rangers have re-signed restricted free agent Marcel Hossa to a one-year, $780,000 contract, avoiding an arbitration hearing scheduled for Thursday.
Hossa, 25, earned $600,000 last season. The left wing, who earned a spot on the first line by playing tough, two-way hockey as the season progressed, had only 10 goals and eight assists during the season. But he registered eight goals and five assists in the last 15 games.
No word yet from the arbitrator in the Sean Avery hearing....

Avery should be cut
Yeah the Icelanders can't draw flies to the mausoleum and who can't get any and I mean any media attention ''dominate NYC''
Plus People care more about the LIberty then they do the Islanders. THey are a joke. Hows Ryan Smyth doing? Oh and Roberto Luongo and Eric Brewer and Wade Redden and Bertuzzi. Should I go on!!
is this an Islander blog? C'mon folks.
no one cares about a pathetic organization that signs people that try to kill others on the ice... pathetic! but this is a rangers blog, i like the hossa signing.
does anyone know howmuch cap room we have left? if we have 6 mil, do we go after jovo in a trade or wade redden?
Wow, you guys bite on any trolls that hit your blog. No wonder you can't get rid of the imposter. LOL
tim - no more big money contracts to outsiders. it's already cost us Cullen and lots of goodwill at the least with Avery. and more to come next yr (Tyutin - Rozy for starters). We can't have another $ 6 mm man other than the King. Or they'd be filling the rest of the roster with you and I and I can't skate.
LI JOE- I disagree we need a big time defenseman if we are going to win a cup. We have almost 9 million dollars between Mara,Malik and Kasper coming off the cap at the end of this year. Fedor T is cheap still, So is Pock Staal and Giradi. We can afford it.
Sean Avery has been awarded a 3-year contract for free psychological counseling.
