Avery is a rat

Sather is not smart for making those comments about Avery. He is a catalyst and very important to the NYRangers this season.

Sather is very smart for saying anything that makes the $$ less rich to sign a player. And, Avery is an idiot. Just like you.

Its time to step up and sign Pete Boxes. His Monday Night preparations have paid off big time. I'd expect the dutiful preparations to warrant a top rate signing in the near future. Make the preparations for Monday Night.

Anyway, Sather is using a tactic but Avery is critical to our team's success this season.

Avery is making himself a smaller portion of this team. We're pretending that Sather and Avery never spoke on the matter of salery. We aren't talking about why Sather thinks Avery should get 1.6 vs. 2.6 million a yr. As if Sather didn't explain to him at some point that his role is limited if he can't keep his act together, put up bigger points and always play as a teammate. All these things we've heard Sather say before about other players. Avery is looking at a very real opportunity to play for a team that is going to get him a big pay day next yr. 29 games, 20 points and the fan fair are large portions to a team that wasn't going to make the playoffs. Wouldn't Avery be better off finding a home, a long term home for his future in a town that seems to love him by playing down is attitude, instead of building negative press during the off season. Is he being greedy, or is he picking the wrong moment to worry about himself? OR maybe the papers are full of it and none of this is happening the way they say it is. Papers don't lie, do they?

If Avery is going to be a pain in the butt, than he'll find himself in Florida or Pheonix or Columbus without very much of a chance to show the world what his agent seems to see in him. What Sather and Renny saw last yr. But that was last yr, wasn't it.

Avery isn't getting any bad press. I think 90% of Ranger fans would be against Sather on this one. You took a guy who was a virtual lock to sign this year and went to arbitration with him, and them ripped him to shreds on top of it? Just doesn't make sense.

the only positive here, no matter what comes of this, is that Avery is extra motivated to play harder and hopefully smarter than ever this season!

count me as part of the 90% that's disappointed. you're right, he'll be motivated to play harder and smarter this season - so he can get a big UFA contract from some other team next summer.

I hope your right Brian. I'd like to see Avery bury that record 48 points and be able to see his big money in NY next yr. But will he keep his head on straight long enough to get the payout?

why all the fuss about Avery? He had 2 good months in his career and we want to break the bank on him. If he leaves who cares let him leave. We have plenty of kids waiting to take his spot. Bottom line is he will be more of a headache in the long run then he will be positive. Shanahan won t be here forever to control him.

it's unfortunate, sather is very smug and arrogant. this team has made POSITIVE strides and all of them seem to like playing together and genuinely like each other. this can cause a bigger headache. it is dumb on sathers part, avery deserved a one year deal at about 2 mil with the understanding to prove himself. and speaking of Jovo, do we really want to keep adding salary to this team and changing the chemistry. hockey is chemistry, we dont like all of our players but we have to live with it and hope to win it all. we have an elite goalie, we have a few kids on the rise and in the minors ready to roll. the comments about avery are uncalled for and unprofessional.
