We knew, NHL agrees

Henrik Lundqvist has saved the Rangers' bacon for six weeks, not just last week.

But the NHL today officially recognized the King's rule last week by naming him the league's first star of the week ending March 11.

Lundqvist was 3-0-1 in four games with a 1.43 goals-against-average and .948 save percentage, including the back to backs over the Islanders. Of course, he's been 8-2-4 in his last 14 games, posting a 1.65 GAA and a .935 SP.

And in shootouts, well, can you feel more comfortable with anybody else?

In other news, the club announced that C Tom Pyatt---having a sensational year in the OHL---signed a pro contract. Pyatt, 20, is 42-38-80 and plus-32 in 56 games with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League. He was part of Team Canada's gold-medal junior squad (1-3 in four games) and a OHL All-Star. Pyatt, (6-0, 190) has nine game-winners and six shorties this season. Flash in the pan? Nah, he was the OHL Western Conference MVP last season.

More later....

Why did Pyatt sign here? doesn't he see that prospects don't get a fair chance here? A prospect of his profile should have held out to be with an organization that has a clue.

Finally Lundqvist gets some recognition its about time. Aside from a rough month or so where the team collapsed around him hes been unreal. Its a sin what the Rangers are putting him through.

My guess at the rest of the prospects that have to be signed:

Dupont--sign
Roche--let go
Reese--not sure, but I doubt he will sign here
Olver--not sure, probably sign as a favor to his coach and father
Sauer--sign
Koverko--not sure
Russell--sign
Hunter--not sign
Flatt--not sign
Seymore--not sign

Kozak, Falardeau, Pock, Taylor, Lampman, Pikkarainen, Degon, Isbister, Helminen, Purinton, and Richter will be gone soon to make roster space for new prospects.

Steve/Mike-
Anything about Tyutin's condition? Is it realistic to think he'll be back the week of March 25?

Also, according to Larry Brooks' column in the NY Post, Shanahan skated for a half hour at the practice facility yesterday. But no word on whether he'll be back this year.

In seeing some recent photos of James Dolan I think he is Bobby Granger...any one else see the resemblence?

Thats good I will have to check the pictures out and see for myself.

Thats what this team needs. A true fan like Granger to hit the Mega Millions big time and take over.
