Straka set to go...

Martin Straka, who suffered a hyper-extended right knee last Saturday against the Bruins, has recovered enough to play tomorrow in Boston. He skated today with former linemates Jaromir Jagr and Michael Nylander, and coach Tom Renney said Brad Isbister will likely be a healthy scratch for the matinee.

Also, it appears that Kevin Weekes (quad) is not totally ready to return and Stephen Vaiquette will continue to back up Henrik Lundqvist for the two weekend games, coach Tom Renney said. All three goaltenders practiced.

The other lines remain the same;

Shanahan-Avery-Callahan
Ortmeyer-Cullen-Prucha
Hollweg-Betts-Orr

Some quotes and more later....

hollweg-nylander-jagr
callahan-avery-shanahan
straka-cullen-prucha
ortmeyer-betts-orr

Bill--
Hollweg is a marginal player, a body willing to play bumper cars and muck things up. He's great at what he does on the 4th line, but would never be good with Jags and Nylander. What they might gain with his intensity and hitting to the top line would not be enough compared to what he takes away in offensive talent. he is an offensive liability.

68 and 92 need to have someone with offensive talent. Hossa, Straka, Avery, or Callahan would be much better choices. With Hossa out the Rangers should keep the Shamrock line together, so Straka is back with Jags and Nylander.

I never understood why they drop the gloves to fight in hockey, while in boxing they wear gloves. I think they should fight with their gloves on, then the fughts would be less hazardous and more fun because of less clutching and grabbing.

Good point about dropping the gloves. Someone was on XM radio last night (could've been Colin Campbell, but I could be wrong) and he said he was afraid someone was going to die one day in a hockey fight.

Do I agree? Probably not.

But it's a scary thought, especially with all that's been going on in the past few months. Petrovicky knocked someone cold in a fight a few weeks ago. Orr knocks out Fedoruk. Jon Sim broke his cheek bone.

Fighting will never be outlawed, but fighting with gloves on isn't a far stretch.
