Greetings from the Naples Public Library.
Returning some borrowed books and decided to report in....
On the roster front, it appears that Jed Ortmeyer is going to Hartford on a 14-day conditioning assignment, and that defenseman Bryce Lampman is travelling to Ottawa with the team. No big surprises here.
For those who asked about Guerin, he's a UFA at year's end, and he might provide the scoring (16-15-31) that Petr Sykora gave the Rangers at in the final two months of last season. Several teams will want him though, and the price will be high.
And for the record, while I wouldn't mind seeing one more Wolf Pack player here, from what I've heard, only Dawes and maybe Dubinsky are close to NHL ready. Not sure about Callahan. Personally, I have not seen Baranka or Girardi play in Hartford this year.
With the recent scratches and the third-period benching against the Islanders, perhaps we are seeing the end of Hossa's tenure---he hasn't really consistently lifted the level of his game despite all the ice time. Renney likes his size and strength and PK ability, but he can't finish. Same thing with Hall.
Nothing new on the trade front---although I haven't made any calls while I'm on vacation. But it makes sense that likely swap partners would be the Blues, Coyotes and Blackhawks, who wants anything Philly's offering unless they're giving away Forsberg....
One piece of news: The Sens' MIke Fisher is injured and apparently out for the Rangers game
Until later,
Cheers....

Mike York may be available from the Flyers, as he's a ufa after the year wouldn't mind bringing him back. As far as Orty going down if he's close why not plug him in over stiff like Hossa and Hall? Btw Steve what were the lines in practice today? Also when will or will Renney ever make Rachunek accountable for his putrid play?
Hossa may be a better keep over Hall. At least Hossa does some backchecking.
Hey Steve... listened to Eklund on XM Radio today and he said he thinks Olli Jokinen will be up for grabs come trade deadline and so will Shane Doan. I think either of those, Jokinen obviously, would be a great fit in NY on the 2nd line.
Any thoughts? I keep hearing Guerin, but I don't want another 36 year old on the team, although I understand it would be just a rental player.
Jokinen still has time on his contract I believe, and he'd be good for a few years still. Would the price be too high for him?
No Guerin...PLEASE! I'd rather them overuse the young kids and play horrible than get older. Guerin is a step backwards.
Swap Cullen for York. I would drool to see Mike York between Shanny and Prucha!!!!
Rucchin Eklund never ever has gotten a rumor to come true he has no sources. The Panthers just gave him a longterm deal last year they aren't dealing him. Doan might be on the move.
I would love to acquire center Mike Comrie (26) from the ‘yotes. He is really gritty, fast, and is a good play-maker. Still...our defense is a much bigger issue then our second line. All the teams mentioned in the article (Blues,Coyotes, Blackhawkes, and even Phildephlia) have good/solid defenseman such as Jovocop, Brewer or Backman,Seabrook, and Joni Pitkanen. Wish we could get something from these struggling teams.
