UPDATE: Kicking Dan Boyle’s tires

Islanders general manager Garth Snow recently said he probably is done shopping for free agents, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t working the phones and, as he says, “kicking some tires.” Earlier this afternoon, I received a tip the Islanders are one of six teams in the running to trade for Tampa Bay defenseman Dan Boyle.

The new owners of the Lightning reportedly have asked Boyle to consider waiving the no-trade clause in the six-year deal worth $40 million that he signed last season before the ownership change. Thanks to a spate of recent signings, the Lightning is over the salary cap and has 27 NHL contracts, according to a report in the St. Pete Times.

Boyle's agent, George Bazos, told the Times his client plans to think things over tonight and make a decision on Friday about whether or not to waive his no-trade clause.

Dumping Boyle’s average annual salary of $6.667 million would go a long way toward solving that problem. The Lightning is believed to be seeking a puck-moving defenseman at a much lower salary plus draft picks to replace the ones they’ve dealt away. It’s pure speculation, but the Islanders could offer a choice of defensemen Chris Campoli or Radek Martinek. While they likely don’t want to part with their first-round pick in 2009, which would be part of the Lightning's asking price, the Isles could sweeten the pot with two second-round picks.

Snow declined comment through a spokesman. Considering the power Boyle has via his no-trade clause, the Islanders have to be considered a longshot to land him. Ottawa, which is Boyle’s hometown, and San Jose are viewed as the likely frontrunners. But at least the Isles are on the list of teams Tampa Bay is considering.

EX-ISLES: No doubt, many Islanders fans saw the news earlier this afternoon that Miroslav Satan and Ruslan Fedotenko both signed with Eastern Conference champion Pittsburgh. That means the former Isles will face their old team in six division games next season.

Both signed one-year deals. Satan took a cut from $4.485 million to $3.5 million, while Fedotenko dropped marginally from $2.9 million to $2.5 million. Not bad for two players coming off mediocre 16-goal seasons. Suddenly, the deal Snow gave Fedotenko last July doesn’t look like such an “overpayment.”

Considering the Penguins lost Marian Hossa and Ryan Malone as free agents, it will be interesting to see how the former Islanders do if they’re teamed up with centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. They just might score more than 16 goals apiece.

LMAO! Why would Boyle come to the icelanders? Hopefully has some type of respect for himself and stays as far away from that dump nassau coliseum as possible.

LETS GO RANGERS

What would be the point of Dan Boyle?

He wouldn't help lessen the physical beatings our young forwards are going to take.

He wouldn't make enough difference to make the team competitive.

He makes a load of money and they would want campoli in return.

The goal for next season should be the highest possible draft pick in an effort to secure franchise offensive talent around which to build a team that can score goals. It doesn't matter how many games they win, which is good, because they will not win many. It is important that this be "growing" or however you'd like to spin it is accomplished without any of the young "talent" getting their heads bashed through the glass on a nightly basis, which leads to things like speech impediments and career-ending or altering injuries. If something is not done to address the lack of a physical presence this team has, something very nasty is going to happen to someone important to this team sooner or later.

I would like to bring up the subject of the goaltending, which to me is something nobody is paying any attention to. Specifically:

-Is Rick physically able to play four more seasons before the team becomes competitive, without sustaining some kind of serious injury or losing effectiveness as the constant beatings he takes start to catch up with him? That's a lot of hockey between now and the time this team will have a chance to be any more than a doormat.

-Is Rick mentally able to grow with this team, and mature and become a leader and not do stupid things? I'm afraid he may not have the mental toughness to put the team above his ego and accept the fact that he is only one small part and not the entire team. He makes that mistake a lot and does stupid things like getting caught out of position trying to score goals or clear pucks. He does it especially often when the team is getting its ass kicked, which will be very frequently. He also seems to think he's the second coming of marty brodeur, and should play every minute in every single game. He isn't. Will he be able to take the "rebuilding" process for a number of years more? Will he learn to just sit down and shut his damn mouth and stop being such a pompous jackass for the better of the team? He has known very little beyond plainly poor hockey teams here and it will eventually get to him in some way, I think.

-If Rick were not into such a long-term contract, would he be traded for more youthful talent, since the reset button has been pressed, and, given his injury history, it seems unlikely he will still be in his physical "prime" in 3 to 5 years? I would. I'd get whatever I can for him right now, and turn it into as much can't miss offensive talent I possibly could. If you're going to rebuild the whole thing, you rebuild the whole thing. Period. Like it or not, Rick is the ultimate reminder of Milbury and his idiocy. He may be a good goalie, but his injury history is very scary, too scary, for me.

I just don't think Rick is physically or mentally tough enough to be the goaltender that leads this team to a cup. Not from here, not from a total start-over.

Dan Boyle is a big time defenseman who has a ring, plays 25-30 minutes a game and has the knack of putting the puck in the net. He's well worth $6.67M per.

Should the Isles give up a player and a #1 for him? Probably not, but if they could somehow get him for less than that (and they probably can't), they absolutely should.

stop with trying to win as few games as you can next year because the 3rd pick in the draft might be worse than the 20th. play the season to win and draft wisely if you have the 20th pick or the 3rd pick.

There is no way the Isles should give up a #1 for Boyle ...

Tampa needs to get rid of him ...why do them the favor of taking his salary off their hands AND give them our #1 - which will be high - I agree with you db but odds are next year we'll have a high #1 ...

It's the same theory as Toronto and McCabe, but this is worse because Tampa needs to dump his salary ...if Boyle wanted to come here - which I doubt - then the Isles should offer a 2nd round pick and Gervais (overrated) and leave it at that

Boyle is the type of defenseman that rounds out your defensive corps. I would do the trade in a second as long as they are not asking for a number 1. Lastly, if they should happen to land Boyle, the Islanders need only concentrate on forwards.

http://www.islesblogger.com

azs i never said we should give up a first round pick for him next year. i was refering to frei who is trying to lose every game next year when theres a lottery and you still might not get #1 even if you are the worst team in the league. that being said looking at his age(32) and years left 6 at 6.5 mill and the fact tb wants to get rid of him. i think gervais and a second would be as far as i would go as well.

The Isles as it seems ... have more depth on defense than they do up front ... obviously.

I think if anything .. the Isles should offer up Gervais, 2nd round pick (we'll still have another) and either 7th round or Dustin Kohn.

As AZS said ... we shouldn't give them much more to help them out of their conundrum ... even though other teams may be eagar to.

When I got home before I expect to see Jagr in the Orange and Blue ... Oh well ... maybe tomorrow ;)

Remember the Islanders have three 2nd round picks in 09. The have Toronto, they have Boston(nokelainan trade) and their own pick

Hey i'd take Jagr on a 2 year deal in a second. Someone to watch during the rebuilding process. He gets to stay in NY. I think it would be alot of fun. I also believe he can easily score more then 25 goals. Give him a call Snow see what he is after show him some love.

Sorry db, didn't mean to say that you wanted to give up a #1, was more trying to agree with you that they shouldn't try and lose but that I also thought they would finish towards the bottom anyways ...

At a party tonight and this chowdah head got me good...so good I thoguht I would share it with the Islanders Nation.....

He (a guy I had never met before) asked me if Long Island was one of the Keys in Florida....I looked at him like he was out of his bird and said: " are you kidding me?" "It is in NY."

He then said: "Oh my bad, I just figured it was in Florida b/c that is where the old NHL players go to spend their last years."

Turns out my buddy (huge Bruins fan) put him up to it......Ohhhhh the pain !!

p.s To pick that Weight will have between 10-15 goals is complete chiken sh^t....Come on boys that is what he has done lately....I say 7 goals max....And if I am right it means he is getting less playing time and the kids are improving....If I am wrong God help us all.

I see some of the ex boys signed some nice deals with Pitt....I guess they did have some value after all huh ??? Nice job nice getting anything for them last year BOBBLEHEADS !!!

Quote from Streit taken from Logan's article in the main pages...

"I really like the team, and I love the city. So, it was kind of an easy decision for me"

City?
I hope this guy realizes that he didn't sign with the Rangers.

Steady....what's your thoughts on taking a run at Jagr?

Boyle is a number one D man on any team (except maybe Detroit). He is young, proven and signed for the next couple of years. He has also won a Cup.

Would you not trade him for Bailey?
For Bergenheim?
For Noke?
For Robert Neilson?
For O'Mara?

These were all number one picks in the draft. Personally, I wouldn't trade Boyle for all of them put together.

The hockey highway is littered with number one draft picks who never amounted to anything, never played a game in the NHL.

When you can get an established star who is young, affordable and willing to come here you move heaven and earth to do it.

Anyone who thinks they are doing Tampa a favor taking an All Star D Man off their hands ........well, I won't get into it.

Watch the bidding for Boyle. A number one "maybe" "might be"
Could be" is nothing to give up for an established All Star.

19 ISLES..........Interesting take from Julien on Canadian history. Back then Canada was divided in Upper Canada (Quebec, Trios Rivres , Montreal, etc) and Lower Canada (What would later become Totonto). The American Founding Fathers beleived (wrongly) that the French speaking residents of Upper Canada
would join the Americans and that Canada would in effect become the 14 th state. In 1775 they launched a two pronged invasion, Arnold overland theough Maine into Quebec and Montgomery thorugh NY into Montreal. The French Canadians did not welcome the Americans with open arms and both forces were forced to retreat back across the border with heavy losses.

The Americans were to repeat the same mistake in the War of 1812. They just didn't get it.

And actually, after the American Civil War ended, Irish-American
ex soldiers invaded western Canada in an attempt to set up their own state and force Canada from British rule. This was know as the Fenian raids and was once again defeated by the loyal Canadians.

History is a wonderful thing...............Sir William

Go for it Garth, worth Gervais , Meyer and /or a second!!

The fact that Satan and Tank signed with Pitt only means that Pitt had to replace their forward corps, because they lost Malone, Hall and Hossa. Pitt did not need Tank or Satan last year.

So, to assume that either one could have had trade value last year is false. Far different circumstance between getting a player via FA and actually giving up something of value for him.....
Sir William.

I think that Tampa would want Martinek, Gervais and a number one or two pick for Boyle. They would need cheap D men who are proven NHL players and a future pick to sweeten the pot.

Martinek is signed for a couple of years and Gervais is not eligible
for FA for a while. This would make sense for Tampa who have spent out of control money on offense.
You have to give something to get something.............Sir William

this is my first time posting on this blog. Huge isles fan but to the guy who says Weight will score 7 goals.. No offense, but you're an idiot. He's 2 years older then Markus Naslund, yet if the Isles signed Naslund I bet you'd think it was such an amazing signing by Snow. They didn't sign Weight to score 30 goals. He's there to mentor the young guys and maybe get more out of Guerin. I'm tired of hearing how stupid some of you guys are. You call yourself Islanders fans but all you do is complain

ISLESFANINFL You can disagree with people, here but calling them stupid is not the way to go. Make you arguement, state your case and present your facts. Name calling and personal attacks just result in more of the same.

I happen to agree with you that Weight will socre more than 7 goals and I think that he will help the younger player in a way that only a veteran can. I also agree that there is way too much second guessing and too many wriers who think that they are smarter than the Isles brain trust. But, that is what the blog is for.

"No offense, but you're an idiot"

Would you take offense to that statement? I would.

Beleive me, I have no reason to defend the person you are referring to, but all it does is fan the flames.

So, keep it civil and come back again..........Sir William

It wouldn't be a bad move b/c our youth that needs ice time are all forwards....we would be solidifying the defence. He won't waive his NTC but it would be a good move

ISLEFANINFL......

ROFLMAO

Welcome to the board!!!!!!
We all appreciate fresh perspectives and fresh ideas.
In fact, some here, like....the "idiot" who said Weight would score 7 goals (he is known as "Steady") appreciate fresh blood.
So DO NOT be misled by the pseudonym he uses.
It in no way reflects his temper nor his demeanor.
But you'll find out soon enough when he reads your comment in the morning.

Oh......Happy Independence Day everybody, you made my weekend ISLEFANINFL.

Like Sir William said.....please....come back again.

This is gonna be good.

BTW,

For those of you new and old who may have missed this from a previous blog.....take a second and go visit the Final Score...our old friend Baumbach's blog.. and checkout Nick's fine work in our attempt to push the Al Arbour-maligner over the edge of sanity.

Here's the link....

That's just good stuff Nick.

If Wang didn't want to spend money then he wouldn't have outbid for smyth, tried to make a trade for Huselius and attempt to convince the detractors in Nassau that the lighthouse project needs to be built. As far as I've heard last year Wang and Snow also offered Drury and Hannan more money then they got from their respective teams. They are building things the right way. There is youth and there are veterans there to support them. If they try to get Dan boyle then it would help. Some of you complain about everything. Frei you make me especially sick with your negativity its disgusting you go on and on about how everything the Islanders do is wrong. Just buy your new Rags Naslund jersey and have a ball at the garden.

First off....Happy Fourth of July everybody!!!!!

Ponder this today.......Boyle on the trade block. We should go after him. Would put us in a great spot defensively.

For me, Boyle/McCabe....not much of a difference in terms of no-trade clauses, McCabe is prob more money, and either one would improve this teams overall defense just for the simple fact either one could play more games than Martinek and Gervais combined.

I'll bet you this: If Toronto does not sign Sundin to a contract, and we can't Boyle, the Isles will go after McCabe.

Toronto will lose without Sundin, and want McCabe gone. Why not accommodate a team that is not going anywhere but down, and give them cap space on second tier players this year of what's left in the free agent market?

I'm not saying I want this to happen, but don't be surprised.

I'm not wild about the idea of trading one of the three young d's mentioned (Campoli, Gervais or Meyer) but it's a very long shot that any of them turn into the kind of player that would command the type of money that Boyle got. I also don't like the length of Boyle's deal. That being said, the Isles need more NHL-caliber D in front of DP or Rick will be shot before Okposo and company start shaving every day. If the Bolts would take Meyer and a #1 in 2009, that would be a deal that helps both teams and I would do it. Witt, Sutton, Streit, Boyle, Campoli, Martinek, and Gervais- I can almost relax with that corps. At least Nolan would have to feel like he was being given a chance to compete on a nightly basis. If the Isles can get a "last hurrah" type of year out of the Guerin/Weight/Sim line, let Comrie slot in at #2 (where he belongs) with Comeau and Tambellini. Put Okposo with Sillinger and Hunter and let him learn how to play the NHL game, and rotate your spare parts around Park.
I'd at least watch that team, and any success would be gravy.

Jagr appears to have signed in Omsk - yet another defection to the KHL.

And as for 505's link, I'm only upset it didn't cause Baumbach to throw up.

9:28am was not me.

505: YES, I think I would give Jagr two years if he would do it....The guy simply can control a game and cannot be defended when on his game.....The fact the Rangers lost him and Avery is tremendous..Question is would he stay motivated in Long Island???...Not sure what they are thinking on Bdwy???

Islefaninfl: Just like Hyman Roth once said in Cuba: "You're small potatoes." move along.

Petrov had a similar message for NHL teams during his recent trip to Toronto for the Scouting Combine, expressing his desire to play in the NHL sooner rather than later.

"The experience at the Combine made me understand things a lot better," Petrov said through an interpreter. "I really want to play in the NHL and only in the NHL."

Petrov's agent, Alexander Tyjnych of Ottawa, is prepared to do whatever it takes to make his client's wishes come true.

http://mapleleafs.nhl.com/team/app/?...ticleid=366162

Steady,

"???...Not sure what they are thinking on Bdwy???"

Bobbleheading knows no boundaries?

BOYLE waives his no trade clause to sign in SAN JOSE!!

I like the Weight pick up alot actually..At first, I was like come on there are so many younger players to sign(Ryder, Huselius were my top 2)....But after much thought of the pickup, I think this is a great pick up...Reuniting Guerin and Weight, who are both nearing the end of there careers, may have a lot to prove...They are very close friends and played great together, and i think this year we are going to be suprised at how well Weight and Guerin perform this year....I feel they are going to push each other to the max to show this young kids how to be NHL players, and what it takes to make it in the NHL...With Weight and Streit on the Powerplay, with say Okposo and Tambellin(who better prove this year hes deserves to be in the NHL, or trade him by allstar week), I like the looks of that....I still believe we are going to have a loooooong season, and at times it may be very difficult to watch, but I'm looking forward to watching the kids progress over the season....

As for Bailey, I would really like to see him push for a spot at Camp...Id love to see lines like this starting the season:

Tamby-Weight-Guerin(Tamby needs veterans to help him finally succeed i think, and thats the only reason i put him first line).
Comeau-Bailey-Okposo
Bergy-Comrie-Hunter
Sim-Neilsen-Park

Streit/Witt
Sutton/Martinek-or Hillen
Campoli/Meyers-or Gervais

Any thoughts on my Line Combos??

Everyone have a safe and Happy 4th of July!!!!

Matt Carle, a 1st, a 4th, and a prospect for Boyle and Lukowich?

Thank you, Garth, for not trading next year's 1st.

Wow Nick .... Boyle's a really good pickup for San Jose ... but the cost??? They got feeeced ... Tampa Bay is really building a future... another power house emerging in the East.

Prospect was Ty Wishart - big, 6'4 defenseman....What an awful trade for San Jose. Tampa's over the cap and you pay through the nose anyway? Glad to see Garth didn't do that.

As for trade rumors, in all honesty why wouldn't Garth kick the tires on any player that would be traded as a salary dump? We have the cap space, and it doesn't hurt anybody to make a courtesy call. Frankly, I'd be more upset if Garth WASN'T in on this, though I'm sure he hung up the second Tampa set the price.

Steady, I don't know if you are being sarcastic, but Trent Hunter has been a solid player- not sure how anyone could complain about him. In years when nobody on the roster could be bothered trying, Hunter was the only one who played with pride and gave 100% regardless of the opponent or score. Nobody expects him to score 40 goals or to be an enforcer- those aren't his roles. He is a third-line grinder and he is very good at what he does (btw- although he had a disappointing year goal-wise, his 41 points last year were only 3 fewer than Guerin had and 8 fewer than Comrie's team-leading total). He also rises to the occasion in big games and scores timely goals- look at how well he did in the few playoff series he has had. Filling in after the Peca injury in the Toronto season he had a goal and an assist in 4 games, and he had 3 goals in the 5-game series against Buffalo two years ago.

I have seen Yagr and I have seen Naslund.

Naslund is no Yagr.

Kevin T.

Should have read Jagr. I guess that killed my point.

Oh well.

I LIKE it tonysac....

Although I would rather see a secret service or UFC guy on the 4th line and move Park over to Center.

Nick said .. "As for trade rumors, in all honesty why wouldn't Garth kick the tires on any player that would be traded as a salary dump? Nick ... you are one of the people that gets it ... you have to turn stones ... the phone rings .... you answer it ... you hear em out ... you name your price ... and if they don't like it ... you say ... "Buh Bye" ... or you compromise .. but you never sell your soul ... we've been down that path a lot in the last 15 years ... I'm glad Snow learned.
------------------------------------
Also ... for the Filatov lovers .... he lied to the NHL ... he's under contract in Russia this year ... I'd love to see how this pans out.
----------------------------------
Speaking of Russia ... the NHL's current CBA ... is trouble for the NHL .... big trouble .... I think after next season the UFA age goes down to 25 years old ... that is #@%$% ridiculous ... the average good player doesn't even get a regular spot on an NHL till he's like 21 or 22 years old at the earliest ... and that is just the good players ... that means a team spends $$$$ developing a player ... gets a servicable player for about 3 years .... and then in all likelyhood ... watches that player that they scouted at 16-17 years old ... drafted at 18 .... and developed since he was 19 - 23 years old .... only to give the team maybe 3 growing years .... (remember ... players begin their peak between 25 and 28 years old) .... then the player leaves the team that invested soooo much time and money on the player ... to watch that player takes his "best years" to another team.

What does this have to do with Russia??? Well ... Russian hockey people were smart ..... they saw this crazy rule in the CBA .... they know that they can lore back their players ... and Euro players over time ... but needed to get the league started now .... but one un-intended consequence of the CBA was attracting North American players to Russia ... b/c that league didn't exist as a world priemier league ... the NHL lockout actually helped get that league some notice when NHL players went there ..... irony that sometimes you gotta watch what you wish for ... you just might get it.

19 ISLE in NJ 22, I am with you on the FA at 25 years old. It is insane. There is going to be some crazy long term contracts handed out for young players. Basically ruining them. You have to keep the players hungry to get the most out of them.

Kevin

Agreed Kevin ... it's going to be really interesting. How many 25 year old NHL players have really peaked yet? Some do at an earlier age ... the special ones ... but what is going to happen is to make NHL GMs take their 2nd big gamble on a player they drafted .... the 1st gamble is drafting them in the 1st place .... the second gamle is to either sign them to a long term deal in hopes they'll continue their development .... or not sign them to a deal long enough to ensure they have them locked up as they develop.

Oh .... one thing I forgot to mention yesterday about Streit that Julien mentioned .... although he doesn't have the exact numbers on this because this particular stat hasn't been filtered ... but Julien seems to believe that Streit was a bigger minus player when he played forward ... and was really vague about his defensive responsibilities when he played the wing.

It was always an adjustment for him when he was moved up ... and it actually had a negative impact on his game at both positions. He said it would be interesting to see how Streit can perform when he's locked into one role ... which is offensive defenseman.... I was reminded of this after reading Logan's article about Streit.

19Isles

"Also ... for the Filatov lovers .... he lied to the NHL ... he's under contract in Russia this year ... I'd love to see how this pans out."

If this is TRUE.....I am imagine that this blog will be filled with apologies from people who bashed Snow for passing on him.

Right????

ATTABOY GARTH!!!
NICE BOBBLE!!!!

I think Streit is going to be a great pickup. Snow knows from his playing days that often good players are put in difficult situations. And of course it is going to affect the players numbers.

- How the coach uses you?
- Does the coach like your play or avoid you?
- Who do you get to play with?
- What situations you put on the ice for?
- etc.

And on the same point, some players get overrated when they are in good situations. It is a team game.

So I think Snow has shown that he tries to find good players in bad situations. Those players will sincerely be happy to come to the Island if they know they will given a fair shake. It doesn't always work out, but the risk is low for both sides with short term contracts. And the fact most players that have come to the Island are able to move on and get great contracts with established teams, is actually a help to Snow for drawing players. The player has to believe it is a good move for his career. As long as Snow makes that happen for the players, he is going to keep improving the Roster.

Old school GMs just don't have what it takes to make the moves needed to turn around this team. I think Snow is the right GM for the Isles at this point.

Kevin T.

505 .. I've read a few posts regarding Filatov's status .... one of them actually has Filatov being quoted with some questions regarding his status ...

Of course Columbus and company deny any issue with Filatov's staus .... here is the article ...

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2008/06/29/bjno0629.ART_ART_06-29-08_C8_8DAK7KB.html?type=rss&cat=&sid=101

Below is a link to the article by the IHFF .... the big organization that matters and sets the rules for eligibility ... even though there is no transfer agreement .... b/c they also make up the eligibility lists to internation tournaments ... well .. I'll let you read ... have a look at their artcile regarding the Filatov issue... judge for yourself ... admittedly it's not clear cut... they said .. he said.

http://www.iihf.com/nc/home-of-hockey/club-events/news-singleview-club-events/article/filatov-his-options-and-choice.html

Never posted here before, but as a Canadian, I must point out that Sir William is mistaken. Upper Canada was what is now Southern Ontario, Lower Canada is now what is Southern Quebec, not hte other way around. :)

Other then that Sir William, your posts are usually dead on.

Canadian 101 You are, of course, 100% right. A typing mix up on my part. Happy 4 th of July to out Canadian cousins.......Sir William

San Jose got fleeced? There is an old sports adage that states "the team that got the best player wins the trade."

San Jose got an All Star D man and a quality stay at home D man
for a average player (Matt Carle), a 1st rounder ( which will be in the mid 20"s) a 4 th rounder (big deal) and a prospect (who knows?)

San Jose added Blake, Boyle and Lukowich to their defense and gave up ONE player from their current line up. They aslo added the toughness that they lacked in Blake and Boyle.

Seems to me they won this trade in a big way.......Sir William

Canadian101, are you an Isles fan or just wanted to correct the history comment?

Kevin T.

Happy 4th of July.

Frei: you blow, your posts make me want to puke. You are by far the worst.

Way to go SIR WILLIAM.

Peace out.

Marra has resigned with the Rangers and that moves them up to the cap limit according to the Daily News. Shouldn't Garth now tender an offer sheet to Dawes that the Rangers cannot match?

So far I have only seen one RFA offer sheet offered. If I am the NHL Players Assn I am smelling collusion here. Only Vancouver has bucked the tide and sent a sheet to a St Louis player. St Louis immediately matched.

What gives here?
Are there no RFA's worth signing?

Opinions...............Sir William

I respect the idea of trying to sign Dawes to an offer sheet. It's good strategy and is certainly within the rules, but are we all willing to start a RFA war with the rangers, a team that has deeper pockets than the Isles?

The Isles are in a youth movement which means they'll have plenty RFAs in the years to come. That's plenty opportunity for the NYR to strike back.

above was not steady...Just another troll at home on the 4th of July!
