Josh Bailey.
Honest.
Bailey is a 6-foot, 192-pound center who played for the Windsor Spitfires, the same team that coach Ted Nolan’s son Jordan is on. Bailey scored 29 goals and had 67 assists for 96 points last season. Obviously, the Islanders are hoping he develops into the first-line playmaking center they currently lack.

Let me ask you right now... Which would you prefer? Nikita Filatov, or Josh Bailey and two second rounders?
I'd take Filatov. The Isles don't need 10 average players, they need a difference maker.
I am so frustrated right now I can't even begin to think how to express it.
I'd said I'd give him another half season...too bad. Garth must go...NOW!
mayhem,
excellent point. if your board does not rank the 5th player with the 5th pick, you move back.
excellent draft strategy by snow.

I hate Snow so much words cannot describe it.
GET RID OF HIM. Bailey is the worst choice he could have made. I didn't even know who the heck that was til they drafted him.
I'd have taken Filatov or Schenn.
I guess rooting for losses the last month or so of the season to get a higher draft pick was a waste of time. I'm no expert on the draft but I can tell you the guys on TSN loved the move on Toronto's end, I guess we will have to wait and see how this works out.
Angry fan, you actually know nhl prospects? Puhlease. Thats the worst reason to criticize a pick.
The russian was high risk/high reward. After all the franchise has been through isn't the lesser yet surer thing maybe the way to go?
Obviously only time will tell, but we do know this-the minors will be replenished for a deadline deal next year to propel them on a playoff run.
Ugh....we passed off a player people compare to Daniel Alfresson for a center compared to Cory Stillman. Ugh.
Dreadful stretch run to earn a lottery pick and you wind up selecting a player that would have been available had they made the playoffs. This is NOT the way to collect high end talent. A lot of mediodre does not equal quality. Are they going to ice 10 players at a time to make up for the talent gap?
Most projections have him as a second line center that scores near 60points per season. He's also referred to as potential captain material. Doesn't this sound strangely familiar (O'mara)
Trade the 5th pick when you could have had Filatov? Are you guys for real? Who's going to score for this club? Hilbert? So frustrating! Keep filling the minors Garth! Join them there, please!
I bet nolan is pissed. He's def out after this yr when his contract runs out. It looks like he was just sitting there and had no say. Snow is a moron. I can understand the 1st move, but the 2nd move made no sense.
What an absolute joke. Can this franchise ever take the best player available? This chinaman owner makes Spano look good, he's awful and his lackeys should be ashamed of themselves. If we were winning cups left and right with homegrown talent, then MAYBE we could believe this was a good pick. But when all we do is sneak into the 8th spot on a good year, I would THINK that this kind of pick exemplifies their lack of desire to really win. It's a long way from 1983 man, this franchise is dead in the water...just move already and stop this charade.
I think Snow did alright. He wasn't sold on the players available to him at 5, so he traded down and got more pics, ala Bill Walsh. I hope he gets some decent prospects for the team, and signs no old players this off season. Then we get Tavares next year. And have a stable of good young players. I was not sold on Filatov myself, and i know if he took Schenn, all you so called fans would get pissed at him for that. Not many ways to please alot of you posters, but he has one happy fan here in Canada.
I am so glad I live in Florida. I no longer have to read or watch the stupidity that this organization engages in on a daily basis.
I just don't understand this team. I hope we make some noise in the free agent market.
