Also, I strongly suggest that the people who comment on this board should be allowed to write certain entries if they choose. Doesn't everyone want to know Steady's first impulse when the pick is made?

Hey Doc, stop by the Marriott before the draft party if you can make it. Ask for the NIMBY party, you won't be disappointed.
This just in. Web traffic on the Newsday site will be increasing once again the next few days as 19 Isles in NJ had left his hotel in Dallas and on his way back to Islander Country.
We're going to try and make the NIMBY gathering in possible. If not, we'll be at the draft party. 19 says he know's he's going to catch a good ribbing for his long posts, but looks forward to seeing the other NIMBYs.
He tried to get on this blog this morning from the Hotel business resource center, but that access to the blog portion of Newsday was blocked because their filters were set to very sensitive for obscene material/ untrusted source. LOL! What is on this site anyway?
His last words before the draft are based on 3 scenarios.
If the Isles stand pat at #5. Draft Wilson or Filatov. He said Filatov is only an inch shorter and pound less than Stamkos. So what's the big deal about his size?
Wilson he said will be a stud 2-way center.
His trade up scenario is for Bogosian.
His trade down to no less than #8 scenario is for Boedker / Wilson if he's still on the board.
He says let Toronto gag on McCabe's contract. He may even become a buyout target. Or totally rob Toronto if they are set on trading him, and McCabe does infact waive his no-trade clause to join the Isles.
He also said if the Isles take a forward with their first pick. Then package a 2nd and 3rd round pick for a middle 1st round pick no worse than 22nd. Then grab John Carlson defenseman from Indiana USHL. He's just a tick below the top teir of offensive defensemen at the top of the draft. He's improved greatly year over year and is a product of the Metro Youth Hockey League from the NJ rockets. 19 saw him play when Carlson played the NJ Titans Youth team in Wall, NJ. Said he stood out when he was only 15 years old. He never realized that the kid worked his way to the top class of this draft and said he's worth it.
OK...today is the big day for the FUTURE of this organization.....WE honestly need to make the right move..I really think we need to stick with the 5th pick...I have this good feeling, that FILATOV will still be there at #5 and we draft him, and its the beginning of a very very good thing....If FILATOV is not there I am torn on what to do...If FILATOV is not there, then one of the top 3 defensemen will still be there....do we pick that defensemen up or trade down for say WILSON, BODEKER OR HODGSONS?? I really would not want to be SNOW if thats what happens today..It would make his life alot easier if FILATOV is there and we pick him..Its a no brainer and NO FAN can argue with his pick....but if hes not there and he has to make the choice of trading down or picking one top 3 defensmen, I will feel SNOWS pain......LETS all keep our fingers crossed, say a little prayer to the hockey gods that we draft FILATOV, and finally be able to say we made the right DECISION....

Im so P-off that i wont be able to check out the draft till late tonight...Im gonna be anxious from 7 until i get home to see what happens...I just hope i get home and have something to smile about...LETS GO ISLANDERS!!!

I cast my vote for Wilson, but will not be "disappointed" if we get Filatov

And I agree with 19 Isles' assessment completely. I would take Wilson or Schenn at 5 if Filatov is off the board. If Filatov is on the board, I would try quite literally to hold Toronto hostage for that pick, and if they bite we still get Wilson at 7.
This should be fun.
That's all good but it could also be because Wilson sounds like a beast...with confidence to go along with his physical presence! But seriously...don't hit your head too hard.

Folks, Toronto has made it VERY clear that they have no intention of trading McCabe
GM Cliff Fletcher: “We are not soliciting any trade offers for Bryan McCabe whatsoever"
Besides, the buyout option on McCabe is terribly unattractive for Toronto.
on a buy out the cap hit in 2009-10 and 2010-11 is $3.2 mil. However he is set to earn $4.15 mil in those seasons with a cap hit of $5.75 mil. You have to think that instead of buying him out, McCabe’s final two seasons make him very tradable to a low-revenue team who can use this contract to get to the cap floor while saving $1.6 mil in cash. McCabe may not be tradable right now with three years and $14.45 mil left on his deal but I imagine that by next year’s deadline when that drops to two years and $8.3 mil
It's endlessly amusing to me that despicable and disgusting post made it through last night, but my post that cut and paste my previous posts advocating Wilson got flagged.
