Shawn Bates’ bad luck

For Shawn Bates, the highlight of his days at training camp has been the afternoon rounds of golf he’s played with buddy Rick DiPietro. If not for that, Bates said the other day, he’d have nothing to take his mind off the long hours of rehab for his abdomen injury and his uncertain future on the ice.

Back in the spring, Bates was pushing to come back from a groin injury in the hope of playing by the end of the Islanders’ first-round playoff series in Buffalo. He pushed too hard.

While the team was in Buffalo, Bates suffered a major setback after a solo workout at the Isles’ practice facility in Syosset. “I knew it was bad,” Bates said. “I was skating by myself and feeling good. It was one of those days where I went home, and I started internally bleeding and had to get rushed to the hospital. I spent the whole day in the hospital. It was a tough thing to go through.”

Bates still is going through problems related to the injury. The combination of undergoing surgery for a sports hernia and trying to strengthen the groin and abdomen area that is crucial to his ability to be a strong skater still is bothering him after six months of rehabilitation. He’s continuing to work out on his own at camp, but no comeback will be attempted until he is 100 percent healthy.

“Right now, no, I don’t think it’s career threatening,” said Bates, who has two years remaining on his contract. “It’s a matter of getting the proper rehab and the proper strengthening. It’s going to take some time to get back. With this type of injury, you don’t want to come back at 75 percent because you’re vulnerable to doing something [to reinjure it] if you’re compensating. You want to be sure it’s 100 percent. I wouldn’t be the happiest person if I came back and got hurt in the first week.”

When Bates finally does return, he’s going to find a crowded situation at center. The Islanders signed free agent Josef Vasicek to center the second line and are using veteran Richard Park to center the fourth line. Prospect Frans Nielsen has added 15 pounds of muscle and is looking good in camp, and the Isles also traded for Ben Walter, who scored 67 points for Providence in the AHL last season.

Speaking of general manager Garth Snow, Bates said, “Snowy has a job to do, and that’s to put a team out on the ice. I’m not ready to start the season. You need four lines, and that’s what he’s done. I’m not worried about it, but I’m working hard to get back. We’ll see what happens when the time comes.

“It gets to you mentally. But you can’t let it bother you because it will just get worse and worse. You try to keep a positive attitude and come to the rink every day and work hard.”

CAMP NOTES: Former Moncton Wildcats Chris Gaudet and Andy McDonald will be in the lineup for Wednesday night’s exhibition game against Montreal at the Moncton Coliseum. Blake Comeau, Gordie Dwyer and Tim Jackman also will get a look among the prospects. Free agent signees Mike Comrie, Bill Guerin, Ruslan Fedotenko and Andy Sutton also will make their exhibition debuts as Islanders. Rick DiPietro is expected to play the first two periods in goal before giving way to Wade Dubielewicz.

Coach Ted Nolan wasn’t too impressed with his team’s performance in the second exhibition game, a 3-1 loss to Boston that came after a long day on which the Isles flew to North Bay, Ontario for their opening 4-3 overtime loss to Atlanta and then made the long flight to St. Johns, Newfoundland to meet a Bruins team that had a veteran-dominated roster. But Nolan said free agent center Josef Vasicek followed a poor opening game with a solid effort against the Bruins, including a fight he won with Andrew Ference. “You look for guys to step up,” Nolan said. “Vasicek, with his skill and the way he can dish the puck, certainly can do that. The one thing we’re looking for is a little bit more competitiveness. In the second game, he showed that, so, now we know there’s something to build on.”

The reviews for two other young forwards, Sean Bergenheim and Jeff Tambellini, were not so glowing. “Bergenehim was a little bit rusty in the first couple of games, but we’re sure he’ll get better and better as we go,” Nolan said. “Tambellini was the same thing. He played okay, but we’re looking for better than okay. Okay, to me, is not very good. He can play a lot better.” Nolan praised the play of Comeau and goaltender Joey McDonald in the first game.

Batesy is gonna have to work awfully hard to take that spot from Richard Park as the 4th line center, because thats the only spot he has a chance of taking. Its a coin flip between the two but with Park being healthy through camp you have to give him the edge. Not too excited about the reviews of Bergenheim and tambellini as I see big things out of both, especially Tambellini. I expect to see much better things out of both of them tonight.

Sounds like Bates is going to have to prove an awful lot at Bridgeport to crack the lineup again. 4th line maybe.

There is alot of competition at camp this year. I think Nolan's comments about Bergenheim & Tambellini is his way of motivating them. Nolan is not going to hand them the roster spot if they don't win it. I think he wants them to win it, but they have to show him more than they apparantly have so far.

I know Campoli got hurt at the end of camp last year, but did anyone expect him not to be back in the lineup when he was healthy. Nolan wants players who will play night in and night out and will compete and play to their ability. That is a Nolan type of player. He does not give free hand outs.I hope Berg & Tamb step it up big time.

I was curioos to hear from Logan if Gervais & Campoli came into camp with some added bulk? That was a big concern nand perceived weakness for those two on defense. Sounds like Frans Neilson was hitting the gym pretty hard. (he needed too)

Bates looks like he has a pretty big uphill climb. I doubt he will have any significant ice time for the Isles this year. Anyone read about the proposed schedule changes? It looks like we will face off against the 'division rivals' 6 times instead of the current 8. I wouldn't mind this at all being that we will be able to see more talent from around the league rather than the same teams again and again.

Caesar:

In my experience, the ushers have gotten super-strict in the last year or two. I used to be able to slip them ten for a 100-level seat. I've heard (on this site, actually) that there are other arenas where this is encouraged, but never to my knowledge at the NVMC.

No way shawn bates plays for this team again if we're really in some kind of mode where the team rebuilds from the bottom up and does it right. He's a decent skater but spends all his time injured and will never make it over the hump to be anything but mediocre to the core. I'm sure he's a great guy but he's dead weight and has got to go.

The effort put forth last night was hardly indicative of something to look forward to this year. For all the talk about "doing it right" and "nolan-type players" it sure looks like this team has a long way to go. From what I've read in the paper they are basically expecting to be at the bottom of the pack and hope to sneak in by overachieving. That, to me, is just more of the same very old story and is not really anything to get excited about.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: GRIT is for making sandpaper, SKILL scores goals and therefore wins games in this league.

Ryan;

That's not me but our famous imposter.

LOL

Looks like I've royally gotten into the spammers head.

Rag contraction - whatever that means ???

As big of an Islander fan as I am... let's not take a preseason win over Montreal too seriously.... sounds kinda weak dude.

DOC

I like the lunch-pail approach of Nolan, and the Isles will surprise people again this year. But this team lacks in talent, plain and simple. Talent as in offense. They are a Dany Heatley and a Dion Phaneuf away from being s second round playoff team. They have so many players that are the same -- Park, Bates, Hilbert and Bergenheim can be quintuplets.

About this rag contraction thing, I mean, I understand theres an effort being made to have things run a bit more civilly here, which is great because it will (dare I get my hopes up) foster more intelligent discussion about hockey and cut out some of the garbage. I despise the rangers as much as anyone but suggesting that an original six team be folded, with extreme frequency and in capital letters, is promoting an idea which is asinine at best and just ends up being inflammatory and perpetuating the exchange of garbage here. So do us a favor pal, drop the whole "rag contraction" thing its really old and tired and isn't advancing the conversation.

There are things I'm seeing in this preseason that's enough to get me excited. Like the fact that this team finally looks like it has a mean streak.

Of course they have what ammounts to three points in three games so looking at that it doesn't appear so good. OTOH Nolan is using this preseason to throw some mud at the wall to see what sticks.

I'm really impressed with Sutton, Comeau, Vasicek, Guerin, Spiller, Campolli and Comrie. This team really does look better than last years team.

You are an embarrassment. Please stop posting here. Failing that at least be intelligent enough to turn caps lock off.

I'm disappointed that the league will be changing the scheduling format next season. We need all the home games against the Rangers we can get. We always sell those games out. Now we will be playing Minnesota or someone before 5,000. It's a shame. WE NEED THOSE RANGER GAMES.

my concern now is that i hope these lines are not set in stone. this is how it should look:

bergie-comrie-guerin
tamby-vasicek-satan
tanker-silly-hunter
sim-park-simon
sorry hilbert, you play the 5 games simon is suspended 4...

what can bergie do on the 4th line as penciled in? it is known he is now more of a player after last year in europe, what can be expected of him with park and simon? any other ideas?

a little AM ranjerk joke for ya.

Q: How many cup banners are hanging in the garden?

A: Only one b/c the other 3 got lost during the crusades.

hahahahaha, ranjerk fans

FEDETENKO- Don't like this player. IMO, without the Isles offer, he may have been invited to another camp on a tryout basis. Don' think there would have been much interest in him. Playoff scratch last season. Now the Isles give him a 65% raise. Geeeeez!

Do you think we will win out first playoff series since 1993 this season. You could say that we are kind of do to win one, no? Law of averages are in our favor.

We need to improve our attendance stature. The Isles offer 10 dollar seats. They have two for one deals. We need to show up this year. No excuses. We made the playoffs last season, yet we were 28th in attendance. Not good.

Garth Snow blamed in his inability to land quaility FA's on the conditions of the Coliseum. He was forced to overpay for C level prospects like Comrie and Guerin who came here strictly for the money. Any news on a new Coliseum?

Chris... the problem with building a new Coliseum is twofold. First, the costs. Second, Nassau County does not deem the Isles as a necessity. The elected officials see the lack of interest. They notice that the Islanders finish last or so in attendance on a regular basis. Quite frankly, they see the Isles as a waste of money. And who can blame them? We need to show up this year and prove them wrong.

Adam, I agree with you. THis year, we all need to show up at the Coliseum. We should not have to rely on Ranger fans for the 3 or so sellouts we have a year. I went to the playoff games last season, and there were empty seats all over the place. Yet they announce a sellout. Go figure. We need to sellout 20 or so games this season, or I can't blame Nassau County for deeming us irrelevant.

Greg:

In your article, you say that there were no power play goals, but newyorkislanders.com lists Jon Sim's first goal as being on the power play.

Caesar:

Ah, ok. Still true that you used to be able to head down, though.

Chrios... I heart you dude. I plan on going to 10 games this season. And as we know, you can get into the Coliseum for 19 bucks. You buy the cheap seats, but then just move down and sit where ever you want, which is kind of sad. Those seats should be full with fannies. But the only time they are is when we play the Rangers.

Chris Adam: We will sellout games this season. Trust me. It's about time we save face and prove that we aren't the worst fans in the league. We aren't thw worst, but that's the perception we face.

Let's not beat the 'attendance' horse. The Islander fans will show up this season. And Ted will make sure the players do as well. I feel bad for Bates, but anyone who can't give the team 100%, can't play. It's the dawn of a new season and a new era for the Islanders. Let's see what develops.

I see what you guys are saying. I checked out last year's attendance and just the Hawks and Blues (two non playoff team) finished below us. We weren't even in the teens in attendance and we made the playoffs. What the heck?? And if you take away the Ranger games, we very might well have finished dead last. We really need to improve on this or we don't deserve a team.

Rag Contraction:

I am an Islander fan and would love to think that MSG was having ticket sale issues, but that just is not the case. I just heard on XM 204 that the Rangers have a 14,000 waiting list for season ticket sales. Maybe alot of the corporate suits don't show up for the games all the time, but the tickets are sold.

3-1 win last night. Once we got some regulars in their we played a little better. Preseaon records mean nothing, and don't be too concerned with the overall play as Nolan is trying to see what players are going to make the team and what lines seem to be clicking. If we look like garbage on ice two weeks into the season then you can start worrying, for now pay attention to who might make the team and where they are going to play. By the way, DP no goals allowed in two periods of play...not too shabby.

Yeah, preseason wins and losses mean nothing. They are only good for coaches to try out different things (lines/strats...etc.), and to acess new and returning players in real games to (hopefully) create good line combo's for the upcoming season. No teams are playing all the guys they will start the season with, including us.

So you cant read into anything in preseason, except individual effort and skill.

Greg,

Thanks for the update on Shawn Bates, I'm a big fan of his. Hopefully, this will not end his career and he can work through it. Hope to see him playing soon!

Kristie

Rag Contraction=Norman Bates. It's too bad, a lot of Islanders fans that I chat with on hockey boards are some of the most knowledgable and passionate fans around. H/she whoever this person is, really puts you guys in a bad light.

Was at the game last night in Moncton, New Brunswick. First off, Moncton LOVES Ted Nolan. The game was a complete sellout -- Standing Room Only, and in a town where they take Fire Codes pretty seriously, that's an accomplishment.

My comments are those of a fan in the building, and I did not see replays or slo motion analysis, so I will give my impressions FWIW.

First period was a good one for the Isles. They seemed to have a lot of jump. It is important to remember that the Canadiens did not play most of their top players, so the competition wasn't what it would normally be. It was also a pre-season game, so the intensity wasn't what you might expect from the team in the regular season.

Islandsers outshot Montreal, I think, 17-9 in the first and got a couple of down low, banger type goals from Jon Sim. At least one, Huet would like to have back. They weren't pretty, but they count. The third goal, by Guerin was a pretty one. Comrie made a nice pass and Guerin toe dragged the puck to get by a guy and rifled a shot that beat Huet cleanly.

DiP played well, but really wasn't tested much.

Second and third periods weren't as great as the first, as the Habs fought back, DiP played well in the second period. Doobie was fabulous in the third, making couple of really nice saves with the glove hand. He couldn't be faulted on the goal, as the defense backed in too much and gave up a clean shot from the high slot.

Who was I impressed with?

Andy Sutton -- Man, is he big! He doesn't move like MAB, but he HURTS people. More than one Montreal rookie headed to the bench slowly after tangling with Sutton in the corner.

Brian Berard -- Played a solid game, not flashy but very, very, competent. He looked good.

MAB -- Played very well, I thought.

Bill Guerin -- Looked smooth and good. Nice finish on the set up by Comrie and played well on the PK (and there was a lot of PK)

Mike Comrie -- Wins a lot of faceoffs. Nice set up to Guerin. Not very big.

Richard Park -- Man, is he quick.

Trent Hunter -- This is the first time I've seen him live. He is much much bigger than I ever gave him credit for.

DiP -- As noted, played well, even if not pushed hard.

Doobie -- Made some real nice saves to keep the lead, when the Habs were pressing in the third.

Miro Satan -- Was all over the ice, and this is a complement, not a comment on his positional play.

Dwyer/Gaudet/Jackman -- As a line were fun to watch as long as the puck was in the other end, because they were banging and smashing. Showed some speed, but took a few offensive zone penalties that were certainly not needed. Jackman's fight with Murray was a good, if short, tilt. Close to a draw, but probably went to Murray on points.

Funniest monent in the game was in the third, when Komisarek took down Witt after the whistle. Witt got up to take exception as Komisarek was skating away to the bench. Murray came over to Witt and, it seemed, challenged. Witt shrugged him off, as if to say "Go away boy, you bother me".

Not terribly impressed with:

Fedotenko -- Was not a force

Had fun. Got interviewed by the CBC during intermission (there weren't any other fishstick jerseys walking around), Have reached the conclusion that this team is not as bad as many think. It will compete night in and nioght ouot, and we can't ask for any more than that, now can we?

GO ISLES!!!

Some observations:

-Didn't look too shabby in the 3-1 win last night. It was nice to see the games online (hook your CPU into a larger TV and the viewing box isn't so small). I am surprised that I am even saying this but I could live with and even begin to like the new jerseys. They look much nicer in action as opposed to just hanging in a locker. Sure I wish the upper orange on the sleeve was changed to blue but at present its not so bad.

-I know he posts some crazy stuff but RAG CONTRACTION's last post was even more crazy than usual, I think he's been hijacked.

- Something is a little off about "Jon" "Ray" "Adam"'s conversation above attendance. I can understand some self depreciating humor but this is a bit much...is it the return of #1 #2 etc imposters, just dressed up a little nicer?

Hey guys, took the summer off due to all the trolling and lack of news, but I'm back and hungry for some hockey.

I think the new additions from Snow will improve the team a bit more than people think, though like many here I love all the dogpiling on the Islanders at this time of year. However, I was wondering if anyone noticed what EJ Hradek wrote on his "better or worse" feature on espn.com. The Islanders are featured today, and he finally took an honest look at the organization and believes we have more talent now than last year. However, he thinks that we'll miss the playoffs due to the vast improvement of other teams.

I'm still not sold on a few of those additions (such as the Rangers swapping Nylander for Gomez - though Drury will be an ace and then some for them, and Philly bringing in people like Hartnell and Timonen who are talented but have either never won anything or not lived up to potential). The Pens are the only team in the division that legitimately scare me, though any team with Brodeur in net will always have a shot to go far.

I like that Hradek broke the trend and has an even-handed assessment of our team. Check it out; let me know what you think.

Kristie~

I met Batesy on a golf couse in Lynnfield MA. He is a good friend of one of my friends M. Boyle. He is a tremendous guy (lousy golfer :)) M. Boyle was his strength and conditioning coach at B.U! Says he works harder then any player in the locker room. He is originally from Stonham Ma., which is a few towns from me.

One good thing about moving to MA. is it is the hockey meca in the North East! Red sox and Pats fans are BEYOND annoying. Makes me as a Mets fan root for the Yanks. For that to happen, you can imagine how annoying they are :) !!!

MSG sounds like my kind of place!

See that? Even OJ won't buy a ticket to an Islanders game :(

Lundqvist has been nominated for the Vezina in both of his first 2 seasons with the Rangers. How many times has DiPietro been nominated for the vezina rag contraction?

lmao thought so

???

Why are the Islanders GIVING AWAY tickets to opening night? GIVING AWAY opening night tickets in Newsday and Islanders.com. Opening night and no sellout? Yea, real support. Great fans.

Sad, very, very Sad.

Nova Scotia Isles Fan:

Thanks for the update on the Habs game. And keep posting during the regular season to give us the "north of the border" perspective.

I'm worried what I'm reading about in Fedetenko. The guy has had a bad rap as a no-show in the past. I'd hope he'd be doing his best to lose that rep in the training camp of his brand new team. I expected to read good things in the effort department. I'm still waiting.

Steady - about the abnoxious Sox fans... had to love the 8th inning grand salami that Papel-putz gave up last night. Don't have to love the Yanks to smile about that one.

Whoops... The 1:02 PM comment was me.

Cincy, I'm interested to hear where you heard a lot of that reputation stuff about Fedotenko. When Tampa won the Cup everyone was talking what a clutch performer he was, and as an outside observer (on my friend's Center Ice package) it seemed to be more an issue of playing time than actual attitude.

Also, I was definitely happy to see Papelbon show once again why he's not Mo. Tito and the Red Sox are hitting the Panic button lately.

What the hey is in that chowda that would make you do such a thing?

Nova Scotia:

Thanks for the post. I wish Logan would post like that, he didn't even realize that the Isles scored a powerplay goal last night. Before I get burned on that comment; did they score a powerplay goal? It said so on islanders.com.

I'm from Florida and from what I have heard from Lightning fans is that Fedetenko and their coach did not see eye to eye and that he fell out of favor over there. He was in more of a support role then he was the year they won the cup. The year they won the cup he was a BIG time contributor. I hope he finds his way on our team, didn't sound like it though from the Nova Scotia post.

Yanks vs. Red Sox: Great rivalry
Jets vs. Pats: Great rivalry
Isles vs. Bruins: Not happening? What's up with that? Do the Rangers have a rivalry at all with the Bruins? Seems weird that the NY Boston rivalry works in all sports except hockey.

If we play good defense, play a physical style of hockey and get good goaltending we will make the playoffs this year. The Devils have played that brand of hockey for years and it works. Good defense more times then not beats a good offense. Just look at how the Ducks beat the Senators this year. They phsically dominated them and punished their forwards. JS made the big saves and they had a balanced offense. I'm not making a comparison to the Ducks at all, I am just stating that style of play is effective.

For all Islander fans ripping the signing of Scott Gomez, 13 goals last year- correct. The previous year- 33, but more importantly, in the last 3 years only 9 players have more assists than he does. He was brought in the center Jagr, & will undoubtedly have more assists than an Islander

Good article!

Nick - What 'Coral Springs' says is correct. Tank fell out of favor with Tortorella. In fact, he was benched in the playoffs last year. Almost sounds like Tank put out when the going was good, but maybe lost interest when Tampa began to struggle post lock-out. And that's the point. The Isles have a challenge this year. And it won't be easy, nor will it always be pretty. There WILL be tough stretches. We want players that rise to the occasion when needed. I hope Tank can do that.

Broadway - let's see... 10th in ASSISTS the last 3 years combined equates to 7.4 million per year over 7 years. Umm.., OK.

Rag Contraction is right on! Tell it like it is RC.
The Ranger fanbase is a shell of what it appears to be. MSG, Radio City,Its just entertainment. Its no different than a Broadway show. Get some big names and people will come. Show sucks, so what, the money is in the bank. Ranger history is a joke, fans are fools. Isles will dominate soft, pampered Rangers again.

No More Corporate welfare!!
Close The Garden!!
No New MSG!!
Rangers To CAA!!

Turn from hunted into hunter, gonna hunt somebody down. This is home, this is Mean Streets....

Slick Willy
are you still posting your garabage and trolling this site.
Who wants to take a bet that if the Rags start at the bottom of division we don't see any more posting from Slick Willy, #1, and Reality Check,

I hope that article was for real. Sounds like a team with not too much finesse, but plenty of grit and capable of playing some DIRTY hockey. Glad to see some actual hockey talk here...besides tha last few hours. Can't wait for the pucks to drop so I can see this team get filthy!!!!!peace I'm out

Section 109: I think the fans will show up because I believe the marketing will work. I can't guarantee they won't have a slow start, but honestly, this is a team with too much to prove. I think they'll work for it. Just an opinion, but I believe that if they leave it all on the ice, the fans will come.

Highly touted Robert Nilsson looked very much at home in his Oilers debut, playing on a line with Jarret Stoll and Raffi Torres, where's he's favoured to start the season. - Edmonton Sun

Lemme guess. "Rag Contraction" is "NYI" from the Hockeybuzz boards?

Midnight Marrauder is a decent dude. He's really cool for a Rags fan. "NYI" on the other hand is a petulant brat. I thought it was funny when he picked a fight with B.D and called out for posting under two ID's.

Anyways.

Looks like the Islanders are going to be much better than that last place finish everyone has them penciled in for. I like the look of this team as opposed to the slow smallish forwards of Blake, Parrish, and Bates from teams past.

They look to have some size and muscle.

Rag contraction you are being called out all over the internet for being a pathetic blog trolling destroyer with 10 comments you post over and over again.

Take a look around the other Rangers & Islanders Blogs. The other newspapers blogs. Just take a look around everyone.

Islanders fans and Rangers fans alike need to eat this guy alive!

You sit here and talk about trolls but that is all you do all day long, all hours and all over the place.

Really its pretty sad. Rivalry is fun but you got problems.

Why do we both need to eat him alive?

For the most part I could care less. Besides, it's not like the Rangers aren't well represented with spammers to this blog either.

I'll just keep on keepin on.

Everybody. Here is the emails of Steve Zipay and Greg Logan.

Spam them until they take action on this RAG CONTRACTION clown. Is it that hard for the people at Newsday to see how this guy ruins both blogs?

Copy, Paste and email a complaint every time this guy posts.

Was at the game last night in Moncton, New Brunswick. First off, Moncton LOVES Ted Nolan. The game was...

hey nova, good report. keep going.

I think that's just as pathetic.

sorry, but I have a life. If I'm going to email those guys it's going to be hockey related. I'm not going to waste my time complaining about some loser spammer.

Besides, I'm a strong believer in free speech. You have to be willing to toerate the speech you don't like.

please. RC's an embarrasment
to us. Enough so that I wish he was a Rag fan. He spouts insults and blatant inaccuracies constantly. Yeah, just what this blog needs (sarc)

Nothing wrong with excersizing our right to protest is there Chickendirt?

If I'm going to protest something I'm not going to waste time doing it on an internet spammer. What the spammers post only has as much power as you're willing to give it.

Seriously.

Get a life.

So your answer would be yes then - are you in fact RAG CONTRACTION or just a nazi?

NYI=Rag Contraction and god knows how many other aliases you post under, if you're going to insult me, atleast spell the name right. I mean really. Thanks Chickendirt, I love talking to Isles fans, most of you know hockey really well. Most of you, there are some exceptions, but hwy name names, right NYI??

Great here I go making fun of him for misspelling and I can't even spell why right, hahaha. Oh well, he's still psychotic, whether I can spell simple words or not.

Ahhh give RC a break, he probably still rocks a mullet and listens to Huey Lewis & the News. Timewarp, anyone? C'mon, it's just a step to the left.......

ChickenDirt?!

This RAG joke has created himself a friend to feel heard and part of a group.

This is good.
Very entertaining your right. But, if you want things cleaned up around here and less impostors and BS that starts with RAG.

All you of you. ChickenDirt , RAG and whoever go back to your hockey god Eklund and stop trashing every blog you find on google.

I'll return the favor, CD. People don't lump Chicken with Rag. 'Dirt is a good hockey fan, never had a problem with him. The only person that needs to stop coming here is Contraction.

Midnight-This clown has trashed this place for a long time now. Not many Isles fans here can stand him. You and DirtySanchez come in here for two days and don't know a damn thing except for he is the same idiot ruinging these blogs, Eklunds (as if they need ruining, guys a joke), Daily News and etc.

So when you don't know what goes on here. How much he trolls both boards spewing the nonsense of a two year old. I really don't care much about what ChickenDirt has to add when defending this moron. Let them meet up on a D&D board and talk about dragons and spells.

I post under this same ID on Hockeybuzz. Some folks that post here know who I am over there.

They'll be the first to tell you I ain't him.

Secondly, from what I've seen on these boards, Rangers fans get a much kinder reception on the Islanders Blogs that Islanders fans on the Rangers Blogs. As a whole, the regular posters here are a lot more tolerant as a group.

From what I see, it's only one Isles fan giving you grief. He pretty much counters the Rag spammer in kind. As I see it, Rag contraction doesn't spend half the time on the Rangers Blog as the Rag Spammer does here.

Overall, I find both of them to be complete bores. With that said, I'm done with this subject and have already spent more time on it than it deserves.

Why all the talk about Rag Contractions? He normally posts a few times a day, and all in caps. Very easy to skip past his stuff. He isn't the problem on this blog.

This guy is:

Yes they do get kinder reception here because they approach with Hockey talk and the right attitude looking to talk hockey. This board is always busier because of that. The Isles fans that do go to the Rangers board are usually RAG and his twelve screen names talking the same old trash over and over and over and over again. The group here is mixed.

Again you defend this clown. Now go back further then the half a day you have been here. He trolls at 7am, 12pm, 3pm, 3:15pm, 6pm, 10pm, 1am, 3am, 4am and etc. On both boards.

You, on the other hand have worn out your welcome just about everywhere it seems, so the name changes are understandable. Calling me out as being your type of psycho further proves that you know
