Forwards Miroslav Satan and Richard Zednik both were excused from the Islanders’ game against Philadelphia this afternoon at Wachovia Center for family-related personal reasons. Jeff Tambellini was recalled from Bridgeport to replace Satan last night, but when Zednik had to leave this morning, it was too late to bring in a replacement, leaving the Isles with 11 forwards.
Tambellini and Richard Park will be the extras that coach Ted Nolan mixes in, and Arron Asham will take Satan’s place on a line with Viktor Kozlov and Alexei Yashin. An Islanders spokesman said the team is hopeful Satan will return to meet the Rangers tomorrow afternoon at the Coliseum. Zednik’s return is uncertain.
Speaking of Satan and Zednik before the game, Nolan said, “We’re a family-oriented team, and both guys are where they should be.”

Super...what else can go wrong?
I don't like the sounds of this... what happened?
I don't like the sounds of this... what could have happened?
What did their wives run off together or what??? How can you leave your team NOW ???? Something is fishy as usual !!! Both cannot of had personal issues.....
We lose today and tomorrow means NOTHING !!!
i had nothing to do with it..sniff
Nice Win!! Scrappy as usual!! LETS GO ISLANDERS!!
Tommorow is HUGE!! Stupid B's blow up again!!
Bruins are the horrible....Figures that is where Milbury learned his hockey! They we're on the PP the whole game including OT !
I hope all is okay with the Satan and Zednik families. Sure it's an important time of year in hockey, but family comes first.
BIG WIN! Hey Newsday, enough with the stupid pop up ads all over your sports page.
HUGE WIN!
Let's kick some smelly rag butt tomorrow, Isles! Hopefully Miro and Zeddy are back in the line-up and although we need contributions from guys like Hilbert and Park, I want to see Kozlov pick up another four goals!
...although Id much rather see Yash put four biscuits in the net, that will be the day Milbury leaves this organization.
A fun time in Philly today and although there were not many Islander fans, the Flyer fans were resigned to a lousy season and well- behaved.
I only write tonight to give credit to Yashin where it is due. It may not have looked like much, but he battled Hatcher pound for pound behind the net, preventing a clear, and setting up the sequence leading to Blake's tying goal late in the second. While it's true the Flyers had a subsequent chance to clear and failed, Yashin's play started a process for a long shift by the Flyers that totally broke down into an Islanders goal.
Those are some of the little things that win hockey games--and while I would not keep him next year, he deserves credit and recognition for that effort.
So frustrated with NHL Radio. It was cutting out so bad I never heard a single goal!!!!
If the NHL wants fans, quite signing television contracts that cut out half the population. My money's sitting on the table, just take it.
Anyway, glad the Ilses pulled it out. Tomorrows game is on NBC and I will get to watch.
Keep it rollin!
Kevin T.
Very classy of you Kevin T...can you explain how a skeleton can skate??...
Sorry skeletor, that went over my head.
great win!
keep the grit and passion going!!
love bergeron and his gunslinger mentality - yes he gets burned a few times a game, then he seems to get angry and makes a big play...
bad defensive relapse on philly's second goal - witt and meyer playing hot potato with the puck around the boards...witt was horrible-reaching for and missing an easy puck, then after absorbing a clean hit acting like an idiot with cote and ignoring the play...
poti and hunter have been TREMENDOUS!!
why not more ice time for tambellini!!
beat the rags!!
I want to see the big apology...
What a joke that the media would make that one of the big stories heading into a game like todays.
Should be a good one though, hopefully alot of heart and passion from both clubs. As long as everyone remembers what hockey sticks are used for it should be pretty physical but, no criminal acts on the ice.
Rangers in Shoot Out.
LETS GO RANGERS!!!
I read about a club fire in Moscow that killed 10 people. Anybody know why Satan and Zednik are out for personal reasons?
I'm not sure why they're out, but they're not Russian ...
Solid game, big win for us. Resigning Ryan Smith is a must. We have not had a player like this since Brian Trots. Strong player thats hard to knock off the puck. Great vision sees the whole ice. will only get better as he get comfortable with his linemates.
need to win in regulation tonight.
anybody see hollweg's hit from behind?seems like that's his m.o. somebody in the league needs to clean his clock.
only way hollweg can be effective is hit from behind...ricky has as many points as that guy this year...lol
i eat my words. lundquist is decent as sh*t. but he needs to leard to play the puck better. dp is just as good but is like a futbol goalie... he is legit at starting breakouts. good first period... dirty hockey... i love it. the keepers are definitely the difference. should be a good one. i'm out... lets beat some rag-fag a**.
WHY IS CAMPOLI ON THIS TEAM.....Again costs us by flintching behind the net to give up the puck to Orr....Guy is simply HORRIBLE!
p.s Why does it say KOHO accross Holwigs face????
A great win by the Rangers at the mausoleum. Excellent to see "Purse Boy" Poti leaving Nylander all alone in front for the winning goal.
You guys have got to be kidding me! You wish you had a Hollweg. Damn, at this point you wish you had a Orr!
So, no crying about the goal that got waved off? I thought for sure you would be running wild about that one. You know, the NHL is out to screw you type stuff.
Talk about horrible calls the one on Mailk in the final minutes? Yea, that happened all game! So when you try to say the NHL is out to help the Rangers make the playoffs...
Just remember that playoff teams find ways to win todays game!
WWWOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
6th Place Rangers!
SEASONS OVER!!!
SEASONS OVER!!!
SEASONS OVER!!!
Steady, Whats up pal? How you doing?
The reason it says KOHO on his face is the same reason it says Easton, CCM and Mission!
BECAUSE HE DOESN'T WEAR A SKIRT LIKE POTI, DIM WITT and OVER THE HILL!
Hill nor Witt would drop the gloves with Avery? Come one have a little heart, he's half your size!
Oh look who is back...DP...Where you been all week?? That is what I thought....TYPICAL RANGER FAN who only chirps when they win...Then cowars when they choke as they have done 10 years in a row!!!
You obviuosly know ZERO about hockey to put down Poti...HE has been phenominal this year and your OWN COACH said he wished he still had him.
Avery has NEVER fought in his life...Witt would crush him...When Asham called him out he COWARD AS USUAL !!!
You are a typicl Ranger fan that is on his 10th year without seeing a playoff win...I feel bad for you having the highest payroll for 10years and NEVER WINNING ANYTHING...
p.s Why does it say KOHO on Hollwigs greasy face?
p.p.s Shanny is done !! Skates areound like a lost sole out there..Still hears bells in his head..RETIRE OLD MAN !!! Only good on the pp where he does not have to man up....
Good effort guys. We could have had two points with a little more luck. Looks like Flynn is destined for employment elswhere, once again he over uses his short bench and once again (this time Hill) one of them is too tired.
Duhhhhhhh which way do I shoot the puck?? duhhhhhh which way do I shoot it guys duhhhhhhhh
Good news is Yashin played great......That line with he and Satan has played well of late.....We may be on life support but we aint dead yet.....Big game against the Devils on Tuesday then on to Buffalo.....
That was a big point today although we needed two....
Campoli is useless I must say!
YOU GOTTA BE PUCKING KIDDING ME CALLING THAT BULL S**T PENALITY IN OT!!!!!!!!i was sitting right next where the "penality" suppositly happened...these reffs official suck!!!!something has to be done about them...@least we got a point b4 the reffs really screwed us over
just got back from the game and there is no way in hell you can call that a penality...these reffs offical suck!!!
ditto MiaOnaRH...
great effort by all...needed 2 pts., got 1 - all is not lost...
we need to beat the devils, who are resting key players...maybe we will see clemenson in net...
it was a penalty against hill - he was too tired to keep up with jagr...
and there goes the game...
huge games ahead - isles have been stepping up - fans (myself included) need to get to the game tuesday and scream their lungs out -
LET'S GO ISLANDERS!!
it wasnt a penalty on hill..it was a ridiculous call and once again the broadway criminals get the benefit from the referees and the nhl..i want to puke..just spent the last hour after leaving the coliseum trying to scrub the stench of skank ranger fans off of me....and hey rags fans you got some real heffers for fans...product of inbreeding i guess...go f yourselves rag fans post on your own blog.....hey dolan make me gm already....sniff
I'll be interested in hearing Coach Nolan's logic for taking that TO when the Rangers had been denied a line change and Jagr was clearly gassed.
i jus watched the replay 10x's and still dont see how u can call that a penality!?!?! figures that the refs screw the isles over again
Steady,
You sound bitter again. I thought we left off pretty good the other day? lol
OK, Poti. I said it here earlier today he has come around for the Islanders. And when Tom Poti is one of your best looking defenseman you got bigger issues.
Avery clearly challenged Hill today. You could see what he was saying on the TV. So why is it that like Avery said, all the wanna be tough guys wear visors. I honeslty think that Avery would get his head handed to him just like Hollweg would if either dropped the gloves with Asham or Witt. The difference is that Hollweg and Avery will drop them and they don't care. That is what I give them credit for.
10 yrs this 10 yrs that. In all honesty how many people here actually can remember the last cup the Fishsticks won? Not by watching video tape. Not sitting there with their father watching the game? Truth of the matter is that the Rangers today have many more fans that can actual recall when they last won the cup. Like the kid that posted here the other day that is 16 yrs old. Thats 91...
LETS GO RANGERS, 1 of the 2 NY playoff bound teams.
Keep watching those replays!
Still lost!
I was at the game today. Frustrating.
First, we didn't win because our powerplay was off today. How can we not score on a 5 on 3? Why have we become predictable, always feeding the puck to MAB? Why don't we shoot more, especially when someone's in front of the net.
But, the reason we _lost_ is that horrible call on Hill. He barely touched that Ranger. Come on, one suffers more jostling riding the subway every morning. No bad call, no undeserved powerplay. No undeserved powerplay, no goal (though I am also disappointed we didn't cover the front of the net better).
I haven't seen replays of the goal-that-wasn't, except for those up on the big board at NVMC, so I can't complain about that yet.
horrible call!!
(baloney)
stick between the legs they call it every time.. Orr earlier in the game stick between the leg...that is a penalty in the new NHL.....
Amazing that Ranger fans think that the Islanders will not make the playoffs when they are tied for the 8th seed and have games in hand on alot of teams. We still have work to do here, a win over NJ this week will be huge.
DP ~
First of all my pal of pals if you truly know your hockey you know that Averys job is to try and get our best defenseman to fight him so they are off the ice for 5 minutes...Hill and Witt are to smart for that...Why won't he challenge Asahm...Case closed the guy is punk and hits defensless goalies and as for greasy Hollwig all he can do is hit from behind...He is useless and has KOHO accross his forehead for life....
Oh and AVery is YET to fight since being a Ranger so enough of your chirpping how he will fight for his team...He is gutless and called the best goalie of our generation (Brodeur) names like a CHILD...True players take care of it on the ice NOT in the media!
As for Poti ~ Please tell me a Rag on defense that is better ??? Let me help you~ you currently don't have one !!!
We are currently tied for 8th and only need to make up ONE POINT on you in the next week before we play again...With a win next Tuesday you will be the same place you have been for the Past 9 3/4 years...Golfing in smelly NJ !!!
DP played great, except for the orr goal. unfortunately in a 2-1 game thats killer. the difference today was a good goalie against a great goalie, and great will always win. things can change in a hurry though and ricky still has the chance to be great, when he stops letting guys like orr or ben eager put in soft goals. we'll see the rags in the 2nd round and kick butt
OK, friend of mine!
Here is a link to a fight with Avery and if you knew your hockey (thats a good insult there) you can tell me what jersey he is wearing and no it's not a conspiracy I didn't edit the video to screw you an islander fan.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yG8lCTGOzvU
Poti has gotten good and plays much better but, you are a typical Isles fan to start talking like he is the best defenseman in the league. He could not handle playing for the Rags. Tytuin much better, Mara some what better...
So let me take my lack of knowledge and lay this down for you.
Ranagers:
Tues: vs. Montreal at least one point
Sat: vs. Philly 2 points
Sun: vs. Toronto 2points
Tues: vs. Fishstick Pumpkin crew 2pts
So thats 4 games 7 points.
Islanders:
Tues: vs. Devils HAHAHAHA 0
Fri: vs. Buffalo My sides hurt! 0
Sat: vs. Ottawa I'm loving looking at this 0
Tues: vs Rangers Alot to prove but not 2, 1 point.
So I am not figuring out the rest but that basically spells SEASON OVER!!!
Rangers continue to hold on to 6th and you hang your head in shame...Come in here crying about a big letdown, Fire Nolan, Wang sucks, Snow is no GM, trade Smyth and Blake and the list goes on.
The balloon was popped today. We are going to the playoffs because our toughest opponents from here on out are the Islanders once more and Pitts. Thats it, you get Philly once more which shouls be two points but, that won't cut it.
The Islanders were 1 for 9 on the PP today in 17:40 of PP time. Against the Flyers they were 1 for 6 in 11:48 time. The game against the Pens they were 1 for 4 in 6:51. To win hockey games you have to score on the PP. I don't know what game you were watching but Hill clearly had a penalty. Even Sneaky Pete agrees in this blog. You guys are blaming the refs as an excuse for your team's inability to score on the PP and win key games on the line! Not much time left boys!
Let's see. Tuesday against Marty Brodeur and Co. Devils fighting it out with the Penguins for the Atlantic Division. Friday, at Buffalo shooting for the President's Cup. Saturday, Ottawa in town trying to keep the Home ice advantage and the #4 seed. I don't even know if you guys can get even three total points against those three teams! Could be a real tough week for you guys!
Oh if you're watching dollars, the "current" team payroll for the Rangers is approx. $37.8M not including Kaspiritus and Ogilish. The "current" team payroll for the Islanders with the additon of Ryan Smyth and Zednik is approx. $42.5M! For the record, the Rangers are third in the NHL behind the Devils and Calgary, but that's including Kaspiritus and Ogilish. Then who cares! The Yankees have the highest in the American League and the Mets have the highest in the National League. The Yanks pay a revenue tax because they are over the salary cap. Do you think Mr. Steinbrenner gives a s**t! If you have the money, spend it!!! I'm sure if you have the money you would rather buy a Jaguar than a Hugo! The Rangers have American Express and other great sponsors! Who do Isles have! Chuck-E Cheese, the official restaurant of the New York Islanders!
p.s. Why is it the Islanders were walking out of the coliseum today holding bags that said CALLAWAY on them and not KOHO?
SEASONS OVER!!!
SEASONS OVER!!!
SEASONS OVER!!!
PotvinSux,
Chuck-E-Cheese is good, but you forgot the OFFICIAL restaurant:
Long-John Silvers.
FIIIIISHSTIIIIIICKS!!!
And yes, it was the refs fault that you guys couldn't score on all those powerplays. I suppose they made Lundqvist's net smaller too.
I KNEW SOMETHING WAS UP WITH HIS NET!!!!
the great thing about hating the rangers is that no matter how good they look, they ALWAYS lose their last game of the year, except for 1 year when that bald dork messier and all the remnence of the oiler dynasty got lucky. it will be the same this year.its nice that the rag fans are so optimistic now so that it will sting more later
funny how the ranger fans come out of hiding now. wow - you mean the rags are actually winning? Avery is a p***y - he's the kind of guy that taunts but never drops 'em - Asham challenged, Avery cowered. Either that, or he goes after smaller guys, like Blake.
And anyone that knows anything about hockey is that the Ranger's defense is their greatest liability. Season's not over yet - would love to see a Ranger meltdown. And they're just the team to do it too!
the islander offense is too predictable right now - too much cycling along the boards and perimeter passing, not enough crashing the net..
watch how the islanders enter the offensive zone - in the neutral zone, the player with the puck is indecisive or slowing down as he gets closer to the o-zone blue line..puck is dumped or passed up the boards...even when hunter or smyth digs out the puck, NO ONE is crashing the net for a pass - and around the boards it goes - either to the point or reverse direction - D man/ backchecker is waiting to intercept...predictable
only a few islanders (blake, sometimes robitaille, or MAB: see hilbert's philly goal) can rush the puck and turn the opposing d-men around...
other teams recognize this and keep it simple on defense... press the boards, take the body and wear down the smaller (blake, RR, hilbert), older (sillinger) and softer (yashin, kozlov, satan) forwards...
in the course of any game -how many shots do the islanders take from the slot? even on the PP - no forwards set up in the slot or circles - yashin/satan/blake all set up too low or too close to the boards..no weak side or cross ice passing at all...
i understand that nolan has to work with what he has...and the nolan game plan is to score 2-3 goals, outplay the opposition 5 on 5, stay out of the box and let DP save the game...
our lack of skill/speed has finally caught up to us...and we are getting shut down offensively...
we outplayed the rangers today - and had plenty of opportunities to score on the PP - but the perimeter game is not generating enough scoring opportunites...did anyone actually think that we would score against lundqist from 40 feet away and only smyth in front?
enough crying about the refs - the penalties we take are because our team is TOO SLOW!!!
we had our chances today and blew it...
Greg-
Please write another entry so I don't have to read this name calling blather any more.
1) As noted above, the Isles lost because they went 1-9 on the PP. They have fallen in love with Bergeron's shot from the point and especially on the 5-3, did nothing to get the Rags moving from side-to-side. They're so in love with this that Poti's giveaway for the breakaway could have been anticipated 20 miles away.
2) Great goatending wins and Lundqvist was a notch better than DP. Orr's goal hurt a lot the way Lundqvist is playing.
3) You can't blame the refs. a) Evidently, the NHL caught on that Islander fans were about to expose their conspiracy--so they had a meeting on Friday and decided to give us a decided PP advantage over the entire weekend with 4 PP's int he first period yesterday and several more today. B) Hill's play was right and front of me and while I have not had the luxury of multiple reviews, it seemed to me that if he wasn't called for hooking, he should have been called for holding. What ticked me off was that Jagr was spent on his shift and could not even outrace Smyth. There was no need for Hill to do much of anything on him and I think we could have cleared the zone without any harm.
4) Either team could have won this game--just like the last one.
5) The schedule is against the Islanders compared to every other team. Philly is the only cupcake left and all other teams left for us are either playing for the playoffs, home-ice--or in the Devils' case, possibly the chance to open against the Rangers/Isles/Canes/Lightning/Leafs /Habs at home or on the road at Ottawa.
6) All of the Islanders OT losses are killing them because they are behind every other team in the critical tie-breaking category of wins. I also think they've lost seven games since January in the five minute OT while only winning one.
7) I thought if they got less than four points in the last three games, they'd be toast. They got five and are still in it. If nothing else, it makes having season tickets a lot more fun because these last few weeks have been great entertainment. And while I'm not happy about today's outcome, games like today are about as entertaining as they come and will keep bringing me back.
good points merrick...
6) OT is the harbinger of doom for the isles...our lack of speed (especially for our d-men) is clearly exposed 4v4.
7) it definately has been fun - especially since where this team has come from last summer until now...i'll take these results, (as painful as they are) anytime compared to what we had one year ago...
there is hope for tuesday...we have played the devils decently this year - we need to score goals by crashing brodeur!!
we also beat buffalo once this season...(trying to be optimistic here....)
expect a L vs. ottawa and a W vs. Philly...
great rematch vs. rangers, and montreal (huet not 100%) and toronto (out of gas) can be had...
it's DO or DIE!
LET'S GO ISLANDERS!!
Well said Sneaky Pete.
Also, Sean Hill is one our best options on the PP on the point. That says a lot!
What also concerns me most about the Isles is that while they put together a competitive team this year, the overwhelming majority of their players have to be considered on the downside of their years (Is Blake at the apex?). How likely is THIS group to improve next year, especially on the backline?
It's a difficult call for management to throw in the towel and rebuild--especially when the Isles draw like crap already, but I think guys like Tambellini, Nielson, Nokaleinen (forgive my spelling) are going to have to play here next year and be reasonably productive--while we figure out a way to shore up our depth at the point. The Martinek injury hurt, but he has always been vulnerable to injury and our Bridgeport cupboard on defense is totally bare.
Sneaky Pete, the "well-said" was for your prior post, but applies to your last one too.
Merrick,
1) Key point about number of wins that other teams have which the Isles don't. Carolina has 2 more wins, Rangers 3 more, Montreal 3 more, and Tampa 5. Tie breakers will not help the Islanders. They need to win in regulation and not give the teams in the hunt a single point getting to OT! They may have to pull DP for another skater even if they are tied in regulation against the Rangers or Toronto!
2) Another factoid! Carolina has three games against teams in the hunt, 2 with TB and another with Toronto. Obviously each of those games, one team comes out with two points! Toronto has Carolina, NYR, and Montreal. One of those teams in each game gets 2 pts! Montreal has NYR twice and the Leafs. One of those teams in each game gets 2 pts. Tampa and the Rangers have 2 key games not including the Islander matchup. Looking at the standings, I can't see the Isles making the playoffs unless they go 5-2 or better their last 7 games.
thanx merrick...
First period was the best period of hockey I've seen in a long while, and with no goals scored. Blake is fast, really fast! DP break-out passes working good.
I thought the penalty calls were pretty even. Just bad timing at the end on the OT call.
One of the Rangers fans above gave a back-handed comment, "Islanders are the best team we face".
Great game. Great Rilvary!

he's a pill popper as well.

I LOVE HOW THE RAGS FANS ARE TALKING ALL THIS S**T ABOUT HOW THE ISLES AREN'T GONNA MAKE THE PLAYOFFS WHEN THERE ONLY 3PTS AWAY FROM BEING OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS...MAN DO U A**HOLES MAKE ME LAUGH
Thats good you hate him so much you watch him on youtube. Say what you want and anybody here that has a clue will say that Avery was the Rangers best move this year. As well as getting rid of Ward which I am now convinced was the cancer of the locker room.
That dive on Jagr is great I couldn't help but laughing when I saw that replay the night it happened. He has been suspended for diving but, the guy is a hell of a player. He is the type of guy you hate unless he is wearing your jersey. Islanders have one of those for me. I can't stand Blake but if he was wearing a Rangers jersey next year i would love him.
As for Kevin T. I see you here all the time and I like what you have to say and this is no way an attack on you. If you were referring to what I said,
"We are going to the playoffs because our toughest opponents from here on out are the Islanders once more and Pitts."
I say that seriously because the teams always get up big and play each other.
Anyone can see that the Rangers, if they continue to play the way they have since the trade deadline have a much easier road then many including the Islanders.
MAN DO U RAG$ FAN MAKE ME LAUGH, UR ONLY 3PTS AWAY FROM BEING OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS AND UR TALKING ALL THIS S**T!!!WELL SEE WHO HAS THE LAST LAUGH IN A WK
i can't get enough, i love this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B53W-7tk4Uw
i can't get enough, i love this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovctX-t5N1U
DP for pres. yes I was referring to your comment. Your post jumped out at me. But I couldn't tell if you were really a Rags fan or not. You seemed too polite!
As for Avery. I can't say I like a player like that. But I can't stop watching him when he plays. I bet the Islanders could not help but be distracted by him either. Avery could kill a lot of dressing rooms, but for some reason it may be working for the Rangers.
No matter what, I can't cheer for the Rags because of what happenned in 94'.
Kevin T.
Why does Hollzig have KOHO on his head.....TO FUNNY...THAT LOSER WILL ALWAYS BE KNOWN AS THE GUY WHO GOT KNOCKED THE FU^* OUT !!!
How about 79~80 when we swept the Canucks in 4 games there Kevy ???
Don't hate the Rangers for 94 hate the Oilers....Rags went out and BOUGHT there whole team along with some others.....Wasn't a TRUE RANGER on the whole team....NOT ONE !!!
God 94.....IF that team was soooooooo good how come they only won one cup ??
Great game this afternoon. I'm kind of surprised that nobody has mentioned Hollweg's 5 min penalty against Boston for one of his trademark hits...that avery on vicadin thinks he gets "3 or 4 times a night". Another one under the radar was how Lundqvist(who was absolutely terrific) was able to stop a shot, and hold the puck in his mask until the whistle blew. I assume it was in his mask because that was the only part of his body that didn't cross the goal line... amazing.
All that considered, both teams played an incredible game. Very entertaining. If the Isles are able to get into the post season with what they have in front of them they surely will have accomplished something. Not that they haven't already.
The Isles left everything out on the ice. That's all you can really ask.
PLEASE DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PP. The PP has been great since they got MAB and Smyth. Why not be in love with that... they ran into an incredibly hot goalie. END OF STORY.
93 points... still doable.
They are already leaps and bounds better than last year's squad. Nolan has proven that he can be affective. Snow has done some great things. I am a happy Isle fan... even in defeat.
Good points about the game JP but come on now about how great the season has been.....If we faulter b/c of that 4 game lapse after being in 7th place with two games in hand this season is a bad one...Entertaining YES, but we are not talking about a BDWY play we are talking hockey.....8 teams make the playoffs and to not make it means you are POOR!
Hollwig is a coward that hits from behind and that is that....Avery is a great pest and soon all in the division well get to know his act and he will be gonzo!
This off season will tell you everything you have to know about our franchise...If Blake and Smyth walk it will be a very long time before you EVER see good hockey on LI again!
To the Einstein that put up the payrolls this year, someone please inform him there is a salary cap....The Rags have had the highest payroll in the league every year before it was in place.....Now they just use the extra money on video replay judges so they make the playoffs!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovctX-t5N1U
HYSTERICAL ....
1) We've got this to look forward to in the future.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkjZhU6dHKo
2) The Isles can afford Smyth, Blake and Poti next year. Will they stay... who knows. But if they do it will say a lot about how far the franchise has come from the days of the blood suckers that ran the team before.
3) Sorry. After going into this season with NO HOPE what-so-ever, I'm not going to trash the team for getting this close. Yes, I'd be disappointed if they don't get in the playoffs. But it's been a very entertaining season, and one that has turned them around again... and headed in the right direction.
They have a coach. They have a GM. I wish the team was younger, and bigger... but that will come in time... hopefully.
Tambellini, Bergenhiem, Nokelienen, Okposo... They need to get some "D" help... that will be the biggest challenge in the off season.
Just started reading the comments and I must say that Merrick and Sneaky Pete posts are very good reads, keep it up guys!
DON MALONEY NEVER GOT A RING
you are so pathetic cry baby.
KOGAN ~
I'm pathetic....You are posting on an Isles forum at 2am on a Sunday...Nice life pal!
When you win 3 games in your last 10 chances down the stretch of a playoff run I cannot consider it any type of progress.....Especially when you go out and send 3 #1's for a rental....Who by the way is a great breath of fresh air to watch his work ethic and hockey smarts yet in no way has carried this team on his back!
The team will be judged on what it does in the next week or so....The Back Office Bobbleheads will be judged on what they do in the off-season and we will see if we have truly turned a corner or whether they fooled us yet again.....
As for the prospects.....Come on guys...Name one that has done anything in our system over the past 15 years....Not ones we have traded I am all to aware of them!
The fans of Long Island are great ones and deserve reults, not baby steps, not promises, RESULTS.......
Pretty sad that a lot of the posts turned into name calling.
Anyway, yesterday was a fantastic game! Campoli really blew it on the Orr goal. Cannot let the guy just stand there smacking at the puck. I cannot fault DP for that one, Campoli should have stayed with Orr.
I will be disappointed if the Isles miss the play offs, but I will not be upset with the way they have played this season. Nobody exepected them to be a good team, and they are proving them wrong. The east is so tight from 6th-8th anything can happen, it will come down to the last day.
Go Isles!
It was a penalty on Hill, Orr was called for the same thing earlier in the game when he took down Bergeron. It might not have looked as bad because Jagr tried to fight through the hook instead of going down. Good game, only difference was that the Rangers have Lundqvist and the Islanders don't. DP is good but he's not great yet.
Islesfan222, it's always the refs with you! The Islanders never lose a game on their own? You had NINE, NINE powerplays yesterday. The only problem. LUNDQVIST!!!
