Farmingdale to Discuss Wrestling Against Girls

BY CHRIS MASCARO

In the wake of one its wrestlers refusing to compete against a girl earlier this season, Farmingdale Athletic Director Jeanne Berkoski told Newsday that the school will look at the protocol should a situation like this happen again.

Berkoski noted that wrestling head coach Ken Garcia and J.V. coach Darrin Simons, who was there at the time of the incident, would be involved in the discussion.

I'm a self admitted pretty big male chauvinist. But I love my Mother, sister, and 6 nieces. I can totally understand why a boy wouldn't want to wrestle a girl. But if there are no girl teams, a girl should be allowed to wrestle. The boy should be allowed to forfiet. What's their to discuss? It should be the wrestlers choice. Though I think its commendable on the boys who do wrestle the girls, especially if they are the underdogs going in.
