Newsday did a poll last season to vote for Long Island's top defensive player. I believe the Jansen kid from Wantagh placed second in votes. I have seen him play and he's everywhere on the field!
He didn't make the All-Long Island Team? He didn't win any awards last year? Did he get hurt?
The kid seems to be a no-brainer, top Long Island player.

Matthew Bates is not playing for Malverne high school because supposedly he was 18/19 years old as a junior. The kid was a beast though.
