Clarke v. Division: Game 2

Laura here trying (valiently) to live-blog game two of the Class A final. Paul Bischoff got into some early trouble in the first, hitting John Gould to start the inning and giving up a base hit to left to Rob Iovino. Matt Johns hit into a 5-3 double play to get bail Bischoff out.

Brian Sundberg started strong for the Rams, getting two quick outs before walking Erik Pedersen. Matt Schneider grounded into the fielder's choice to end the inning.

End of First: 0-0.

Division's Mike Fama hits into the 1-4-3 with runners on first and third to end the second. Still no score. Bischoff, meanwhile, settled down considerably in the second inning, though he's still having trouble with his control.

Paul Bischoff dumps a base hit in righfield that gets by the rightfielder on the hop. Bryan Herold comes around to score. Sundberg looked like he was about to get out of trouble when a comebacker to the mound helped him get the out at home. Matt Schneider later took off from first for the steal and Bischoff came home on the delayed steal as the ball went to second.

End of Third: 2-0, Division

Sundberg helped his own cause with an RBI single to drive in Mike Jungen from second (Jungen reached on an error). Sundberg was thrown out trying to stretch his hit to a double.

End of Fourth: 2-1, Division

Rob Iovino ties the game on a deep (deeeeeeeep) blast to leftfield that almost went out. Christian Lavery scores from second. The Rams have hit some shots against Bischoff this inning, including Johns' loud out to the centerfield wall.

End of Fifth, 2-2

Ooo. Awesome, awesome fake by Bischoff. Kris Guy on first and Bischoff stepped off and pretended to throw to first (falls down and all), while the first baseman and righfielder scattered like Bischoff had thrown it away. Guy bought what Division was selling and got caught stealing to end the inning. That? Is a momentum-killer right there.

Clarke just scored on a base hit by Johns - up the middle, almost taking off Bischoff's head. It's their first lead of the game.

Middle of the Seventh: 3-2, Clarke.

Bischoff just tied the game with a base hit up the middle after Herold stole second and third. Gutsy move by coach Tom Tuttle sending him twice.

Base hit by Stephen McNamara. Division wins, 4-2.
