The Charlie Weis dream lives

By Adam Abramson

According to several published reports, Charlie Weis will remain coach at Notre Dame.

As I said on Monday, the chances of winning in 2009 are very good.

Is Notre Dame racist for keeping Weis, when they were quick to let go of Tyrone Willingham earlier in the decade? I have a hard time buying that.

I'll chalk it up to the sacrifices you make when you change the guard in the halls of the football offices. It's not easy to bring in a new regime, and most think Notre Dame will win soon -- why not let the guy who brought in the talent take care of business?

Now, if Notre Dame doesn't win nine games next year, the season should be considered a disappointment and Weis will likely be gone.

I think the only color that mattered in this decision was green. Weis was such a high-profile hire, that if ND admitted it was a swing and a miss, they'd have only one option. Drive a money truck to Urban Meyer/Nick Saban/Tony Dungy/Bill Cowher and say "take as much as you want"
