Joba Chamberlain and I had the same Lincoln hangout

Joba Chamberlain and I have something in common, and it's not a 90-something mph fastball: We both partied this month at the Night Before Lounge in Lincoln, Neb.
According to police, Joba was in no shape to drive when he left this past weekend. According to the group I was with, we weren't OK to drive, either, three weeks ago.
My trip to Lincoln to see the Virginia Tech-Nebraska football game included a stop at the strip club after a tour of the Lincoln social scene Friday night. About 12 of us filed in to the back corner, celebrated a friend's 24th birthday, watched a man celebrate his 60th birthday, talked to Nebraska fans about the following evening's game and had a few rounds. At last call, we poured out onto the street in no shape to drive. Heck, we could barely stand.
The group of four I was a part of decided to call a taxi to get back to our hotel about 4-5 miles away. The wait was almost two hours at last call -- we weren't in New York City anymore.
We proceeded to walk back to the main drag of bars and head towards Jimmy John's -- a late-night food staple for any major college town. Instead of waiting in the eternal line to get a delicious No. 8 with extra sauce, we camped out front waiting to make a deal. Jimmy Johns, known for their "freakishly fast" delivery, offered us the perfect option: Give a driver $20 to let us pile into his car for a ride to our hotel.
The first driver that came out quickly took the bait ... what college student doesn't want an easy $20?
There was one condition: We had to complete the deliveries before we could get dropped off at the hotel. So we spent the next 20 minutes driving around Lincoln delivering subs to college kids. It was a great insider's tour of Nebraska's capital.
So my advice to Joba is simple: After an evening at the Night Before, head over to the Jimmy John's for a safe ride home. And, you're Joba Chamberlain, you'll probably get dropped off before the subs AND score a free #8 with extra sauce just for being you.
