Three coaching moves from Wednesday I like.
1. Jim Grobe to Arkansas
I know media in Fayetteville went ballistic when they thought Tommy Tuberville was going to defect from Auburn. We saw just how ballistic. But it looks like Grobe is leaving Winston Salem and heading to coach the Razorbacks. Grobe is a fantastic coach and has every chance to succeed in the SEC at a program with lots of tradition. Sadly, Wake Forest will likely suffer more than Arkansas will succeed with this move. Grobe was a gem for the Demon Deacons. I think Butch Davis would make huge waves in Arkansas, but Grobe is as good of a hire.
2. Jimbo Fisher will replace Bobby Bowden when the legend steps down
The offensive coordinator who came in to replace Bowden's son will eventually take hold of the Seminoles. While Fisher has never been a head coach, he's been immersed in big-time football, with proven winners, for several years now. He understands everything that comes along with being the head honcho. Recruiting, rivalry games, the BCS, the media spotlight, etc. Fisher is one of the most recognized names among coordinators in this country, so his transition should be a smooth one. This is a great move for a program that needs to crawl back into the winner's circle and maintain its hold after Bowden leaves -- Fisher makes this feasible.

3. Washington will keep Ty Willingham as its coach
A school is finally going to let Willingham prove himself! And he did worse in this go-round than he did in South Bend! Willingham has Jake Locker who is going to blossom into one of the country's better quarterbacks. Five of Washington's losses were by one score (including two BCS teams: Hawaii and USC). Willingham should get two more years to get it done. If he can't, then he had his fair share at giving it his best.

(laughing) If Bowden ever retires.
One good thing about naming Bowden's successor before he steps down is recruiting. If a kid is considering FSU then he doesn't have to worry about what happens if Bowden leaves during the recruits four years at FSU.
Paul hit the nail on the head. Bowden won't leave until JoePa does. And JoePa won't leave until he dies.
Considering the way the man (JoePa) succumbs to episodes of road-rage, that might be soon. :-)
Is JoePa-Bowden the ultimate version of a stalemate? Appears so.
And, anonymous, you're exactly right. Good point.
